The More Things Change...
* Suicide RP#2 for C07.
The camera fades in to the front of Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts. The campus is crawling with eager college students, making their way to their next destination. In the lower off-corner of the camera’s view, a mysterious wanderer, wearing a black fedora and trench coat, sits motionless as his focus is towards the college and its inhabitants.
“Learning.”
“Virtue.”
“Piety.”
“That is the motto of this great educational institution. A place of high standards and higher expectations, those who wish to advance their knowledge would be foolish to revoke such learning. To learn about the past to make one stronger for the present and the future is something no one should pass up on.”
“But for you Mr. Chaos, I guess a better motto that would suit you is ‘the more things change, the more they stay the same.’”
“For a man who has claimed to be an entirely different man than the one he once was, you don’t really seem that different. You’ve always been a man of false bravado, always looking past those that will give you a challenge, even if you claim otherwise. Then, you have the audacity to point fingers at those who are squarely focused on you and charge them with the crimes you have committed.”
“Basically, you are a hypocrite.”
The dark figure turned around to the camera, revealing himself to be none other than Suicide. He leans forward, resting his elbows on his knees as he claps his hands together.
“I believe you have taken what I said out of context, but considering who you are, this comes as no surprise. Your idle threats coupled with your list of previous victims only shows that your body wasn’t the only thing that grew. But I guess for a man who cherishes his pride and ego, the only way you go from here is up.”
“The fact you believe I have done nothing in the past few years while you boast of your improvements only shows your true ignorance; and that will be your downfall. If you were a man that truly pursued knowledge to not only improve your body, but your mind as well, then you should learn from our past. Because if it is any indication…it doesn’t bode well for you. But as you said, you are not that young, ignorant hypocrite you once was years ago. Now, you’re the older, more improved, ignorant hypocrite you’re claiming to be.”
“Personally speaking, I think you and I have much more to learn and in your case, much more growing up to do. You can have your ‘spot’ in New ERA. I’m not looking to take anyone’s ‘spot’ but to make one of my own. But unfortunately, for either of us to claim what is ours, if it is something we really own, then one must survive and one must fall. To get past me, Mr. Chaos, you need to come to terms that you’ve been so blind to the lie and that you need to open your eyes to see the real truth.”
“That truth? That you’re not facing just a man, a myth, or a legend, but you are facing…”
“The Man…”
“The Myth…”
“The Legend…”
“No matter how much you brag about what it took to thwart your enemies, know that it’s going to take a lot more than what you currently have to stop me. Because when it’s all said and done, you will remember who you have faced off against once more when you are looking up at the arena lights and no amount of ego-boosting ‘MONSTER’D’ chants will change that.”
“’Nuff said…”
Suicide turned his attention back to the campus as the camera faded out.
