Crashmas 2004 -- And then there were two...
It might have possessed only two matches on the night, but the 2 hour affair of 2004's Crashmas brought out the best and the worst of New Frontier Wrestling's history.
In winning their respective conference final matches, Michael Manson and Shane Southern will FINALLY meet in the same ring for an epic encounter at Wrestlebowl.
Yet, in the shadows waiting for Season II -- are possible plot twists, threats and new, but familiar faces that will impact the future of New Frontier Wrestling forever.
The night had started innocently enough with Calvin Carlton and Joey Melton putting on their best rendition of "Brian's Song," but when that song and dance finished -- the pain and anguish was only beginning.
Two stipulations, outside interference -- you name it, Michael Manson vs. Jonathan Marx had it as the North Conference Champion squared off against the East Conference Champion and current NFW Heavyweight Champion. Manson defended the crown under his chosen stipulation of a falls count anywhere Steel Cage Match.
...
It's Manson, wait 'till you read Melton.
Early on, Arthur Marx, Jonathan's father (formerly Werewolf of NGEN in the 90's) as well as Brandon Jacobs caught Manson by surprise on his cage descent -- leading to a nasty fall and back injury that Jonathan exploited to win the match.
Yet, Michael Manson didn't rise above any odds and overcome this obstacle -- in a shocker, Shane Southern chairshotted Jonathan Marx leading to the victory for Manson.
...and then things just got started.
Kazuo Shizaki and FZM officials walked to ringside accompanied by 'The Wolf' Mike Randalls and Wildstar -- two former FZM athletes, ironically a federation that Michael Manson opposes due to his Ultimo Japan alliance. In a twist of fate, Quentin Sullivan walked out announcing FZM's buyout of the NFW East, along with a new board of director vote -- allowing NFW as a whole to expel Avery Prosser's NFW North from the federation.
...of course, Avery didn't like that. What we weren't expecting was the bombshell of Anne Mystic arriving and claiming her 25% ownership of the federation (obtained from Avery Everette, an original owner of NFW) gave her the right to nullify the sale.
Strangely, the masked man known as El Toro walked out, but he revealed himself to be none other than the original Majority Owner and Commissioner of NFW -- Craig Miles. In a response we can only hopes the courts will verify, Miles proved beyond a reasonable doubt that Mystic couldn't stop Sullivan's plans.
And so the pirates fully revealed themselves. In a nrutal attack, WASP and Highwayman revealed themselves as 'Hot Property' Eddie Mayfield and Troy Windham. 'The Last Angry Man' Marcus Cameron also was present and on their team, so to speak.
After a humiliating speech from Troy Windham that no husband should suffer, Eddie Mayfield detailed a 5 year plot of revenge stretching from the NFW to the CSWA to the fWo that accentuated the 9 on 1 attack, Craig Miles was suffering. It took the cage 'MAGNIFICENT'ly lighting on fire for the attack to stop.
Even in the aftermath, things didn't slow down -- Shane Southern attacked Michael Manson with a chair just before he and Joey Melton faced off in the main event. With Melton claiming to be paralyzed, the night continued down a path that can only described as...
...
...well something Joey Melton would do with an audience this large.
A 'Wheelchair Match,' got broken up by a Shane Southern and Lindsay Troy liplock...which miraculously healed Joey Melton to the fullest extent, where he wrestled Southern in a twenty minute classic.
It took karma and a broken hearted Lindsay Troy to pull the proverbial rug out from under Melton's legs, leading to a Party's Over Superkick and pinfall for Southern.
Shortly thereafter, in an ominous scene -- Dan Ryan attacked the newly crowed South Conference Champion and gave him the Humility Bomb onto the entrance ramp, where Michael Manson just happened to be smiling.
So, the night ended and all fans in North Charleston, South Carolina shared tales of wonder, confusion, questions and excitement as New Frontier Wrestling heads towards its first ever Wrestlebowl PPV, where Michael Manson and Shane Southern meet under the most epic of situations -- rightly so, with the history between the duo.
Reports in response to the Eddie Mayfield, Craig Miles and Troy Windham situation are few and far between -- but we all can be certain...there's certain to be one.
