APPLICATIONS

Handler Information

Name: Thomas Ford
Email Address: fordianslip@gmail.com
Best Way to Contact You: Facebook / Skype for Messaging, PMs for long term discussion. Google docs too.
eWrestling Experience: I’ve been in Defiance before. I’ve done EPW/NFW/CSWA. I did angle feds (FWO, theAsylum, Jolt, ACW, LoC) and RP feds (PRIME, IWO, FWF, WWR, etc).
How did you find DEFIANCE? Been here before. I almost lost myself on the way back though.
Are you willing to write matches? Willing. Yes. Only if Tom helps me. (BILLY! GET OUT OF MY DOCUMENT - I mean, of course I’ll write, as long as I force Billy to write too.)

Writing Sample

Here's the thing. What we want here in DEFIANCE is for you to sell us on you as a handler. How you do that is up to you. Link us to an old segment. Write a new one. Link to a match you wrote. Just convince us that you want to be here and that you're worth having here.

This is the most important part of your application. I'm serious about that.
This was the very last match I wrote: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1iBMZQ3uHsHcI4BjGIGt6BSDoe9isj5Q9tpoMFUSUBBk/edit?usp=sharing

I think it does well to put other people over :)

And I helped co-write this with Seth a while ago:

Wrestler(s) Information

Please take note of a couple things. It is highly likely that a few roster members will critique your moveset. Please don't be offended. We take that shit seriously here - we don't want a moveset full of finishers and a finisher so ludicrously over-elaborate that it couldn't be done in real life. This goes double if you're applying as a female wrestler. We also check to make sure your finisher(s) and theme song aren't currently being used. It's first come first serve when it comes to those. If you want to get ahead of the game on the finisher and theme song front, take a look at our roster page: http://defiancewrestling.com/roster

And if you're one of those handlers who hates doing movesets, just say so and we'll help you.

Ring Name: The “D”, aka Mr. Ed
Real Name: Derek Edwards
Past Alias: Food, Fly Guy Derek Edwards, Ed
Height: 5’9”
Weight: 176 lbs.

Hailing From: Culver City, California

Alignment:is annoying an alignment? Heel, we’ll go heel. But I’d like it to morph organically kind of like Edge & Christian and now New Day have, if we’re so talented to do so :)

Gimmick: Prima Donna who believes he’s the next Tom Cruise. Even though he’s already 35. Wannabe Actor who’s actually very horrible at it.

Wrestling Style: He’s pretty flippy do, but it’s more because of his showmanship than anything. He’s got good charisma and flaunts it. Think Jericho, WCW era.

Three Weaknesses:

Power - He’s a weak man.

Ego - His ego is strong, but it always hurts him.
Gullibility - The ceiling says what?

Three Strengths:

Charisma - He’s money on the mic. Just don’t ask him to fake something :).

Resilience - Able to take a lot of punishment.
Athleticism - Crisp in ring work.

MOVESET

Ten regular moveset moves:

1)neckbreaker
2)ddt
3)corkscrew vertical suplex
4)various kicks / drop kicks
5)knife edge chops & elbows, no punches
6)taking someone and tossing them shoulder first into the turnbuckle
7)basic technician mat grapples and locks
8)jawbreaker
9)springboards / high flyer moves
10)basic suplexes

2-5 trademark moves:

1.“With Everything” - an homage to his former tag team with manager Josh Klein. A Flying Crescent Kick, Owen Hart style
2.”Contractual Obligation” - Reverse leg sweep faceplant
3)”B Movie” - Ed’s version of a Frogsplash, based off his trainer High Flyer’s 5 ½ star.

Finishing Move: the “A-Lister” (grabs both arms, then code breaker styled double boots to the face)

Handler Information

Name: Billy Dunlevy
Email Address: bdunlevy2@hotmail.com
Best Way to Contact You: Facebook or Skype (knightofcypwnia)
eWrestling Experience: Currently in Legacy of Champions as Vivica J. Valentine, I’ve also handled mainly in PTC feds. Most recently GCW, PRIME, and GLOBAL. (Cue Lindz.)
How did you find Defiance?: I don't live under a rock.
Are you willing to write matches?: Of course, but only if Tom helps me.

Wrestler(s) Information

Ring Name: Elise Ares
Real Name: Ivelise Aresel Guerrero
Past Alias: Amethysta (Masked)
Height: 5' 6"
Weight: 134 lbs.

Hailing From: Beverly Hills, California (by way of Havana, Cuba)

Alignment: Heel

Gimmick: After a successful (HA!) foray into acting after the closure of PRIME, including a speaking part in television movie classic Lake Placid VI: Even Deeper, Elise Ares is making a surprise return to the squared circle. She’s come with new found ally, director, and co-star Derek “The D” Edwards to “give back to the little people” who “have made her so successful today.” The first thing you need to know about Elise is that the entire world revolves are Elise. She is a narcissistic sociopath who lives and breathes drama, she'll do whatever it takes to put the spotlight on herself and her team at the end of the night. There are no rules that Elise isn't willing to break. As a matter of fact she probably doesn't even know what the rules are, doesn't have time for such trivial things between all the things she needs to do for herself.

Wrestling Style: From a family of great lucha libres (is that a word?) Elise Ares has a pedigree and thus a god-given natural ability to wrestle, but that doesn't mean she ever applies herself or that she comes with any sort of sparkling reputation. She shows flashes of brilliance, but will also stumble from time to time (think the occasional original Sin Cara/Mistico style botch). She'll be flashy, flamboyant, and seem super-talented until the going gets rough... then she just gets lazy and tries to cheat to win. Like there is enough time in the day to be beautiful AND good at wrestling? Please. What do you think this is, Fairy Land?

Three Weaknesses:

1. Arrogant: In the world of Elise Ares, she is the greatest thing to happen to anything in the history of man. She's the best looking, the best walker, the best talker, the best gum-chewer... there is literally nothing that she won't at least try to convince you that she's the best in the world at doing. This makes her feel that she is in control at all times, and makes her very vulnerable to overestimating herself.

2. Size: She is very small, and by reading the other applications I'm aware of the fact that you're going to bring this to my attention. She's bigger than AJ Lee, she's smaller than Beth Phoenix, but she's nicely in-between. She's not the smallest wrestler ever to wrestle. I understand she will be severely out-matched in nearly all feats of strength. This forces her to rely on her speed, finesse, and intellect to leave matches victorious. Think of her in the Matt Sydal or Brian Kendrick role in most matches, only you know... completely and utterly hated.

3. Laziness: When the going gets tough, Elise just tries to cut corners. That's the story of her life. She'll lie, cheat, steal, do whatever she has to in order win as long as it doesn't involve working really, really hard. More of her wins will probably come via foreign objects behind the refs back or pull of the tights then will come from her finisher. If she's put into a situation she can't win, she'll probably wave her hands towards the ring and walk away. Leaving it on herself later to explain why it was a total waste of her valuable time.

Three Strengths:

1. Manipulative: Beautiful and convincing, Elise Ares can schmooze with the best of them. She'll tell you exactly what you want to hear, in the tone of voice that you'd want to hear it, as long as it benefits her own needs. She's talked inexperience referees out of disqualifying her. She's talked many, MANY much larger, brutal men into taking it easy on her or ever worse, doing all of her dirty work for her. She's gifted with a golden tongue, and a perfect 10 face and body to boot.

2. Intelligence: What Elise Ares lacks in physical tools she compensates for in intelligence and cunning. She may have next to no common sense, and therefore comes off as an idiot, but she is fluent in seven different languages and processes information very quickly, leading to a lot of very successful snap decisions. She's out-smarted more people to victory than she's out-wrestled, and most of those may or may not have involved bending the rules just slightly to get the best of a superior opponent. Maybe. Who is keeping track anyway?

3. Speed: Coming from a family of athletes and professional wrestlers, Elise Ares has almost been bred to be a superstar. She has God-given athletic ability and unteachable genetic traits that in most circumstances (and by most circumstances I mean not having the personality and work ethic she has) would make her one of the best in the world. The best of all of these would be her speed, which probably won't be the best in DEFIANCE because she's both small and female (sorry, that's "just science" -- Ron Burgundy), but will be vastly above average. Certainly enough to take almost every competitor by surprise.

Moveset

Ten regular moveset moves (this list sucks, I'm sorry)

1) Lots of Kicks (Dropkicks, Superkicks, Enziguiris, etc.)
2) Armdrag
3) Hurricanrana
4) Planchas, planchas, and more planchas.
5) Headscissor Takedown
6) Flying Cross Body
7) Snapmare
8) Drop-Toe Hold
9) Bulldog
10) Springboards & Aerial moves for days.

2-5 trademark moves:

1) "Que Tal Eso?!" -- Every match after Elise hits a big spot she'll get up and place her boot on the chest of her opponent before using it to step over them. Then she'll yell " Que Tal Eso?" before doing a very rhythmic dance gyrating her pelvis with her hands behind her head before spitting on her grounded opponent.

2) Amethystation -- Superman Punch. I understand this won't work on monsters. That's part of the charm.

3) Miami Vice -- Muta Lock, probably done poorly but sexier!

4) Cuban Necktie -- Elise puts opponent in a bulldog position and runs towards the corner. She then leaps onto the top rope and then drops down, hitting them with an "Ace Crusher" like maneuver with their neck snapping over the top rope. Thus modifying the most overused move in the history of this business. You're welcome.

5) Extreme Makeover -- Double foot curb stomp.

Finishing Move: "Your Feature Presentation" (Phoenix Splash Double Knee Drop)

"MDK" (murderdeathkill) Finishing Move: On Their Face? >=) Let's be honest, she's probably cheating to win a match in the first place.

My name is Tom Ford, and I approve of the above application. Billy has posted it and I am sound of mind to include myself in a tag team with the guy. Who'da known?

NOTE: I am not in the fed, so that is NOT a yes vote. Unless you're stupid enough to count it as one :)

Soooo while I want to vote yes on the shear fact that its Tom Ford alone... these characters both completely feel as if they have the same gimmick I just joined with 2 weeks ago...

Def describes it as "You wont see movie stars here"

well now we have three in two short weeks? So yes, other than gimmick infringement.

I'll add what I told you on Skype... Potential friends? Mikey Unlikely & The Pop Culture Phenoms?

Sounds like a band, yo!

Gooooood point.

I'd like to hear a little more on what differentiates them from Mikey Unlikely.

I understand Mikey's concern completely and I would have raised the same point had I jumped in the thread sooner. I also buy James' explanation as he relayed it to me a couple hours ago.

We need to cap "Hollywood-esque" characters in DEFIANCE going forward, though. My personal exception would be if Danny Ferguson and Chandler Tsonda ever resurface. Since the chance of that happening is slim to none, I'll vote yes provided James' idea is the one put into practice. Also, another tag team for the division revival doesn't hurt.

I will now give this an official yes, as well as rescind my first post.

After talking with both the handlers, as well as James privately, I feel there is enough to go on here, specifically with the potential angle in the works already. Glad to see two more handlers join the fray, especially two Ive heard so much about.

With working together, it will be easy to avoid stepping on one another toes.

That said, I agree with Lindz. We've got three "actors" now. Cap that shit.

To those concerned and not involved in chats, both Elise and the D are aspiring, and are horrible at acting. They are sweet dee from iasip, while Mikey actually has a career :) Ie: they will look up to Mikey as a God and we'll do some synchronous fun stuff together.

I imagine the acting thing will eventually just become part of their backstory / something to make fun of them about. Hell, the movie Ed made will rival the room as the worst contemporary movie in America.

I derped and forgot about Frank Holiday (former stuntman). But who knows if Ken will be back and if he'd even write Frank again.
