All the drama surrounding NFW's run with the Ultratitle had to do with management storylines. At the same time, you're talking about 3-5 people *****ing about it versus the 50+ people that were involved with it for the 4-5 year run.

I think you're remembering what happened in 1997...and I really don't foresee FWC ever returning to that type of atmosphere. I also think EPW and NFW are at a point, where they wouldn't recognize a title like that as being greater than their own World Championship...because their championship lineage is far greater.

That's not to say we couldn't do it if we put our minds to it, but I think Brunk and myself get along so well because we're far better off as non-competitive feds vs. competitive. You have to understand that NFW and EPW are completely different animals due to their fedheads having completely different philosophies on how to run things.

Now, if Merritt/Thomas were active and back...then we have a duo that kinda fall between where Brunk and I stand philosophically and we'd also have two guys we both trust in terms of judging/booking.

There's also the fact that TEAM does big tournaments all the time, so I'd feel we'd be doing them a disservice to all of a sudden hold a separate tournament to crown a 'Unified' FWC Champ.

'97 was exactly what I was talking about.. I actually didn't know there was any drama at all when NFW brought it back lol. I knew you guys brought it back, but I didn't know what happened thereafter cause that's when I left. You're right though, it's usually the handful of people b*tching that overshadow the other participants. There's definitely more trust between the fedheads now than there was back then, at least that's the impression I get. I do think, though, that the whole "There can be only one!" aspect of the Ultratitle can cause drama all by itself.

Ironically, the drama never had anything to do with the Ultratitle. It had to do with me exploding a cage during an Interconference War Games match and starting a storyline outside of the Ultratitle. The funny thing is that the people in the War Games match weren't the ones who got pissed.

1997 on *P was something else tho...I mean...Schmid got pooped on.

Hence, Katz Must Die.

And I think Schmid got pooped in 96, but I do drink a lot...

Was that GUNS or Randalls that got screwed over to Ares? I keep thinking it was you who got screwed. But yeah, that was the worst instance of half the committee trying to get the belt on their friend that I've ever seen. Totally unrelated but funny story involving Engleman (Ares): in my old fed, I booked him against Rob Leland (Void) for the title. Engleman's first RP was literally a one liner where he wrote "ARES: I will win" and then OORP: "that should do it." He was actually just trying to bait Rob into getting the RP started, but Rob took it as Engleman acting as if he was so below him that a one liner would get him the win. So Rob responds with a page long diatribe like "You know Engleman, this is why you're a f*cking d*chebag, I really can't stand pr*cks like you..." etc. He also called him out on being handed the Unified Title by his friends. It turned into a whole sh*tstorm, but they cleared it up and everything was cool after that. That's just one of my memories of the endless bulletin board drama from that time. It sucked to see my two top guys fighting, but at the same time, the misunderstanding and initial response was pretty friggin' hilarious, I have to say!

Randalls won it back from Ares, I think. It was the Hellion match that was the divisive moment where CS actually went as far as not to recognize the match and the Unified Title got scrapped.

The worst moment of that time for me was when people revolted against JN's decision for 'X-Man' Michael Sparks to win the UWA Random Rumble and he closed it in response to the BS Drama. That actually sealed the deal for me and I left *P and didn't come back to the hobby until 2000.

All in all, it served a purpose. Alot of the BS Drama served as the backbone of JN and my feelings on how to run NFW. Basically, I'm the bad cop.

Ooooh right, Hellion, I totally forgot about that dude. I remember the whole X-Man fiasco though. I don't think people took it very well that somebody came out from left field to win big in UWA, yet it's funny because for a while I remember people complaining that the same guys always won. See, that's what you get for trying something new! What I like about FW now is that people seem to better comprehend that it's just a hobby. Nobody gets paid, and level of involvement is optional. Some might say "Well, if I put a lot of effort into a match and it doesn't get written or I get screwed, then that pisses me off." I can appreciate that, but at the same time you have to think back to why you're involved in the first place. Do you write because you want to compete with and defeat other people? Or do you write because you enjoy it? I'm a pretty competitive guy, but in FW I could care less. If I want competition, I play hockey or grapple or play XBox online. But in FW, especially since victory can't be quantified and it basically amounts to a pageantry of characters and writing, who the f*ck really cares who wins? Really. I'd rather be involved in a cool storyline than win, actually. Do I want to win? Sure. If I lose when I thought I should have won, do I say to myself "F*ck that, that's BS"? Yeah! But I get over it in about three seconds. Bottom line, I just enjoy writing, FW really helped me become a good writer when I was in HS, and coming up with crazy characters to have fun with and make my friends laugh is more than enough satisfaction for me. I used to get bent out of shape about not being "put over" but that was when I was in HS and wasn't getting laid. Poontang changes all that, it really does. For all I care, you can have my characters lose to a convicted sex offender retired ice cream man named Walter McTwinkle.

If there's one positive about this bored going through long stretches of inactivity, it's that it indicates the members here actually have lives. Can't say that about every forum, or practically any other forum for that matter. I'm a member on some forums where people rack up 10,000 posts in less than a year, they start dating other forum members, and they literally log on 12 hours per day. I am definitely on the internet a lot, but some of these people put me to shame. Plus I'm at a desk all day, so it's easy for me.

Re: FW Gut Reactions - First Quarter'09

1. The State of FWrestling.com

I try to use the site as much as possible. It's got everything it NEEDS. Unfortunately eW isn't anywhere near as active as it used to be and there just isn't that much activity to update the site (IMO). People can get all the updates through the forums which is essentially the foundation of fW, which is totally cool with me.

2. The State of FWrestling Central

I'd like to see more activity. But that could be because I'm unemployed lol. I need to open my attention to some of the other feds besides NFW.

3. EPW

I cannot say I'm 100% familiar with all the storylines but it seems to be about as active as NFW, so I should really get on it. I don't talk to anybody from EPW and I should work on that too to help get caught up on whos who and whats what.

4. NFW

I love it. Best fed I've ever read. It's essentailly kept me in the game and brought me back from a huge hiatus. I love the freedom and ability to come off the top of the dome with roleplays and writing. I also enjoy that match writing is what you make it and LOVE the style that the Houseshows are written. I also enjoy the style of the fed, reminds me of a zanier ECW which is always a huge thumbs up x2. Katz is the ****in man for what he lets slide and what he's open to. He also thinks up some of the best angles/stipulations/match endings I've ever read. JK saved my eW interest. I totally owe him a few beers/lap dances.

5. TEAM

Unfortunately I'm not familiar at all. I'd also love to get caught up on.

6. Should we look for any feds to convert?

Being sort of a newer handler I always think we shold give different feds a chance to get the publicity here at fW. I think some more feds would increase the activity. I think if we boruhgt some good, promising feds and showed them the way we'd TOTALLY increase the stock here. Like somebody said I also agree that I wouldn't want pic base geocities feds or handlers in and around (Ahem Varga Ahem.) JK JK and not Jon Katz.

7. Top Current Storylines

Mayfield hating the entire NFW organization. Eat your heart out Vince McMahon. I literally almost hate Mayfield when I get into character and that takes a lot out of a writer to induce.

8. Top Current Wrestlers (name 5)

1. JTP 2. Impulse 3. Rook Black 4. Felix Red 5. Cameron Cruise

9. Top Current Tag Teams (name 3)
10. Top Current Feud (name 1)

JTP vs the World

11. Predict a Swerve

I can't top Biff Busey winning the NFW title. Priceless.

12. Match you want to see in 2009 (don't use your characters)

JTP vs Wells should be interesting. JTP vs Mayfield would also probably own my life.

13. Top Current Handlers (name 5)

Devin, Katz, RK, Brandyn

14. What would you like to see next from FW.com?

More updates, new rankings, FW WIDE RANKINGS, some fed wars in the terms of more inter-fed matches, maybe even some interfed PPVs.

15. Random Thoughts?

Make them stop.

Alright, these are things that have been discussed before on the boards, but i think it's high time to discuss them again!!

FW Central Hall of Fame There have been alot of cool characters that have come through here over the years and we should totally have some kind of... something to give them shout outs! People need to know about the Joey Meltons, the Sean Edmunds, the Mike Mansons, the Hornets, the Lindsay Troys, the Solians and so on and so forth, that have been running through these feds for a decade (and sometimes longer if you go back to the P* days.)

A FWC-wide Champion Maybe I'm alone in this, and i know there was the Ultratitle thing in the past and that technically TEAM is an interfed, but I've always liked the idea of crowning a site-wide champion that would tour the feds of FW Central, sort of like the NWA champion visiting the different territories. All of the feds would sitll have their own titles, but then we'd have this champion popping in all over, creating different match-ups and fresh storylines in all the feds. Just a thought.

If we just had someone well respected enough to handle such things and didn't have any serious strings attached to any leagues anymore. I mean, someone who has experience putting together things like huge comprehensive lists of wrestlers over the course of years, and handling annual award festivities and things like that.

Anybody know anyone qualified?
