Hanging By A Thread

* Suicide RP for C11.

The camera faded in to a park bench in Bryant Park in New York City. There, sitting peacefully was none other than the Mysterious Wanderer himself, Suicide. The weather was a bit humid and rather than have his signature trench coat on, he was instead wearing a suit that matched well with the mask around his head.

Suicide was curiously focused on something in his hand; more specifically, a thread between his thumb and index finger. It dangled in front of him as his gaze was affixed to it.

“Hanging by a thread.

“That is how the old cliché goes. Generally, it means you are in a dire situation and you have one, final hope to cling to to turn your fortunes around. You know, I have had many moments in my existence where I was just... hanging by a thread. One time after the next, I took that one single chance I had and turned the tables. Whether it was losing an organ or two, a car accident, or a fall from grace, I managed to persevere and grow stronger from the experience.”

Suicide let go of the thread as it dropped to the ground before he sat back against the park bench.

“Mr. Cruise, I would like to say you yourself was hanging by a thread at PrimeTime when your career in New ERA was put on the line.

“I would like to say that, but the truth is in your career, you never really worried about such trivial and frivolous matters. I look at you Mr. Cruise and I see a man who does not stand for himself but has others stand for him. Many have told me that you were this force to be reckoned with, a man with true grit and real spirit. However, considering the cashing in of your soul to The First for another failed attempt at the NEW Heavyweight championship, to me it was just another shining example of being handed yet another chance... and screwing it up in the end.

“Whether it was this instance with The First, The Anthology in Empire Pro, or any other numerous wrestlers you have befriended, the truth of the matter Mr. Cruise is you have always been a follower, and never a leader. Sure, you may have walked on through Mr. Montgomery, but now you find yourself in a very peculiar situation. You are now going to face a man who will not budge for anyone. You may feel inclined to believe, much like Mr. Tact and others in New ERA, that I am here to take your place, but the truth is I wouldn’t want your place even if it was given to me.

“I have created my own place in the hierarchy of this organization, as my past matches have shown. I have shown that when I came back, I am here to stay and ready to create my own destiny rather than waiting for it to happen.

“That is you in a nutshell, Mr. Cruise; you are waiting for something to happen rather than make it happen. You tried your best many years ago when you attacked me from behind with a chair shot. I know why you did it Mr. Cruise and I am not angry at you for it. You took the initiative to make a name for yourself.

“But you failed. I didn’t give you the satisfaction. Sure, you can claim you rid of me from Empire Pro, but that is just more false bravado to add to your collection already.

“If you believe in our match that this will be nothing more than a cake walk, you will undoubtedly end up like your old friend, one Mr. Rob Sampson or Tsunami and no longer exist in this sport. So now you have a choice, Mr. Cruise:

“Do you choose to take this match lightly, already planning on how to get by this one not on your skills or athletic ability but by waiting for the inevitable? Or do you choose to take me seriously and realize that your situation went from bad to extremely worse?

“Each and every man I have faced in New ERA was respected for their abilities in the squared circle. I know you have the tools to get the job done, Mr. Cruise. I just hope for your sake, they aren’t rusted. You want another chance at the championship? Then look at the visage of your opponent and come to the realization that there is no easy way out of this. I will neither lay down for you nor step to the side and let you walk on by. Because when it’s all said and done, You will come to learn that maybe you need to take that last slither of hope you have seriously... otherwise it will slip through your fingers.

“‘Nuff said...”

Suicide stood up from the park bench and walked away. The camera then zoomed down to the thread still laying on the ground before it faded out.

Don't Call It A Comeback...

* Cameron Cruise RP for C11.

(Fadein, Cameron Cruise standing dressed in black slacks and a black dress shirt with white buttons, with his hair slicked back and black Anarchy-style shades in front of a Season 3 logo version of a Cyberstrike, complete with italic-style spelling. He mockingly claps his hands EVER so slowly, smirking at the camera.)

CRUISE: Well, well, well....Suicide, we meet again AFTER ALL....or is it Spectre.

Lord knows...I've got enough on my plate to keep me going, now I'm supposed to remember some brat who can't keep a roster spot for more than six months at a time??

But before everyone gets a laugh out of this...believe me...this IS one kid, I remember.

You see, you seem to cling onto the fact that my career was in any danger, when in fact...

I knew what I was doing the WHOLE TIME.

Suicide, you look at me and it's like I've never carried the ball in this business, let alone am I able to put forth a decent, competitive showing.

That kid at Primetime didn't stand a chance, and what's more...it got worse when he just didn't get what everyone else told him in the last EVER:

"No Means No."

Which is something you just don't exactly understand yet.

Yes, I know you had afew moments.

Everyone does.

Taking a worse shot here, a shot there....the car accident that strangely had you off a wrestling company roster for a SECOND time in as many months.

Unfortunately, until last season...that put you "Out of Action", for quite frankly...the better part of ten years.

For being out almost a decade, Suicide...you've got an interesting way of the definition for "Perserverence".

Skipping months and years at a time before showing up to remind audiences that you indeed had a chance at a career in this business is NOT the way how to do things, kid.

No, you don't know me, you only pretend to do so based on what you've SEEN me do.

Especially when I was the one who stopped you from nearly ending OTHER careers of wrestler's in this industry, back when you were in Empire Pro as well.

(Cruise smiles as he takes a moment to let it sink in.)

That's right, I'm not a leader to you, but that's okay....Denial isn't just a river in Egypt.

That's right, I said it.

(Cruise continues)

I'm not a Leader but I've been one of the very few who's lasted as long or longer than anyone else in New Era's Battle Brawl, three events running.

Granted, I've yet to win the darn thing, but I don't see it as a bad experience, but one I can only do better by WINNING.

In the meantime...you're nowhere to be found.

You don't think I'm a leader, yet at the same time...I show up to every show on the schedule, ready to work.

Your three wins you had last season...sparingly, which is not exactly what I would call "impressive."

In fact, your first win was my RECENT win, so case in point...

Anything you do I can do and HAVE DONE...BETTER.

You've held ONE title in this company's history...for about a month, before getting "injured", and then that's the last we heard from you, as I said...until recently.

I won the SAME title from a man who held it for almost THREE YEARS, the longest Championship reign in history...and also held the NEW Tag Team Championship at the same time.

You don't think I'm a leader but it was only after I signed a contract with Paul Freeman and Empire Pro that I saw what you were doing there, and took action.

No one else did, and as a reward, I won a Four-way match in Empire Pro to receive the VERY FIRST World Heavyweight Championship title shot.

As far as taking in the consideration of what The First had in store.....he had the right track, this is true.

I also failed at accomplishing what I had set out for, this is also true.

But the man does have legitimacies in his arguments, kid, something that EVERYONE ELSE had failed at convincing me in at the time, and continues to do so today.

But I didn't cash in my soul...I cashed in an opportunity at taking ADVANTAGE.

See, you don't know The First at a level, like I do; The First is SMART, he found a loophole in the system.

Which is more than I can say for you, son....you think I've screwed up another chance at succeeding??

At least I've been making a constant ATTEMPT; you think I've been waiting for something to happen, after I just explained to you something fairly simple; I earned a shot like everyone else...and then I TOOK another one.

You??

Hell, until last season, you've been at home.

The fact is that you think I'd even be OFFERING you my "spot", when the truth is that despite your handful of victories in New Era since last season....you don't deserve to shine my boots.

If it's not one thing, it's another.

You see son, I don't take kindly to people who think they know my career better than I do, especially when they don't show up a few months at a time and still expect a handsome paycheck.; that stuff generally doesn't work around here.

One might think that after you leave two different places...and don't return for the better part of a decade, that you don't incur...a destiny. No, unfortunately as well as for the rest of the New Era Roster, you're gonna learn fairly quickly...the destiny incurs YOU.

What more "false bravado" can I show you??

I'd like to believe that "Mister Main Event" Rob Sampson is performing somewhere....but I can't say much for someone like Rob, because Rob on a completely different level entirely, much like Tsunami.

However...if you wanna be technical about it...I just saw Tsunami last week, which means, two things:

One: Yes, somewhere on this planet...Tsunami is proving you wrong by LIVING.

Two: Everyone else but you is able to heal from an "accident", and even furthermore...

Still doing alot better than you are.

I've been waiting for you to show your face---er---mask, for seven years, to see you in the ring again.

Not to ask you to lay down your roster spot, not even to ask you to step aside; on the contrary.

I plan on going straight THROUGH YOU.

(Cruise takes off his shades as the camera pans closer.)

I just ended a man's career in New Era at Primetime...LEGALLY....and I get to start Season three against not just anyone...I get YOU.

(Cruise smirks again)

As far as MY situation is concerned??

It's like it's Christmas in JULY.

And I'm bringing more than just a Red Rider Bee-Bee Gun.

I'm bringing the whole ARTILLERY.

And there's nothing you can do about it.

Cliché

* Suicide RP#2 for C11.

The camera faded in to an outdoor area in front of a nice restaurant in the Upper East Side of Manhattan. There, sitting in a table for one, was once again the Mysterious Wanderer himself, Suicide. In front of him was a cup and saucer as he placed a tea bag in what appeared to be hot water, judging by the steam rising from within. He prepared his beverage carefully as he enjoyed the sense of calm all around him.

“I thought I would find another cliché about your current situation, Mr. Cruise, but then a question appeared within my mind:

“Which one?

“Given your seemingly confrontational and spiteful words, not to mention the egocentric way you play off your successes while trying to sully my name with questionable allegations, where would I begin?

“Do not throw stones at glass houses? A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush? Maybe keep your friends close and your enemies closer?

“But then, within that instant, I came to the realization that stared at me from the very beginning:

“You are a cliché, Mr. Cruise.”

Suicide placed a cube of sugar within the tea cup and stirred it with a teaspoon.

“There is nowhere to begin on how that is because, it seems with you, there is no end. For instance, a man, or who claims he is, to call me a kid or boy and yet comes up with a compelling argument that rivals that of an elementary student is seemingly paradoxical. I’m sure your insults would make children’s mouths agape and speechless at the schoolyard playground during recess, but they are nothing more than droll and reeks of desperation.

“Which leads to another shining example, that of your claim that you made the attempt to succeed even though you have proven myself correct on the fact that you have been given more chances than earned. What is even comical about the situation is you boast about all of these opportunities that you claim you have made for yourself... and yet fail to accomplish the task at hand. Is it really success if you do not succeed that which you are setting out to do?

“It is interesting you brought up the matter of one Mr. Montgomery and how you childishly claim that you can do anything I can do, only better. Given the fact, that you pointed out, that I did in fact face off against the same man as you and the fact that I had beaten him before you, using your logic and deducing skills, would it not be fair to say that I handed you your opportunity to save your career in New ERA? Though, in retrospect, by simply defeating a man soundly that you had to face in order to save your job, I guess you should be thanking me and praising me for being your savior...

But that is a bit ridiculous, now isn’t it?”

Suicide took a sip from his tea and enjoyed the flavors in his mouth. He nodded as he placed the tea cup back on the saucer.

“Now myself, a man you claim who has done nothing but stagnate on a couch for years, came back from some coma-induced slumber it seems... and just stumbled into my successes against opponents who aren’t up to your caliber. That is what you would want to believe, because the truth seems to make your situation a bit harder to digest. I guess in your little bubble that you shield yourself from the truth with, New ERA is the only wrestling organization in existence and therefore, by not being a part of it for seven, long years, I must have been fiddling away with my life. And yet, during my departure from my first tenure in this great company to my arrival only a few short months ago, I have had the honor and pleasure wrestling for many great promotions. So I assure you, my inactivity from this great sports is far shorter than the numbers you seemingly projected out of thin air. Unless of course there was a shift within the time-space continuum that I am not well aware of.

“Mr. Cruise I do not take great joy in ending one’s career, but that is more on my opponents than myself. Like Mr. Sampson, they chose to not take their situation seriously and they became nothing more than victims of circumstance. That is why I gave you fair warning; by going down the same path as they and many others have had the displeasure of walking, you have forgone any liability of both you and myself. For instance, Chaos had not heeded my warnings and now, he is but a distant memory. I know you pride yourself on becoming this big name in our sport, but the pace you are setting at will make it unattainable. If you wish to run right through me, I suggest becoming an apparition or developing some mutangenic powers within the next few days because I assure you, what you are claiming will definitely not happen.

“This is why I always stress, with the utmost importance, that you need to take not just myself, not just this match, but yourself and your abilities seriously. Despite what I think about you as a character and person, the truth of the matter is I respect what you have done inside the ring. I know you are credible in the ring. At a given notice, you can pull a victory out nowhere and survive for another day. That is who I want to face, Mr. Cruise. If I can get that man in the ring at Cyberstrike, it should be a great battle.

“However, should I meet the same man who feels that I am nothing more than a gift wrapped just for him, laced with a big, red ribbon, ready to be open, I can undoubtedly assure you, Mr. Cruise, the surprise inside may not be the one you are expecting... and one you may not like.

“‘Nuff said...”

Suicide took another sip of his tea as the camera faded to black.

....I've been here for years!!!

* Cameron Cruise RP#2 for C11.

(CUTTO: Cruise, dressed in black slacks and and dark blue sports jacket, in front of the Boston Arena where Cyberstrike will be held.)

CRUISE: "Trying to sully"??

Really Suicide, you should've listened to the Jedi-Master when you had a chance:

"Do or Do not....there is no try."

The fact is that you don't say anything different that anyone else hasn't tried to get under my skin with.

“You are a cliché, Mr. Cruise.”

(Claps, mockingly.)

Bravo kid, you got me GOOD.

By the way...you can think you're a man by stepping in the ring and giving it a go with the rest of the big boys, but I call you kid or son or sport, or anything else comparable to such a label because to me that's what you ARE.

Case in point....I debuted in Empire Pro by making an IMPACT at your expense, and the bonus was the noble cause of it all. You were a rebel then because you didn't want to abide by the rules and you're still a rebel now by wearing that mask on that mug you call a face...I get it.

But once I stopped you from nearly ending men's careers....oh there went the metaphorical water-works, the metaphorical temper-tantrum; you took your ball and went home.

So...SLICK, if anything I've said has come alittle sophomoric to you...which as I said a minute ago...alittle hypocritical on your part...speak for yourself.

Remember, I've been running full-bore these last fifteen years, I stuck around after someone proved me wrong and STILL was a model for success, and if I got hurt....I didn't need over half a decade to heal up and get back to doing what I love.

But whatever blows your hair back, kid.

Yeah, I've had opportunities, probably moreso than you can imagine elsewhere as well...but at least I've HAD them to use.

You can't protect yourself on a liability that I might be somewhere you want to be or that you might get into another "Accident", by staying away and staying home, forever.

See kid, call it whatever you want...taking a break...difference of opinion with management, WHATEVER...the fact is that you're STILL wrong, and I'm STILL right.

Even if it's a moral victory, a win is still a win son, and in this business...in this COMPANY....

If you wanna be the best, be the New Era Champion...then that's what you've gotta DO.

You call me my claims childish but yet, I say again...look in the mirror. If you're believing that you're better than me in the ring...why wait so long to prove it??

The fairness in your logic is SHIT, by the way.

Your beating a man before I even had the opportunity to do the same doesn't change the fact that he was still here after your victory, and his spot on the New Era Roster is gone after MINE.

Fact is, I don't know why I was even given such a punishment to begin with....all I did outside of not becoming Champion was WIN.

Oh, I know...people are going to point out how I was counted out against Chaos...but really, in the grand scheme of things, I still proved my points to him, so I still pulled out the victory.

Regardless of what the recordbooks say...it's still a victory to me, and at this point that's the only thing that counts.

Even if you're the one that brought this all up about Empire Pro to begin with.

The point is that I've made a career out of proving others like you...and BETTER than you...wrong, based on my own merit. Sure, I've got other business elsewhere that I take care of...which quite frankly is still MY business....but for the sake of chalking another point up for Team Cruise Versus The World....I could care less what you were doing when you went home.

None of that matters to me, unless of course it includes a reason why you stayed away for so long.

You're a hypocrite, kid, and deep down you know it.

You call this company great, and it is...that part I'm not disputing. Yet, for the better part of a DECADE, you were no where to be found to experience WHY.

Even if you WERE active and competing...you weren't HERE.

You weren't absolving your faults in NEW ERA.

What intrigues me is that you sit there and spout off how you don't take joy in ending careers, yet for the last ten years...that's what you TRIED TO MAKE A CAREER OF.

If it wasn't other's careers, it was your own.

This isn't an After-School Special, Slick. Everyone knows they have a decision to make about everything in their lives, a choice between this or that...should I or shouldn't I...

But you did what you did because you thought you could get away with it.

And much like you in general...it's just WRONG.

Say what you will though, Suicide, because you're the only one that's drinking it in.

I never said I was going to destroy you, Suicide, you're not that important. I've been waiting for you to show your face again so I can prove to the world how UN-impressive you are.

And you are.

As far as you're concerned...you're only difference between you and the rest of the company is what you did in the past. Otherwise...you're step number two on my way toward another title shot.

Whether you tap out or get put down for three seconds, that's all I care about, because I guarantee you Suicide...just like the last seven years: once the bell rings and those seven seconds are used to announce I've been declared the victor again, I will forget about you after the next five.

And I'll STILL...have a better career than you.

Is it being arrogant?? Sure.

But then again, I've never been proud of putting someone out on purpose.

Mister Montgomery didn't belong here, in New Era....it wasn't a personal attack by any means. He just couldn't keep up with the competition, so I did him a favor.

I eradicated "the Magnificent One" from his name and sent him packing.

Whether he does Accounting for a firm now is also beneath me to care, but the fact is that he'll be better off.

As for you...it's nice to know that you respect me, Suicide, because I DON'T respect you.

Not after the last decade, I just can't.

Doing so is more like a homicide than I wish to consider.

And since you relish in a name like SUICIDE...

Who am I to keep you from pertaining to such closure??

Only your future New Era Champion.

But that's 'nuff said.
