"So... You want to quit?"

"What, exactly, do you think that's going to solve? Oh, I'm not trying to come off like I'm your friend - I'll be honest, I don't see that ever happening - I'm just trying to figure out where your head is, Kev."

"Walking away... letting the other guy, whoever that may be, win... Why, Kevin? Because you're tired of not being able to finish a match without Randalls fisting the win out from under you? Because you're tired of never getting the right shots? Because you've had enough of being stepped on? Well..."

"Guess what, Kev?"

Havoc stood, back to the camera, at the precipice of a massive cliff. The hike to the top had been arduous, fraught with obstacles - and yet cleansing. It took the man named Mason Xavier a moment to notice how fast his heart was pumping - and how good it felt. It felt like an eternity since he had last taken even a moment to simply breath and acknowledge the world, as odd as that might sound.

"In life... people screw you... they conspire against you and look for ways to stop you from reaching your goal..."

"...they'll kick you when you're down, wait for you to finally regain the ability to inhale - then beat the air out of your lungs again. That's LIFE, Kevin. You let them step on you... what happens? They STEP on you."

He turned, his eyes piercing through the encroaching darkness.

"Therein... lies YOUR problem, Kevin."

"What have you done to stop them, Kevin? A few shoot interviews here or there... maybe a run-in, a couple of well-placed shots with your favorite Louisville Slugger... a handful of creative insults, maybe?"

He smiled as he fully turned to face the camera.

"But Randalls keeps coming back, doesn't he? ...Merritt? He's still playing his subtle little games... isn't he? Your words... your baseball bats... they aren't getting you anywhere, Powers."

"Maybe Apocalypse is right... maybe you've lost your edge... Me? I'm not too sure you ever really fully EXPLORED it when you HAD it, otherwise, you would have had Randalls taken care of and done with LONG ago..."

"I've been where you are, Kevin... we've ALL wanted to walk away, for one reason or another, at some point in our careers..."

He pointed over his shoulder towards the horizon, where the sun turned the sky into a ripple of purples and oranges.

"You see a sunset and automatically assume it's your own... the end... game over... nothing more to see..."

He turned back to the sky, the sun dipping behind a distant mountain range.

"..that's not MY sunset, Kevin. And you want to know why?"

Havoc looked back to the camera with a stoic expression, assured and confident.

"Because I say it's not... sometimes, Kevin... it's as simple as that."

"You can put the blame on Randalls... you can put the blame on Merritt... or Radder... Bill Clinton, Halle Berry - ANYONE - ...but there comes a time when the decision has got to come down... to YOU. You can say that it was Randalls run-ins that made you say "To Hell With It!" - but, damn it, Kev - that's a cop-out. It all comes down to YOU, Kevin... YOU choose your own sunset... YOU choose your own destiny..."

"Me? I'm determined to get to the top of this company. I don't care if Mike Randalls wants to interfere in EVERY match I have... GET TO THE TOP is EXACTLY what I'm going to do. I'm determined to hang onto this belt with every ounce of sweat that I have. I don't care if Chad Merritt likes me... or wants to push me... or wants to bury me... or wants to 'screw' me... HANG ONTO THIS BELT is EXACTLY what I'm going to do. I'm determined to give EVERYTHING I have... EVERY NIGHT I get in the ring. I don't f***ing care if I get booked in a card-opening program with Carl Brigsby for three months... GIVE ALL I'VE GOT is EXACTLY what I'll do. Because I'm not going to cop-out - blame the OTHER guy - and walk the f*** away like a scared, ignorant little girl."

He glared at the camera intensely.

"...I'm better than that, Kevin... and I thought you were, too..."

"...I guess we'll see... Won't We?"

(FADEIN: 'THE WOLF' MIKE RANDALLS standing on a dimly lit street corner in N'Awlins...)

RANDALLS: "You know Havoc, maybe you didn't understand the situation. Frankly, I think you should be thanking Kevin for a big IOC victory over me. Since you and I both know that it wasn't your determination that put my shoulders to the mat in the first place. Maybe you'll learn as I did that Kevin Powers only knows how to talk the talk, but when it comes time to walk the walk - he will NEVER be able to finish anything on his own. Be it Apocalypse, Roseanne or Miso - Powers will never achieve anything on his own because he's afraid to fail on his own. He'd have to blame something on himself. You wanted a challenge, Havoc? You're not gonna get one at the Superdome. All you're gonna get is yourself in the middle of some drawn out soap opera between Powers and his old buddies. That's not a challenge, that's a waste of time. The moment Powers started whining and crying about me, I decided I wouldn't waste my time with him. He put himself in this position by ordering his own valet to interfere in OUR match. This was after weeks and weeks of Powers telling me that he had what it took to destroy 'The Wolf' once and for all. He was naive enough to believe a silly little plot and a baseball shot would send me walking away. Only thing is when I came back and did the same thing to him, he turned into a whimpering little snot. That's why there's no need for me to interfere in your match. Don't worry 'bout me, just worry about not losing to an overhyped little (BLEEP). Enjoy this 'challenge' Havoc, but whenever you feel the need for a real one...I'm not too hard to find."

You think I should *thank* Powers? Why? For what? For being a hypocrite? For doing to MY match - what he's complained has been done to HIS matches? You want me to THANK Kevin Powers for coming down to the ring and getting in your face long enough for me to hit you with the 1-2-3?

Uh-uh. Not happenin'.

I did what I had to do to ADVANCE in the tournament, which, if you hadn't noticed, was what those matches were all about. I didn't enter the IOC looking to settle any personal scores... to set any body up or guess the conspiracy-theory-du-jour... I entered the IOC out for the GOLD. Was I pissed when Powers hit the ring and turned our match upside down? Not at the time... I was DETERMINED to use it to my advantage... to take that split-second window of opportunity... and turn it into 20 points towards the gold.

...but it wasn't without consequence.

I got back to my lockerroom... and, yeah... while the 20 points may have felt good... while the momentum may have felt good...

I walked away with my least favorite thing in the world:

Unanswered Questions.

...the way I see it? There are a lot of those these days... and one by one... I'll finish the puzzle. One by one...

One... by One...

See you Mike.

RANDALLS: "Listen Havoc, if I had a choice I wouldn't have been in the IOC in the first place. The only thing keeping me from skipping the whole thing was Love. I knew Merritt would save it as the last match, who didn't? I had to play my cards. Just remember, I was in position to win that strap. All I had to do was pin Love's shoulders to the mat. I didn't because I don't need that title to tell me anything about myself. In the end, that championship isn't more than something to keep my pants up. I've held more important titles, or ones just as prominent. In the end, the only truth you can fall back on is what's in your mind...not a title around your waist. You haven't been to the top of THAT mountain. And here's a newsflash - that title isn't the top. Look at who's wearing it now, Havoc. Our champion is nothing more than someone who only won 'cause he wasn't injured totally or screwed on a regular basis. Radder will tell you where the top of the mountain is, he saw me standing there and I knocked him all the way down."

"I'm not saying you shouldn't have taken advantage of the situation in our match. Especially if you'd sell your own morals for a piece of tin. I've done similar things in my career, I won't deny it. But if you don't want the 'UNANSWERED' questions, don't take the easy way out. Then you're cut from the same cloth as Powers. You want to figure out the puzzle, Havoc? I put the pieces together a long time ago. You might not like what it shows. As for seeing me soon...I'll tell you straight up, right now if I see a wounded animal, I will put it out of its misery. Keep standing on that cliff, Mason...I'll be looking down at you, waiting for you to realize that you still have climb some more...the question really is, do you even want to?"

"Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike..."

"I think you misunderstood me. Believe me when I tell you; I know the CSWA World Title doesn't represent "the top". Trust me. I realize that. But it's most definetely a step in the right direction, and, as far as I'm concerned..."

"...a piece of the puzzle..."

"You and I are two different men, Randalls. We play by different rules - Our OWN. You say I sold out my morals? heh... you don't know a damn thing about me, Randalls - THAT much is evident. I'm an opportunist, at heart. I don't come to lose. If that means you fall victim to your OWN unfinished business... then so be it. I'll always be right there to pick up the pieces and finish the job. What did you expect me to do, Randalls? Powers attacks you... and what... I'm supposed to take a step back... What? Lend you a hand and help you regain your footing? You expected me to help you up and treat your wounds?"

"Screw you, Randalls."

"You come come down on me with your hungrier-than-thou attitude and your snarling half-threats but the truth is... You would have done the same thing."

"TELL me you wouldn't "take advantage of a wounded animal"... TELL me you wouldn't go RIGHT IN for the Kill when the time was right, the blood was fresh, and the meat still warm to the touch. Don't you even TRY to pass yourself off as something you're not. You can play the wise-man routine til the end of time, but I'm seeing you for what you are, Randalls. A double-talking goon with a cape. Oh, you're MEAN. oh, you're ANGRY. Oh, you can't be STOPPED. Well, you know something?"

"I'm MEAN, too. I'm ANGRY, too... and guess what? I'm not planning on being stopped, myself. I meant what I said about wanting to get to the top, Randalls. I want it... and I know what it means. It means I need to match an ANSWER to every question without one. It means that Kevin Powers, Eli Flair, Apocalypse, Sean Stevens and very other loose end in my career has to be dealt with, one way or another... And it very well, indeed, may mean..."

"That road may bring me right to You."

"Don't question whether or not I "want" it, Mike. Don't even waste your time WONDERING."

"Don't question whether or not I "want" it, Mike. Don't even
waste your time WONDERING."

(FADEIN: RANDALLS on the street corner...grinning...)

RANDALLS: "Don't worry I don't. If you knew me at all, you'd know that I don't wonder about a damn thing."

(RANDALLS walks closer to the camera...)

"Like I said Havoc, I'm not a hard man to find. Being an opportunist, that means it shouldn't take you long to seek me out."

(RANDALLS stops and looks above into the sky...)

"If the situations were reversed...You're damn right I would've gone for the kill. A REAL kill. Then there would've been no unanswered questions, just your shoulder hanging out of its socket, and the reporters asking me once again why I threw it down the tube. To me, only the fool seeks gold. The true warrior seeks only challenge, victory and death. I have no beef with you, Mason. I just don't like you throwing my name around. You didn't earn it. As for me and Kevin - he screwed me, I screwed him back. BUSINESS FINISHED."

"You want to pass me off as the double talk, half-threat type of guy, I don't really give a (BLEEP). Its your mistake if you believe that hype. See Havoc there IS a big difference between you and me. You're still seeing where the road takes you...I'm the one that knows where it can go. Seek out your answers, Mason...be my (BLEEP)in' guest. But if you and Powers are gonna wonder if I'm showing up, don't even waste your time. I know I won't."

"Didn't earn it? Earn WHAT? The right to speak your name? Get over yourself, Randalls. I'm hardly "throwing your name around". I was attempting to illustrate a point to Powers.

"That your destiny is just that... ultimately your own."

"You know where the road goes, Randalls? All-seeing... All-knowing... Impressive resumé, trite cliché. You say you've got no problem with me..."

"I'm honored. He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Referred-To-By-Name has no problem with me. That's just... great. Well... I'm not seeking any problems with you, Randalls. You're the one who walked into THIS conversation. You're the one who chose to spout off your 'road-hardened wisdom on all us young-folk'. You make your own decisions. You choose your own destiny."

"You decide your own fate by the choices you make."

"I'm no all-seeing, all-knowing vagrant warrior of the East... but that? That... I DO know."
