Just kidding.

How is everybody doing? Why is this place so dead? Where are all the RP feds? Why is NFW still in rest mode? Is Chad alive? Did Aidan Morag replace him as master and commander? Are new fed owners being perpetually roasted by roastmaster Lindsay except they don't know it? Where do babies come from?

These are some of the questions on my mind tonight. Have a Happy Thanksgiving, and to all a good night.

RP feds are essentially dead.

I figured this out some time back and adjusted to a more angled/storytelling existence in the hobby, and have enjoyed it much more than I expected to. I guess "my e-dick is bigger than your e-dick" finally just got old for me.

Things just evolve, I think. People who fight it instead of adapting to it eventually just fade off. That's why all of the RP feds are disappearing, IMO.

I noticed a few weeks back when I archived jOlt that only Defiance and LoC are active here anymore. That's insane but I guess no one wants to run an RP fed anymore?

Hey, LoC's choc full of old folks. It's like a 55 and over community for RPers. We even have a handy-dandy RP board on the site that never works for anyone but me!

RP feds on FW are dead...RLW should probably be archived also, come to think...but I wouldn't say RP feds overall are dead. Many of the ones I'm aware of don't pique my interest enough to make me want to join/don't meet a certain quality standard. Life's too short to read bad writing.

There's also the fact that I don't want to RP on the regular anymore.

I could probably run one again but not at the expense of having to leave DEF and LoC, which is what would have to happen in order for me to have time to do it. I'd rather just bring the people who I want to see/read into the feds I'm already in.

RP feds were also dead back in the late 90s, early 2000s when the CWL, FWO, Asylum, PIW, 21W, tSC, and ten thousand other places that we've all forgotten about were thriving and happy. It'll come back around.

Anyone remember The Matrix fed? Or the one based on Gladiator? Everyone remembers Alcatraz like that thing lasted more than one show and I'm over here like, "Duuuuude, remember H.E.R.O. with the superpowered wrestling?"

Nobody remembers H.E.R.O. ... I take that back. Dusty totally remembers H.E.R.O.

Is it possible that one and only one generation of internet users were the only ones who ever really got into e-wrestling? Do people under the age of 28 still do this? I feel like hardcore wrestling fans (the likely pool of potential new writers) are finding other ways to express their fandom, and the ones that do get into the hobby are just into the weird "My dude's picture is Dolph Ziggler but his nameplate says Jayson Mercury and I write one paragraph of misspelled blue text" type feds. That's just not even in the same universe of what we all did here. It's like a distant fourth cousin at best. Hey, if people enjoy that, good for them. But as for e-wrestling as a fairly original creative writing project, can anybody name more than 10 capable handlers (set a low bar) that came into this hobby after 2006?

It's easy to say that this is all cyclical, but I don't know that it really is. I think that it's one large group of people that have cycled in and out over the last 15 years or more, and at some point we'll all leave for good and the thing will die.

RP feds, angle feds, doesn't matter. If your fed is still around, I salute you. I'm just here lurking, trolling.

You sound like a CrossFit convert trying to convince his old gym partners that the slow-lift routines are dead! Traitor son of a bitch. Fuck you and the Reebok symbol you rode in on!

Seriously though, to boil RP feds down to their most mediocre element is a bit unfair. The strongest writers used RP to develop their characters and tell a story, the same way angle feds do (but in a different way). I love a good old school "Kiss my ass, I'm better!" type RP, but those get stale and typically the best people had to be better than that. When you get to the point where that's what you're doing (like you admittedly did with latter days Ryan and I def felt myself doing with Castor), the character has reached its end. From a fed perspective, I'm def biased but I would pit the best stories/cards of NFW, EPW, CSWA, etc. against the best of angle feds, any day of the week. I am a big believer that any fed can be popular at any time, as long as it is run the right way, the content is consistent, and there are people who are looking to participate in the hobby. Strict Angle people can be convinced to join a good RP fed and vice versa, it's happened a million times. Competent fed ownership is the rare commodity. The forums are dead all around. There is one semi-maybe active RP fed and what, two angle feds? If RP feds are dead, Angle is on life support.

Besides, we all know the only difference between RP and Angle feds is that one group of owners is honest about the fact that RP doesn't decide shit.

Let me rephrase.

I should have said that RP feds the way I liked them are dead.

And the people who did RP feds the best, like you described, got older, moved on and were not replaced by people who wanted to continue it, at least so far. I'm not anti-RP. I just couldn't do it anymore in the state most current RP feds are in. It's not the environment we enjoyed.

I don't mean to sound like an angry old man. LOL

But I feel like the new generation of e-fedders are more likely to write fantasy wrestling in a show based format like how angle feds do it. You look at the state of the WWE booking and you think, God, I can do so much better than that, so you're drawn to a fed that has a format where you work collaboratively to write a good show, rather than how I was initially drawn to competing against someone else to create a character and tell a story and wait for results. I think the new e-fedder finds that style more rewarding, and honestly at this point, I do also.

I think it's different motivations. We were drawn to it because wrestling was hot and popular, or at least, the handlers during the hottest years of e-fedding were. I actually came into it before that. But now, it's a different dynamic. The attitude era brought in a lot of people ready to cut a promo and crotch chop people and do NWO angles and authority angles. Now it's "we can write better than that crap."

So I guess that brings me to: are there new e-fedders? And if yes, where are they? Who are these people you speak of? I want to know, so I can plot their enslavement and forced conversion to RP feds, when the opportunity arises (and if I'm feeling jazzed up that week).

We got all excited recently because not only did we have a brand new handler, we had a brand new female handler handling a female character like some magnificent unicorn. Then she flaked out.

So, no.
