PbPro Front Offices Announce MBE Cup

PbPro, the Japanese wrestling promotion that funded MBE, a fed that was perhaps the most talked about promotion in America for its relatively short four year existence, has announced that a tournament will be held in America. The tourney's prize will be the MBE Cup.

This is the official press release:

"PbPro Senior Vice-President Yori Yakamo, Sr. today announced PbPro would run a series of shows in America under the PbProUSA banner beginning in the new year. The feature piece of these shows would be a single elimination tournament to crown the first ever MBE Cup champion.

"For four years Message Board Entertainment was the gold standard for professional wrestling in America, so it is only right that we honor that standard by putting the best possible talent on display for our fans in the United States."

PbPro did not announce any specific dates, but said they would run five Wednesday shows starting in Los Angeles, and ending with the finals in the hallowed halls of the MBE Arena. All shows would be taped for Fuji TV and an American DVD release through Pioneer.

Mr. Yakamo stated that no members of the PbPro Japan roster would be involved in the tournament, but that he wanted to recruit the best possible wrestlers to compete to do honor to the PbPro and MBE names.

"My office will read applications from any and all interested wrestlers over the next few weeks. We are dedicated to finding the absolute best from America and around the world to compete in this prestigious event."

PbPro has placed senior board member Hiromasa "Hida" Yakamo and site foreman Yoshihiro Yamada in charge of organizing the events, due to their familiarity with the American wrestling landscape

All interested parties should include a short resume, including height and weight, a photo in wrestling gear and a tape containing whole matches not totaling more than one half hour. It should be sent to:

No word yet has been announced of who will compete, but sources say that Maggot, former MBE World Heavyweight Champion and current prospective participant in NFW's Season Two (he's still under the tryour process) will participate. There hasn't been any official confirmation of that or any other participant though.
