The first Breakdown of the year, and a new Lt. Commish?

The National Wrestling Federation has put on it's first edition of Breakdown for 2005! This special Sunday night edition of Breakdown saw the beginning of the National Championship Tournament, being dubbed the "#2 Contender Tournament", since the winner will face off against The Eagle for the vacant NWF National Heavyweight Championship. As you may recall, The Eagle won his #1 Contendership at Season's Beatings. However, the Executive Committee made the decision to have a tournament, rather than crown The Eagle as the new Champion because of the fact that The Eagle still has only a handful of NWF matches. Six spots were filled in the tournament by the match winners at Season's Beatings, while two spots were left open. The first qualifier was an 8-Person Over-The-Top-Rope Battle Royal, while the second open spot would be filled by a Four Corners match between two former National Champions (Nicholas Siarlis and Johnny Scarecrow) and two former Television Champions (Nemesis and Mikeatude BK). NWF newcomer "Firestorm" Johnathan Mills won the Battle Royal to take one spot, while former Carnage member Nemesis won the right to the other open spot.

Also on the card, a Hardcore Grudge Match was held between "The Franchise" John Bane and Spawn. The match was added late in the week, but it lived up to the great hardcore matches of all-time, you really need to tune in for this one.

Plus, the team of The Eagle and NWF World Heavyweight Champion Pete "POz" Osbourne took on the team of "The Rogue Warrior" Ronin BlackKnight and NFM. Eagle and BlackKnight have had heated words, as BlackKnight is a former Navy SEAL, while The Eagle is an Anti-American Brit. NFM and POz also have a thing going, as NFM is the #1 Contender to Osbourne's World Heavyweight title. You'll have to tune in to see what happened in this one.

Plus, a major development, as former NWF Commissioner Joseph Duncan had apparently left a successor in the event that his team lost at Season's Beatings (which they did)... who is it? You'll have to see for yourself!
