I thought it was a decent show.

What?

It was a decent show.

What?

It was actually really good overall.

What?

The opening segment was a little weird - I'm not sure what kind of Champion Anarky is supposed to be. Is he a face? Is he a heel? He seems like he middle of the roads it with his targets and doesn't stand for anything. That isn't bad in and of itself, and the fact that he's retained the title through everything he's been through speaks highly of him, but in the opening segment he gave as much 'lip service' to his supposed biggest enemy, Dis (IE the main source of dischord during this past arc and his opponent at the Pay Per View) as he did to Impulse, who has supported him as Champion for his efforts, calling back to isolated comments made something like five months ago.

What?

It just makes him look a little aimless, and that's not good for a Champion to be when he's heading into a major title defense.

What?

Crazy heels named Mr. Sunshine are awesome. Short and to the point.

What?

JOEY MELTON IS AWESOM...oh. I love Joey Melton, and I miss him like a long lost romantic. The only reason I can really see for him being in this segment was to throw people off the scent of the real Dis (comments on that later).

What?

Triangle match was odd, just because Straw is taking a break. But Rezin is a great character and deadlines stink but I understand why Cruise ate the pin. Popcorn match, enjoyable and fun.

What?

DIScovery was a DISappointment. Obviously we weren't going to see who Dis is but what had a lot of promise is kind of turning out to be... blah. DIS shouldn't be sitting in Ryan's office for tea and crumpets, he should be saying "This is my company, so I'm going to do what I want and I dare you to stop me," which speaks to who DIS really is (comments on that later).

What?

James Murphy is such a sad sack, he makes me think of Ted from Scrubs, and in fact, that's how I'm going to write him from now on. "The smiley face button and the revolver? One is for when I get saaad, and the other is for when I get... reeal sad." But the segment was a good one, it continues to showcase the drastic difference between First and Burns and the fact that this will come to a head sooner than later.

What?

Team Viagra is awesome and it stinks that Ford has had some net problems this past month, because I was always a fan of the team. That said, Viagra vs. First/Burns, there really are no losers because all four characters are awesome. Glad to see First to Burn retain, there's a lot of mileage left in that team.

What?

Placeholder, last minute kind of segment. Don't really want to comment because of the OOC stuff but it sets the stage for Russian Roulette nicely.

What?

Burns can easily turn into a psychotic heel with his obsession at holding gold. I can actually see him bending the rules at Russian Roulette, having The First walk out, but Burns wins the match anyways so First is tied to this partner he doesn't want to have anymore. Just a thought that struck me.

What?

The Main Event got over every main event angle going right now, I think, except for Stalker, but absence worked for him on this show, it made the tension build for his showdown with Dan Ryan. Finish was pretty much what had to happen - World Champion gets the win and injured (IE no-show) opponent gets the loss. But it was a great match to read and probably match of the night.

What?

So... Dis. In my opinion (and this is only my opinion, I could be wrong) there's no real thrust behind the Dis character right now. Masked men work when there's mystery and when there's drama. Dis made a good appearance at Wrestleverse in the capacity of "I'm back" but since then, to have Dis wrestle like just another guy brings his stock down drastically, in my opinion, and turns him into just another masked wrestler who calls out everyone with no real intent to back up his words because his goal is the World Champion. Regardless, in my guesstimation Dis is one of three people. The first would have been awesome but probably not likely. The second would have been awesome OOC but a disappointment in character, and the third would just be disappointing all around. But I think whoever is under the mask would never have been able to live up to the expectations just based on the circumstance. I'm not saying names here to avoid drama, if you really want to know ask me privately.

What?

Overall it was a really good show and a nice lead - in to Russian Roulette.

What?

But the opening segment seemed a little familiar. :)

Overall a very good card which built into the PPV nicely. I also can't recall the last time I didn't see Stalker nearly kill anybody, so I think that's noteworthy in its own right. I think the middle of the EPW pack is really starting to hum and there's a ton of talent all over the place. I'm really interested to see who ascends to Main Event status in the coming months.

MATCH OF THE NIGHT: I enjoyed both the Main Event and the Copycat/Rezin/Cruise match. Of course, I also liked the tag match, but yeah... if I had to vote, I'd probably vote for Copycat/Rezin/Cruise, if only because those characters interest me a lot at the moment.

FACE OF THE NIGHT: Aaron Jones? I kind of enjoyed how he's not really sure what's going on with Copycat and how he got kind of involved in the Steven Shane thing... we could also say Steven Shane, since he got injured and decided to fight on, which is a very face-y thing to do for a guy who can't remember the names of anybody he works with. Unfortunately, he was also brutally murdered, so that makes for a tough night.

HEEL OF THE NIGHT: Rezin. I am really enjoying Erik Black's transformation, and I really like this iteration of the character being fed up with everything and not taking it anymore.

SEGMENT OF THE NIGHT: I enjoyed Aaron Jones trying to explain what might've happened to Steven Shane, being uncertain about Copycat, almost worried. For some reason I am enjoying that arc overall.

WHAT COULD'VE BEEN BETTER: I tried to contribute myself to the overall World Title picture, which is something I haven't always been great at or engaged with (aside from RP), so I am hoping the show overall benefitted from that. I think the Anarky/Dis thing is a little strange in that they are almost not feuding with each other, but rather, with their roles in EPW... but I think it hasn't been bad. That's probably mostly on me, anyway.

WHAT WORKED: I am enjoying the Eddie Burns/First tag team thing, it's pretty fun to read. Copycat/Aaron Jones is also pretty interesting, as is the descent of Rezin into further madness. Or sanity, depending on how you look at it. I thought the Main Event buildup was good and built into the PPV properly.

Overall I think it was a good effort by everybody and the talent level of the league appears to be rising once again. I'd say there's going to be plenty of competition in the coming year for everybody who wants it.

FACE OF THE NIGHT: Anarky for the big win and standing up to people. I get "Stone Cold" take on Anarky, but I feel like he would be the kind of character who does sorta hate everyone and would fight anybody. I think the big question would be that who exactly is Anarky fighting/rebelling against. Austin/McMahon was the talent fighting management, the 'beat the crap out of your boss' fantasy made real. I think if anything it's just that Anarky lacks a target for his rage.

HEEL OF THE NIGHT: Rich Mahogany for bailing when the bailing was good from the six man tag. Justin suggested that idea and I hope I did it justice.

MATCH OF THE NIGHT: I hope the main event was a good lead into Russian Roulette, kind of crappy that the heat on the match was mitigated by Shane going MIA.

SEGMENT OF THE NIGHT: I liked Stalker trying to see who Dis was. Still being a part of the show when not on the show. Stalker's kind of like a cloud hanging over EPW.

GENERAL THOUGHTS: I thought the build to the PPV was well done. All the major matches have been put together well and have heat on them. Just unfortunate that Shane is off-line so the Impulse/Shane build got ruined.
