The words flow through Angela Davison like electricity.... this is where she feels alive. It's just her, her band, and her words.
There's her boyfriend, Mike Jacobsen, who plays lead guitar.
There's her best friend, Travis Johnson, synth player.
And there's the twins, Boris and Lawrence Kruspe, bassist and drummer, respectively.
Angela works at Blockbuster Video fifty hours a week, but she always has time for her band. Like the Ozzy song, it gets her through.
As the song comes to an end, she opens her eyes and sees the four guys looking at her approvingly.
"Well?" she asked, "Do we have a winner?"
"Always, Angel," replied Travis, giving her a hug, "I think we've got a potential hit on our hands."
"It's just a matter of someone actually hearing it," said Angela.
"Listen, guys, I hate to cut out on you, but Max wanted me to head to the club early and talk some business with the owners," said Mike, "Later."
He gives Angela a hug and a decent kiss, and leaves the room.
"Now what was that about?" asked Boris, "Why's he having a meeting with Max without the rest of us?"
Angela walks to the refrigerator and removes a bottle of water. "They're old friends, Boris," she replied, "What's the big deal?"
Lawrence looks at his brother with a worried glint in his eye. Angela catches it.
"What?"
"What, you ask," replied Lawrence, "is that this band cannot take off with Max handling our affairs. Sure, we've got the regular gig at Fast to Nowhere, but we can't get anyone's attention that way. Hell, the show we played 'cross town a few weeks back proved that he doesn't know how to promote our type of music."
Angela doesn't answer.... probably because she knows they're right. Mike is an amazing guitar player, and he's the one who introduced them to their manager Max and got the weekly gig at FTN, but that's it.
And it's been over a year since they started playing there.... with the exception of a few sporadic shows.... they're stagnated at FTN.
Something's gotta give.
