Re: Guerrilla Grindhouse World Tour 02 Feedback Thread

Match of the Night: I actually enoyed Cancers match(es) the most.

Segment of the Night: The backstage one by cVc.

Surprise of the Night: The returns qualify. :)

Holy Shit Moment of the Night: Hard to surprise or make me mark out but the returns, ALL THE RETURNS made me raise my brows and go: "Hunh, that wasn't expected."

Babyface of the Night: I'm going with Dewey. The reason why is because of what happened to him, I like him more then Cancer on this night mostly because I'm interested in seeing where he goes from here. What he'll do, etc... How he'll respond.

Heel of the Night: Toss up between cVc or Box.

MVP of the Night (IC): I felt like Box carried the show with segments, in ring and otherwise. Really shows that he's a guy that DEF can be built around.

Best Line of the Night:
Here I'm going to agree with cVc, it made me go: "Heh, that's funny."

Angus:

FUCK YOU BRONSON!

What Ruled?
Some of the guys carried the show quite comfortably. Box did it well, cVc I felt had a bigger impact then Box. But Box had overall larger story, bigger plot, I was more emotionally invested in seeing his downfall.

What Sucked?
Formatting issues really. Ty Walker match had some omitted lines from Angus.

I got lost with Rainwood and who was talking and who was directing. It was formatting issues for me, not the promo.

Same issues with Eugene segment as I got completely lost, and I like Eugene. I got lost on the above segments due to the formatting not because of any part of the writers. I couldn't tell if Eugene or Wayne was talking, and then I got lost with who was saying what. :( -- This all got changed. I read the show hot off the press

My own formatting addended since I'm on a computer.

Whatever Else You Can Think Of:
Good show, I would've _loved_ to see more from Kai. He's the top heel, with the top belt and a match that should be main eventing. This isn't to say he isn't over with me. He is, but I think anything involving the guy with the top belt should be at the top and his segments start the night/end the night. Technically I should be hating Kai more then cVc and Box. But that can be fixed next show, I look forward to hating you Kai. :) You also get the ~COOL as an angle partner so I expect big things (badumtish) from you two.

Would also like to see more from the Trios champs next show OR their main feud partner. There's a lot of noise on the card but I feel like the Trios

Edit: I agree 1,000% with Lee on the spoilers. I don't want to be spoiled on a show. I don't want to know that Cancer or Eugene has two matches unless I'm involved in one of those matches so I can plan my stuff accordingly. This isn't to say that I don't love the fact that people are getting double duty on cards (and that's amazing tbh)! I don't want to know anything about the segments anyone elses segments or matches. I want to be entertained and part of that is being surprised. We should think about a system to label every segment as vaguely as possible, easy for Justin to understand without getting 100 pms from the roster and easier for him to Veto if he doesn't think it fits. I can say that I haven't been this entertained with reading a card in quite sometime, but knowing some of the surprises kind of sucks the wind out of it. Even a spoiler tag on stuff would make sense to me.

Also, in the words of Chris Jericho, you never bury your opponent completely. You have to give and take. If you're giving it all and putting yourself over for 3 shows, you'd better damn well put your opponent over on that fourth show.

We're no longer in competition with each other over who can roleplay the best. The competition now is which pair/group can tell the better story. And which fed tells the better overall story.

Match of the Night:
Dewey/cVc(I didn't write it.) I love the whole match and I know I participated in it but in my personal honest opinion it's the best match on the entire card. The way Damien wrote it was perfect and it had the big time match feel about it the whole time. I loved it.

Segment of the Night:

No More Tears.

Surprise of the Night:

Dusty Griffith.

Holy Shit Moment of the Night:

Wayne Dewey!!!

Babyface of the Night:

Eugene Dewey. Damien is on top of his game right now and deserves full credit.

Heel of the Night:

Box and Stratton. I think they both were top tier the whole show and rather than pick one, they both get mentioned from me lol.

MVP of the Night (IC):

Eugene Dewey

Best Line of the Night:

Angus:

FUCK YOU BRONSON!

What Ruled?

Heel of the Night: Toss up between cVc or Box.

That feedback ruled for me lol. Mentioned in the same breath as Box is wicked awesome. I think we all locked in and got shit done, and we all deserve a pat on the back. Out early like bosses.

What Sucked?
Only thing was I agree some of the segments got a bit confusing at certain times but its all transition and will get better and better. Really awesome show.

Whatever Else You Can Think Of:
I like the new guys coming up and getting involved. I like the spirit they bring in ready to rock and fucking roll. I love all the new stuff flooding in and reading these new characters. We got special something here in DEFIANCE that is special if you ask me. I was really honest on this feedback and I hope it doesn't make look me like a dick but shit happens haha. I was honest as I could be.

Match of the Night:
cVc vs Dewey

Segment of the Night:
cVc's first. Jayzuss, Dan, cVc gets more evil/demented as you go, which I approve, of course.

Surprise of the Night:
Nothing really stood out in that regard. Right now we know who everyone is at the moment, so, yeah.

Holy Shit Moment of the Night:
cVc selling Charlene to slavers.

Babyface of the Night:
Eugene Dewey

Heel of the Night:
cVc

MVP of the Night (IC):
cVc

Best Line of the Night:
cVc just running down Charlene. Dunno why I get a kick out of that stuff, but I do.

What Ruled?
Got this bitch piece done on time, with time to spare.

What Sucked?
Nothing was offensively bad.

Whatever Else You Can Think Of:
We're still learning on the run, obviously, some are adapting well, some not so much, on the whole? We're making good progress. I figure we give it a few months and maybe, just maybe, we'll be churning out events like clockwork without many, if any, problems other than the occasional real life glitch getting in the way.

Re: Guerrilla Grindhouse World Tour 02 Feedback Thread

Match of the Night:
Jiles/Booth and the tag match that followed.

Segment of the Night:

The best title of the night goes, hands down, to 'King Shit of Turd Mountain'. The best segment I'd give to the Blood Diamonds for Villains. There was no dicking around there. Two guys on the same page cutting a damn good promo together. I'd also like to give a special nod to Max for 'I'm a Big Bright Shining Star'. But that's because I heart Seth Stratton and anything Seth Stratton related.

Surprise of the Night:

I'd say all of the returns in general.

Holy Shit Moment of the Night:
There weren't any real 'Holy Shit' moments in my mind... other than the time that the show was released.

Babyface of the Night:
Cancer.

Heel of the Night:
CVC - The guy is such a cunt with all of his cunt like antics.

MVP of the Night (IC):
Cancer Jiles for getting that #1 contenders spot

Best Line of the Night:

Angus:
I said, AND SO CANCER IS GOING TO WIN HIS BELT BACK AND THEN EVERYTHING WILL BE AWESOME AGAIN.

What Ruled?
The LBC's group image having the capitalized LEGITIMATE makes it seem like they're really trying too hard to emphasise their legitimacy. I like that. Oh, and need I say it? EARLY MU'FUKZ!

What Sucked?
People getting lost in Eugene's segment. I really didn't think it was hard to follow, but if it was then I'll try and sort that out for the next show.

The lack of segments in the second half of the show. Seriously, were there even any?

Whatever Else You Can Think Of:

This was much better than the last show, but there's still room for improvement in a few areas.

Let's make this level of improvement again for show 3 and really start knocking them out of the park.

Re: Guerrilla Grindhouse World Tour 02 Feedback Thread

This is the part where I bitch a lot and sound like I hate everything and everyone. I don't.

*Should the pre-show be written in past tense or present tense? Because we got some of each.

*The Kai Scott/Cancer Jiles segment should have been a lot better than it was. George and I just had a lot of trouble getting on the same page and the seg was written in about a night and a half, plus we never even got to work on it at the same time. Whoever t'was said that Kai Scott should've done more, I absolutely agree. What I was going for with Kai Scott is a Raven-in-WCW, "You can't make me wrestle because I have an infinite amount of goons to hide behind", and sort of like using Kai as CSS's manager to be interesting for her, it's not working in efeds as well as it did in real life. I don't know. I'm trying to put other people over here, and my main dude seems to be getting lost in the shuffle even though he's the champ.

* I want to like the Box/Ryan feud, I really do, and it's so close to being a top quality feud but there's something that's holding it back from that. IF Dan Ryan's really feeling regret for injuring Virginia and is doing more than Bronson for paying her hospital bills and care, and if Box is really just crying crocodile tears, then make it clearer that that's what's going on. Or if that's not what you're going for, I don't know - someone really needs to call Box out on his bullshit, and I mean that in a good way.

*Wayne Dewey managing Seth Stratton?! Lee = Swerved.

*And so CVC sells his woman into slavery. On live TV. Seriously? Defiance got sued and shut down for months because Box broke a woman's leg, but this gets sold with a boner joke as opposed to the police raiding the show? I love Dan (no homo) I love CVC, but I fucking hate offensive for offensive's sake, especially when it causes big fucking plot holes.

*Decent little promo from Rainwood, which then made me think that was Lash Graham on this show at all? He should've been. It's easy for an opening level feud to get lost in the shuffle, and I recommend that next card that Rainwood and Lash sign up for something that takes place after their matches, assuming they're booked, so that they're higher on the card and get some more visibility.

*Wayne Dewey is an assfag. In a good way.

*Why are the fans booing and cheering and chanting in English in Curtis Penn's segment?

Match of the Night:

CVC vs Dewey.

Segment of the Night:

Wayne Dewey returning as Seth Stratton's manager

Surprise of the Night:

Wayne and Seth costing Eugene the win over CVC. I wish Booya's return hadn't been spoilered on the runsheet though.

Holy Shit Moment of the Night:

I have to agree with everyone who said there weren't any holy shit moments.

Babyface of the Night:

Dusty Griffith narrowly edges Eugene Dewey because he saved the day and Eug lost a match.

Heel of the Night:

CVC is a contemptible prick at all times.

MVP of the Night (IC):

Dusty
Best Line of the Night:

Angus: I said, AND SO CANCER IS GOING TO WIN HIS BELT BACK AND THEN EVERYTHING WILL BE AWESOME AGAIN.

What Ruled?

The timeliness. The matches were all unusually solid, too.

What Sucked?

DDK was annoying tonight. He's supposed to be neutral, not strangling Angus Skaaland and providing one liners.

And people still forgetting the "Japan Fans = No Yay No Boo" thing.

Whatever Else You Can Think Of:

I posted literally everything I could think of at the top of this before answering the poll.

Re: Guerrilla Grindhouse World Tour 02 Feedback Thread

Match of the Night: I think Chance and Dewey was very well written. As was the Booth / Jiles / Dusty / Booya affair.

Segment of the Night: CVC was out there, but pure gold. (see below.)

Surprise of the Night: All the returns were well done.

Holy Shit Moment of the Night: Kai's ever expanding ranks of foot soldiers.

Babyface of the Night: Eugene, mayor of babyface town.

Heel of the Night: CVC with a caveat. You're so close to perfection with this character man, but I'm going to echo Lee a little bit by saying this. I keep myself in check with Box by drawing a line in the "reality sand"... I want to be as wacky and evil with Box as I can without stepping over that line. I drew that line around the time I had Box kidnapping kids and shit. It was a LITTLE to far and it still bugs me personally when I think back on it. If anything in this game is to have impact or a wow factor there needs to be roots in reality and consequences when things "go to far"... if not there is no "going to far and we should start writing in murder and time travel.

That all being said, keep up the good work dude. Still one of the best reads.

MVP of the Night (IC): Cancer and Dusty

What Ruled? Early cards give me morning wood.

What Sucked? Not a whole hell of a lot.

Whatever Else You Can Think Of: If we can crank out the rest of this tour like we did this card DEF is in a REALLY good way. The shit Justin has mentioned he has planned for after this tour sounds so goddamn fun so keep this pace up people, this place is just going to keep getting more kickass.

My match was probably my bad, I tried to sell the audience being different as well. I didn't get to proof read my match because I was at work at the time I wrote it, and I wanted to make sure I got it out to Justin so I could concentrate on other antics.

I usually stay out of the feedback, but I want to put a comment down on this.

Box/Bancroft was one of the best feuds Defiance ever saw, and even though the kidnapping angle was a little "out there", it was treated with the respect and gravity it deserved. Bancroft was grief-stricken and infuriated through the whole thing, the Hydra broke up over it, and Eric Dane as boss felt repercussions over having allowed it - if you all remember, it's one of the things that Elijah Goldman was able to use as an excuse to say Dane didn't know how to be a professional and go over his head. Meanwhile, CVC commits a crime that could get him put away for life in front of a live audience and absolutely nothing happens.

Like I've always said, the more offensive and out-there you're going to be, the more important it is to do it carefully and do it right. Otherwise it's not any better than the High Octane Fucktards who still think committing murders in their RPs = effective heel work.

Re: Guerrilla Grindhouse World Tour 02 Feedback Thread

I'm gonna tie it all up. I understand what's being said here but when it all comes down to it, its a show. I didn't murder her, and nothing she can come out of(the plan is some one in the fed bought her), its a storyline. Everyone I was working with was off in opposite directions doing other stuff so I set that for another feud later down the road and to get rid of Charlene without having to completely get rid of her. My understanding was we aren't on tv anymore but to look at it like we are being filmed for a documentary. I will have to pay for what I done because I'm the heel and will have to pay the piper. Comparing me to HOW fuckers is a personal insult Jeff. I know what you all are saying, I get it. I loved the segment, I stand by it.

I still "liked" it, despite that. When I say I liked it, I mean I hated it. This is a heel we're talking about so my hate = love. If that's making sense.

It was my understanding that we weren't on live television anymore. I still think that got more heat from me personally then Box or Lee has on this show. I was like: "The other shoe has to fall," and it didn't - which is good as cVc gets over. I'm sure that cVc will get his comeuppance. The only thing I could suggest is make it more vague what you're doing and what you're implying, so that its even more frightening if left unsaid.

example: "You used to service me... Now, you get to service them, or whoever bought out your contract with me. Goodbye."

:p rough but whateves.

I stand by your segment. :)

I liked the seg. I also agree that it was over the top.

But Dan's got my trust, so I'll see where he goes with it.

Also. Food for thought and something for all of us to keep in mind going forward.

It's what these threads are for, we comment and critique so we can ALL be better. No insult or derision meant towards Dan at all. CVC is easily my favorite act in DEF right now.

@Jeffro Oh believe me, the Box / Bancroft angle is easily my proudest moment in efedding. Just wish there has been more legalese involved. Maybe like house arrest or something. Like I said, realistic consequences to match the insane levels of evil. lol

This.

This is what I keep trying to say.

Feedback isn't for ego-stroking, it's for improvement.

It's not about ego stroking for me. Not at all, I just see now I been doing this thread wrong since I got here. I see that now and will fix it on the next feedback thread.
