Backstage Script modification (Match/Seg Previewing)

I have tweaked the preview pane in the Match and Segment editors. The idea is that they should look like the actual live website will when your content is posted.

If you are pasting from other editors, and it looks shite, the idea is that you make some effort to fix it so that it no longer looks shite... so that Justin or whoever else doesn't have to spend the time doing that.

You should see the preview pane with a black background, as below (like the website). If it is still white, your browser has the old CSS files for the script cached. Hit Control+F5 to pull them over again. (or however you have to do that on your particular device... google it.)

If you have double spacing between paragraphs, this is usually because you are working in an editor that has 0 margins beneath each paragraph, and you have hit Enter twice to insert the paragraph space. This editor adds a 6 point margin at the bottom of each paragraph... so the margin, plus your blank line, equals the bigger gap. You can fix this by adjusting the style for whatever editor you are using to also have a margin below the paragraph, or not double-tapping after each paragraph.

This will probably take a few tweaks to get right... so any problems or oddities.. let me know. I have zero content to play with from something like googledocs, so its all theoretical at the moment as to whether it will actually achieve the required outcome.

Hi,

I'm having issues with getting my match to preview properly. I write in microsoft word 2010, and include my html as I write the match. I then use plain text to enter it, but it still isn't visible. I tried putting it into notepad and then transferring over, and still it would not show, i keep getting just a wall of black, i even tried pasting in white lettering and nothing shows up i even stuck it in a google doc and cut and pasted out of there, in both plain text, and using the notepad method. I have tried pasting from word, I have tried pasting from just the paste option, i even tried pasting it in from source and it is still black lettering on the black background.

I have my match completed, just not sure how to proceed from here.

Which match? Save it in there even with all black preview and I will take a look.

Kenny Freeman vs Jake Donovan. I've saved it there now so you can see.

I'm out at the moment, but made a code change before I left. Try it out again please. I'll have another look when I get back.

I gave it another go, it still is reading just black on black. I tried going from word to notepad to plain text, I tried word to plain text, I tried notepad to paste, I tried pasting plain in the window, but all have the same result.

If I open up your match, it previews fine to me.
If you go in again now and open it up and preview it, can you see it?

What browser are you using?

I'll pm you my email address, if you could send me a copy of the Word document.

It still previews as black on black to me :( I'm using google chrome for a browser. I've sent you the word doc though, that's just really weird.

Emailed you back the document with some changes made to the first few paragraphs. Try pasting them in directly from Word to the script, don't go via Notepad.

Yours is fine :)

I think the Chrome issue is sorted. The command I am using to get the preview panel to not inherit CSS was being partially ignored, so I have changed it for another one that seems to do the job just as well.
