Rabesque was born and raised in Montreal, raised only by his father. At the age of 10, Rabesque went into a wrestling training school, where he learned the ropes. Rabesque is very guarded about his upbringing. At the age of 18, he departed for the United States, where he toured the country, working in many minor league promotions. In 1996, he got his big break in the NFWA, where he quickly rose to become that federation's last world champion. From there, Rabesque went on to compete across the world, winning many championships. However, many continued to dismiss Rabesque as a minor league champion
