<i>(We fade in on a black-and-white, security-camera-esque shot of a backstage area, presumably at Aggression 58. In an otherwise unpopulated locker room, Pat Jones is finishing up the task of packing his bag. As he zips up the bag, he briefly pauses, looking over his shoulder as though he has heard a noise. After a moment’s hesitation, he returns his attention to the bag. He is prepared to heft the bag and walk out of the locker room when he casts a glance at the door and jumps)</i>

<b>Pat Jones:</b> Geez …!

<b>Aaron Jones:</b> Really, Dad? You sound like you’ve seen a ghost.

<i>(Aaron Jones walks through the locker room door and casually approaches his father, who has let go of his bag and left it on a bench for the time being)</i>

<b>Pat:</b> I’m sure you can understand why I might be looking over my shoulder tonight.

<b>Aaron:</b> That i can. Stalker’s willingness to hurt you just to get to Anarky was excessive – just an example of the harm his kind is willing to do in order to hold onto their delusions of relevance.

<i>(Pat shakes his head sadly)</i>

<b>Pat:</b> And here I thought I might actually be talking to you, not to Copycat. I suppose I should have known better.

<i>(Aaron just glares at his father for a few seconds, then turns to leave)</i>

<b>Aaron:</b> I am not going to get into another conversation with you where I am accused of being brainwashed or some such. I understand how everyone else in EPW has gotten that impression – they don’t know me. I just keep hoping you will realize I’m not some dumb kid ripe for the brainwashing. Maybe I’m the one who should have known better.

<i>(As Aaron tries to walk out, Pat grabs his arm)</i>

<b>Pat:</b> Aaron, I will not apologize for my concerns about your well-being – physical and mental. But if you came here to tell me something, I’ll listen.

<i>(Aaron pauses, thinking for a second, then turns back toward Pat)</i>

<b>Aaron:</b> I did. My revulsion at what Stalker was willing to do is not my only reason for coming to see you. But i wanted you to know that i did find it reprehensible.

<b>Pat:</b> Enough so to try to stop it, but apparently not enough so to disobey Copycat.

<b>Aaron:</b> He believed Anarky would stop Stalker. It was necessary for Him to see how that situation would play out without any outside interference in order to better understand Anarky’s mindset.

<b>Pat:</b> So what you’re telling me is that he somehow knew I would be rescued.

<b>Aaron:</b> No. He <i>believed</i> you would be rescued. But He would not have known for certain if i had gotten involved. That was why He had to wait and see how Anarky responded. Anarky is the EPW World Heavyweight Champion; He has to know that Anarky is willing to act in the best interests of this business, and while He does not yet understand enough about Anarky’s intentions, He does know that Anarky’s actions tonight prove he is willing to act in the interests of others besides himself.

<b>Pat:</b> And Copycat convinced you that leaving me to the wolves was acceptable in order for him to test Anarky.

<b>Aaron:</b> Are you really so fixated on why i didn’t come to your rescue? You saw that was my instinctive reaction. You saw that i only stopped when He made me realize that intervening would have been the wrong action to take. This wasn’t me abandoning you in your hour of need; this was me seeing you in trouble and making an appropriate response.

<b>Pat:</b> Aaron, I don’t care about being saved. I’ve been doing this job for decades, I’ve taken some pretty horrific beatings in that time, and I keep coming back day after day, week after week, year after year, because this is my job and I take great pride in it, even if it does carry great risk. I don’t think you were obligated to get involved. I care about the principle of it: The only reason you didn’t get involved was because Copycat told you not to, for some twisted experiment of his.

<b>Aaron:</b> And in the process, He saved me from harm. Did that happen to cross your mind?

<b>Pat:</b> I—

<b>Aaron:</b> Anarky is much more apt to care about you, the senior EPW referee, than about me, an ally of one of his sworn enemies. If i had gotten to Stalker first, Stalker would have crushed me, and there’s a sporting chance Anarky wouldn’t have felt compelled to help me. Like it or not, it was His brilliant mind that kept me safe from harm – even as i threatened to harm myself by acting impulsively.

<b>Pat:</b> That your safety was a side effect of Copycat’s plans does not bring me any peace, Aaron.

<b>Aaron:</b> Maybe if you understood what He is trying to accomplish, you wouldn’t have to focus on the side effects to see how His actions might benefit me. I’ve tried to get you to listen when I say that His work is the best way to ensure that someone like me can have a future in this business – the best way to be certain i can follow in your footsteps. But you have thus far refused to believe in the truth of His words. You have chosen instead to believe the lies of those who claim His way is wrong and that the status quo must prevail.

<b>Pat:</b> You’ve told me about Copycat’s mission many times, but it’s hard for me to see the supposed brilliance of his plans when they seem to change every week.

<b>Aaron:</b> The plan has always been the same, Dad: to wrest control of this business away from those who would destroy it for their own personal gain.

<b>Pat:</b> But then why send you out to get destroyed by Stalker and Steven Shane in his place? Why pass up the chance to attack Anarky after he beat Karl Brown? Why walk out of the match against Impulse?

<b>Aaron:</b> I’ve explained His actions to you before. That you choose not to accept my explanations is no reason for me to continue to repeat them.

<b>Pat:</b> You haven’t explained Impulse. Why, after all of Copycat’s threats to hurt Impulse for his refusal to bend to Copycat’s will, did he just walk out?

<b>Aaron:</b> And you think destroying Impulse would help Him achieve His all-important mission? He does not wish to be the only competitor left when He is done healing this business of the sickness that infects it. Impulse shows far too much promise to simply be obliterated.

<b>Pat:</b> But Impulse rejected Copycat’s vision. You’ve told me time and time again that there will be consequences for that.

<b>Aaron:</b> And there will be, if necessary. But in good time. All Impulse lacks is vision. He does not wish to waste the potential of someone like Impulse.

<b>Pat:</b> So what is Copycat planni—

<b>Aaron:</b> In the meantime, He will occupy Himself with other important matters. There is the matter of the EPW World Heavyweight Champion and the way he carries himself and the title. There is the matter of Stalker, who seems dead set on involving himself in the business of that champion. He will continue to address these issues in accordance with His crucial vision – to support those who would save this business and annihilate those who would harm it.

<b>Pat:</b> “His crucial vision?” Aaron, when are you going to start <i>listening</i> to yourself? I know you want what’s best for this business, but bending to the will of that madman is not the way to do it!

<b>Aaron:</b> We’re done here.

<i>(Aaron turns to leave. Pat grabs his arm again)</i>

<b>Pat:</b> Will you stop trying to walk away from me? For Heaven’s sake, Aaron, I’m only trying to help you!

<b>Aaron:</b> Help me? Help me what? Help me abandon the principles i have chosen to follow in favor of an unsustainable status quo that threatens to rip this industry apart? If you try to sway me to the side of the destructors of this business, you help no one.

<b>Pat:</b> Aaron, please—

<i>(Aaron turns and walks out of the locker room. Pat goes to follow, but stops before he can go through the doorway. He then takes a step back as Copycat takes one step into the room. After a moment, Copycat turns to go, leaving Pat alone in the locker room. As Pat tries to make sense of what just happened, we abruptly cut to black)</i>

Stalker: He, Who, I, His, Her, Bed and Bath, My, Mine, It, He, Her, Both of theirs, who is it, what is it? What the hell am I talking about?

(Fade in to Jason Reeves, he's standing in front of an EPW backdrop. Wearing baggy jeans, black tank top and his EPW world tag team title.)

Stalker: You know half the time this kid is rambling I am not sure if he is referring to me, Anarky, Steven Shane or even his handler Copycat. Talk about being brainwashed, this kid doesn't even seem to have a brain left in him. That's a shame really, even more of a shame that I didn't get to him first. Considering he's on the losing side of his Master's, so called battle, to right the ship that is EPW.

Aaron, do you hear that?

(He stops talking and silence is the only thing heard.)

Stalker: That's the sound of Copycat doing nothing for you. Absolutely nothing. You got your ass beat by me already once, what's to say he won't send you out there again in his place? I mean ****, that's what I would do. He's just as f'ed up in the head as I am if not worse. The only difference is, in his mind he thinks he is doing what is right. Where as I know that I am an asshole, I don't care that i'm an asshole and I won't change. He seems to believe that he has some master plan to take care of EPW. Bring it back to where it's supposed to be. What's sad is the fact that he is going to fail. He's going to fall flat on his face and fail, there will be nothing that you can do about it, Aaron. Nothing at all.

When he finally gets that chance at Wrestleverse 3, against Anarky, he won't come out victorious. He won't win, because I have DECIDED that he won't win. There is nothing that either of you can do about it either. When Anarky loses his world heavyweight championship, it will be to me. You hear that Anarky? I've guaranteed YOUR victory at Wrestleverse. How do you like that?

I am saying the one man, that I feel deserves the world title belt the least, will come away with yet another victory. Why do you think I feel that way? Well... I'll tell you.

My whole plan, scheme, whatever you want to call it does not include Copycat as champion. It never has. The simple fact that you have the belt around your waist.... well... that was just a mistake. One that The First caused when he couldn't man up enough to get the victory over you. Even after I laid you out with a chair, he still couldn't pull it off. That was his fault though. Like the failure that he is, he tucked his tail between his legs and left town.

So, I've gotta ask Anarky, are you going to tuck tail and leave too? When you lose your title after I finally get my hands on you, are you going to take your ball and go home?

Whatever you decide, i'm sure you'll find a way to justify it. Just like you keep justifying the fact that you deserve to be world champion.

Now let's get down to business. Aggression 59, Aaron Jones and... I mean Copycat and Anarky against Stalker and Steven Shane. It will be an interesting contest to say the least. As long as Stevie boy watches my back, i'm sure we'll be fine. Again he took credit for my work at 58, scoring the pin fall after I not only took out Astros, but also got my shoulder up on a pin fall attempt by silly ass Cruise.

Stevie, we've been good together so far. I have no interest in changing that, however, you need to stay away from my business. You also don't need to be sticking up for b*tches like Caitlyn Daymon. You do both of those things and our success will continue. If you don't do both of those things we will have some problems.

By the way, Stevie, my pin fall this week. Don't get in my way.

(Fade.)

(FADEIN to an EPW backdrop, plain and simple. Anarky is standing in front of it, without the title, in his usual wrestling gear.)

ANARKY: “Sometimes, simplicity is the best you can do.

“The best laid-plans of mice and men and all that, right, gentlemen?

“I guess you know all about that, don't you, Stalker. That's all you do. Plan and scheme, scheme and plan. Always some dastardly plan hatching in that devious little brain of yours.

“And for what, Stalker? Because you didn't get to choose? Because you imagine yourself as the puppeteer of Empire Pro? It is you who pulls the strings? You who plays us all like marionettes?

“Enough. I'm done with this sh*t.

“You think just because you can punk some ref in the backstage, that makes you powerful? You think because you can get on the mic and threaten me when I'm doing other sh*t that this makes you f*cking MATTER, Stalker?

“No. You keep sticking your f*cking nose in my business because you can't handle the simple little fact that the world doesn't revolve around you and what you f*cking do. So you gotta go throwing around my name because you think if you repeat your name with my name enough, someone's bound to associate the two, and you'll be important by sheer association.

“Except the thing is, Stalker, f*ck you.

“I don't need your guarantees and your f*cking promises. I take care of my own sh*t. You don't speak for me or anybody else. You barely speak for yourself.

“I'm getting bored of this dog and pony show and quite frankly, you have better things to do then waste my time with this primadonna bullsh*t. Don't you have a tag title to defend? With your good buddy Steven Shane?

“Of course, Shane doesn't approve of your bullsh*t. Then again, the guy doesn't seem to have a real good idea of what's going on, but you know what, I can't say I blame him. If I was stuck tagging with Stalker, I'd probably spend a lot of time ignoring everybody around me, too.

“See, Copycat might be a f*cking lunatic, but at least he seems to be the lunatic on my side. For this match. For one night.

“Will he show up? Will he fight with me? Will he make Aaron Jones do it for him? Will he stop halfway through and hit someone with a car?

“WHO THE F*CK KNOWS.

“And that's my partner.

“So let's just keep things simple, shall we?

“At Aggression 59, Stalker... I have every intention of showing you the kind of treatment I give to people who run their mouth at me for a little too long.

“You think you can choose, my friend? You think my destiny is in your hands? That you control me?

“Control is an illusion. In the ring... plans don't mean sh*t. It's one split-second at a time out there. One moment of unfurled chaos at a time.

“No man can truly know what the future holds, but something tells me at Aggression 59...

“... at least one man is going to enjoy it.”

(FADEOUT to wide grin on his face.)

The backstage area of the Empire Pro house show seems vacant. Suddenly, we catch EPW’s empty-pocketed unpaid interviewer James Murphy walking hurriedly. He looks around, finally coming to a door with a sign reading “The Sensational One” on it. James bursts into the room, catching Steven Shane off guard.

James: Steven Shane!

Shane: Yeah, I never knock either. Easier to catch people doing something they shouldn’t be.

James: My apologies, Shane. I was just very interested in finding you and getting your thoughts on your match this week.

Shane: I don’t have a match this week.

James: Really? Do we have to do this every week?

Shane: No. Just on the weeks I don’t have a match.

James: But you do have a match this week.

Shane: Says who?

James: Says the official Empire Pro lineup for Aggression 59.

Shane: Oh yeah, I saw that. But I don’t have a match.

James pulls out a piece of paper from his pocket. He unfolds it and points toward the bottom of the page.

James: See?!?! “Main Event: Anarky and Copycat vs. Stalker and Steven Shane”.

Shane: Yeah… that’s just a replay from the opening round of the King of the Cage Tournament.

James: It says it’s a non-title match.

Shane: So?

James: SOOOOO… You and Stalker weren’t the tag team champions when that match took place.

Shane: But Anarky was. Tag team rules for a singles title.

James: With all due respect, Empire Pro doesn’t have a long history of crazy stipulations like that. I’m certain they mean the Tag Team Titles.

Shane: In that case… SPOILER ALERT! Shane and Stalker win and are still the tag team champions.

James: Of course you’re still champions. The titles aren’t on the line!

Shane: Because the match already happened!

James: Yet, you feel certain that you’ll win again?

Shane: I’ve seen the tape. I know we win.

James: So… because you’ve seen the tape of your first win, you feel confident that you two will win again?

Shane: They can’t change the tape, Jamal. Everyone saw it once. If they doctored it, the fans would know.

James: Okay, Shane. I understand that you believe that there is no match this week. However, have you been able to see what the other competitors have been saying about this “replay”?

Shane: Yeah, they seem pretty worked up about it.

James: And yet, you still believe it’s just a replay?

Shane: You don’t get it either. Why would I be amazed that they don’t understand?

James: Very true. Yet, we’ve heard from your tag team partner, Stalker. What is your take on his comments?

Shane: Delusional as ever…

James: And yet, he’s your tag team partner.

Shane: I can’t help but think Dan Ryan laughs every time he sees my name beside his. Maybe that’s why he listed the replay as the main event?

James: Possibly, Shane. Yet, Stalker told you that he was taking the pinfall in this… “replay”. Do you feel threatened by that statement?

Shane: On one hand, I do because the guy’s crazy and I’m supposed to trust him. On the other hand, I’m not because he actually got the pinfall the first time, thus, the tape will show him to do so again.

James: And he claims you took credit for the last two pinfalls in the King of the Cage tournament. Your thoughts on that?

Shane: I still think the guy is crazy. If he wasn’t busy taking himself out of matches, maybe he, too, could score a pinfall to win a title. Instead, he’d rather jump off a cage or just hide on the outside of it while I close things out.

James: He’s also worried about you defending Caitlyn Daymon.

Shane: Something anyone with an IQ would do. That’s why I don’t expect him to understand.

James: Moving on… What about Anarky saying you don’t know what’s going on and that you ignore everything around you?

Shane: It’s not that I’m ignoring anything. I don’t get the point of taking anyone’s time to talk about the replay of a match.

James: Shane, I promise you this is NOT a replay of a match.

Shane: Says the guy that doesn’t knock before entering a room.

James: What does that have to do with anything?

Shane: Why does a replay of an old match warrant you barging into my locker room like Aaron Jones or Stalker when they’re late for a psych appointment?

James: Okay… okay… I get it. You don’t have a match this week. I’m not getting any closer to convincing you otherwise.

Shane: Why would you?

James: Because it’s the truth…

Shane: The truth is there’s no match this week.

James: Fine! Anything else?

Shane: Enjoy the replay… But I’m telling you how it ends…

Shane shakes his head and smiles as James turns and walks away.

<i>(We fade in on a lone television set, sitting atop a TV stand in what is otherwise an unlit room. On the screen is Anarky and Aaron Jones vs. Stalker and Steven Shane from Aggression 56, though the volume is so low that the match emits no more than a faint, inaudible drone. The camera rotates around until it is facing the same direction as the TV screen. Illuminated in a chair a few feet away from the screen is Aaron Jones, his eyes fixed on the TV. A second or two after the camera stops its movement and settles into place, Jones looks up into it)</i>

<b>Aaron Jones:</b> It is a sad, but wholly expected, commentary on the thought processes of EPW’s competitors that there seems to be so much uncertainty over what His role will be at Aggression 59.

Yes, the match that will take place at Aggression 59 is billed the same as the match that took place at Aggression 56. And yes, He chose not to directly participate in that match. This has given rise to the notion that He may do the same at Aggression 59.

But anyone who has paid any attention to the critically important mission He has set for Himself would question what He would have to gain by repeating His actions from Aggression 56.

At Aggression 56, Anarky was the newly-minted EPW World Heavyweight Champion. And with the First’s shameful departure and Sean Stevens’ utter destruction at His hands, Anarky was undisputably EPW’s standard-bearer. He knew then that He needed to know precisely what kind of champion – and what kind of man – Anarky would be, and whether his title reign would help heal this diseased business or move it ever closer to a flatline.

He did not actively participate in that match because He needed to see how Anarky would react. And in the weeks since then, He has continued to study Anarky’s decisions – whether from a distance or from inside the very same ring. Aggression 59 is another opportunity for Him to measure Anarky’s worth, to learn Anarky’s values and intentions. And He would learn nothing by doing precisely what He did three cards ago.

Anarky himself can be forgiven for wondering whether He will show up at Aggression 59. Though Anarky should – and may – know better than to think He is more interested in hurting him than in pursuing His stated mission, it is understandable that Anarky would want to consider all the possibilities going into this match, including the possibility that he would have to go it alone, even if there’s no good reason why He would do it. Besides, Anarky has not trusted Him for many years – and may, perhaps, realize that the penchant for betrayal Anarky displayed in the past could be something He harbors now.

But Steven Shane should know better than to expect Aggression 59 to be the same as Aggression 56. And Stalker should know better than to think He would conduct the same study twice.

Stalker, one would think that you, of all people, would understand the importance of doing thorough research before enacting a plan. But that’s not really what you do, is it?

You talk about a grand, overarching plan, but you don’t really have one. You just use the fiction of a plan to explain everything beyond your control – good luck and bad. You say He stands no chance of becoming EPW World Heavyweight Champion, then one sentence later acknowledge that Anarky was never supposed to be champion either, according to your plan.

It’s all part of the grand illusion you have created for yourself – that everyone should continue to pay attention to you despite your waning relevance. And your continued pursuit of that illusion is steering you down the wrong path.

Like so many members of this current, self-absorbed generation, you have fixated on your own glory, convincing yourself that nothing else matters. And in so doing, you are only harming this already beleaguered industry. You are more concerned with your own image than with the damage you might do.

He has a certain amount of respect for your methods. But your goals are repulsive to Him. He does not yet know for certain whether Anarky is helping or harming the business, but He does know that, as things stand now, you are wantonly damaging this business. He will not abide by this.

Fortunately, Stalker, He is willing to help you overcome your destructive obsession.

At Aggression 59, you need not concern yourself with your own relevance. You need not concern yourself with inching closer to the EPW World Heavyweight Title, or with causing grievous bodily harm to your opponents, or with justifying any failures you might experience as part of an amorphous master plan.

You need only concern yourself with the damage He will wreak upon you if you continue to hurt this business in the interest of your own glory.

You are not an easy man to wound, Stalker. He understands this well. He has seen the harm you have visited upon yourself over the years, and He knows that you will not be an easy man to break. But neither was Sean Stevens – the white knight of EPW. Dan Ryan brought Sean Stevens forward to stop Him from saving this business, and He broke Sean Stevens – physically, mentally, emotionally.

At Aggression 59, He will continue to study Anarky’s fitness as EPW’s standard-bearer. He will observe Steven Shane and see whether he does more harm or good for the business. And He will – by any means necessary – stop Stalker from doing further harm to this industry.

Know this, Stalker: You, too, can be broken. You may claim that any such efforts would be futile, that you were broken many years ago by the cruelty of this world, or some such cliché – but know that it is within His power to do worse to you than you thought possible.

See what He sees, Stalker. See what He sees – before he must force the light into your eyes.

<i>(Aaron stares at the camera for a few more seconds, before letting his gaze drift back to the TV set. A moment later, Copycat appears behind Aaron, moving out of the darkness and looking over his shoulder toward the TV. After that, we cut to black)</i>

"It is he, who is I, I who is him and you who is a fool."

(Scene fades in to Jason Reeves, run down motel room outside of Jacksonville, Florida. He is staring into the dresser mirror, tag title laying on the chair behind him. It looks like he hasn't slept for days and he stares blankly into the mirror.)

Stalker: You know Aaron, your claims are downright hilarious. Or should I say 'His' claims? It's so f*cking hard for me to understand what is going on whenever you are on camera. Are you truly speaking for Copycat? Or are you just making this **** up. Speaking of speaking, when the hell do I get a chance to hear him actually talk again? Ever? This whole process you have going on right now is downright tiresome.

Before I fully go into how freaking stupid you are, let me clear one of your statements up right here and right now. Your 'master' did not break Sean Stevens. I DID. Triple X was broken down as soon as he lost a grip on that World Heavyweight championship. Why did that happen? I think you already know the answer to that question. It was me. I decided it was time for him to let go of that title, it was I who decided I was tired of being treated as less then an equal to him. I ended our friendship, I took away his world title.

So yes, I who is he who is him. ME. Jason Reeves. Stalker.

How many more god DAMN times do I have to address this whole situation. You idiots act like all of this obsession is about glory. It's not about glory, it's about showing punks like Anarky who the real boss is. It's about showing former friends what happens when they forget who helped them. It's about showing people like The First what it means to TRULY be in control.

At Aggression 59, no Aaron, I will not let Copycat force the light into my eyes. I don't care what he sees, all I care about now is showing him what a punk of a champion Anarky is. When I destroy his ass in the middle of that ring and get the pin fall.

(Jason pauses for a few moments, while he pours himself a drink. After taking it down in one shot he stares back into the mirror.)

Stalker: Let's switch focus to Anarky now. The fact that I can get on a mic, talk **** and call you out does make me matter. You claim to be doing other s*it? Like what? Not defending the world championship? Not defending the title reign that I disgrace everytime I open my mouth? What the f*ck do you think you are?

Anarky, seriously if you think that my importance comes from the amount of times I repeat your name, you are more f'ed up in the head then I am. Your title reign is meaningless. As long as you continue to act this way, it will stay meaningless. You overpowered a weak champion in The First, took that title and strapped it around your pathetic waist. You know what I see though, from your title reign? It won't matter if you hold the belt for 6 months, a year or even three. You are not a true champion. For as much as I despised Sean Stevens in the end at least he was a true champion.

Yeah I have plans, Anarky. Yeah I have grand schemes. The real question, Anarky, is what are your plans? The only time these fans have even seen your silly ass has been when I WAS involved. You come to the arena, sit in your locker room until your match is up. Go out, perform, then climb back under your rock. That's not a champion, that's a f*cking paperweight with a belt wrapped around it. You are just a placeholder, until I can take that title and strap it around the waist of someone more deserving.

Sadly at this point in time there is only one person fit for that job. Sorry Stevie, it's not you. At least not yet. Copycat, ain't you either buddy. There is only one person fit to truly be the World Heavyweight Champion of Empire Pro Wrestling. That man is me.

I am tired of beating around the bush, I am tired of mincing words with you Anarky. You are a terrible champion, a terrible hardcore performer and when I finally get that chance and trust me I will. I will show you just how terrible you truly are.

When Steven Shane and I walk in to that ring at Aggression 59, I will have one goal and one goal alone. That will be to pin your shoulders to the mat and get the one, two, three. So my question to you Anarky is when that does happen, what will you say to yourself? Just a bump in the road?

Frankly if you honestly have the nerve to say you are tired of this ****, then you might as well drop that title right now and walk away. You are the world champion, you have a target on your back and I don't care if you think i'm worthy of name dropping you. This is no longer your world.

Welcome to Stalker's World.
