Superstar Injured In Auto Accident
Port Jurvis, N.Y.
Although the jury is still out on whether or not professional wrestling is fake or not, one pro-wrestler is probably wishing the last few days were part of some extravagant pro-wrestling storyline. New Era of Wrestling superstar Jason Payne was admitted to a Port Jurvis hospital on December 21 for injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Milton, P.A.
According to an accident report obtained by the A.P, Payne, along with his wife and two children were traveling westbound on Interstate 84, when Payne's 2001 Ford Ranger hit a patch of ice, causing to vehicle to slide off the highway, and down an embankment. According to the report, the truck flipped over once.
Payne's wife suffered multiple injuries and was rushed to Port Jurvis Hospital. The two children onboard suffered no injuries and Payne had minor injuries to his head and neck.
All persons in the vehicle were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident. The weather at the time of the accident is said to have played a factor as a heavy snow was falling in the area at the time. Interstate 84 at the site of the crash, was covered in snow, making it difficult to get emergency crews to the accident.
Payne could not be reached for comment. The extent of his injuries is still not known. Payne had surgery to repair an injured neck a year ago from injuries sustained during a match. Payne is scheduled to compete in a NEW event, RAUCOUS on December 28th. As of press time, Payne's name is still on the card. NEW officials did not speculate on whether Payne would still appear on the card.
"It's completely up to the doctors as to whether or not he can compete.", a NEW spokesperson told reporters.
