Black Thursday
EDMONTON, AB
Fledging indie promotion New Alberta Pro Wrestling hosted its first Supercard this past Thursday. By all accounts, Black Thursday was a huge success for the company, scoring high ratings on local television and selling out the University of Alberta's venerable Butterdome.
RESULTS:
-The New & Improved D-X retained the tag titles against The Decapitators after a chairshot while the referee's attention was distracted.
-In a bloodbath, Misery pinned J.C. Cook after not one but TWO 'Misery Loves Company' piledrivers. Cook was stretchered out of the arena post-match.
-Provincial Champion Static was the first man eliminated in the Provincial Title Three-way Dance, passing out to Lobo's Dragon Sleeper. In the end, Ravager was able to reverse the Lobo Driver and score a pinfall to regain the title.
-A wild Action! Battle Royale saw The Immortal eliminate a half-dozen guys, newcomers Storm, Rex Caliber & The Minstrel make names for themselves. Rex Caliber scored the win, eliminating The Minstrel in the final seconds.
-And in the Career vs Title main event, it was the end of a career as The Plague came up short in his quest to regain the NAPW Title from D!. Plague took the first fall with The Black Death, but D! came back and evened the score with a MURDERDEATHKILL sunset flip powerbomb off the top. The third fall was decided with a brutal Buzz Kick to the back of Plague's head. Post-match, the two men shook hands and Plague left with dignity, and D! celebrated the retention of his title with the fans.
