Just a quick note: I think Supercrash is, in fact, a "Clash of the Champions" type show and not a PPV. At least I didn't see any mention of pay-per-view on the card...

NFW does like 1 PPV every 5 years, lol. Get on that Eddie! We're missing out on buyrates!

See, making an ass of myself.

SHUT IT BRUNK!

See, making an ass of myself.

SHUT IT BRUNK!

I'm pretty sure everyone in NFW is in it to make an ass of themselves. And that starts all the way at the top. :)

Thank you for the feedback, sir! In all honestly, I think feedback from a fellow long-time FW fedhead always will bring some interesting perspective to those at the table of discussion. That's what the thread is about!

I love that this is the POLARIZING card!

As far as The Windham stuff goes -- I looked at is as Eddie throwing all the paperwork plays right back in their face... except JJ was cagey enough to side-step it at the expense of his mentor, who has become less interested in the power play and, instead, has turned his sites on a dream match against Randalls.

The Windhams vs. NFW is far, far, far from over.

Also: I loved the Impulse doesn't cave in gimmick. But my only problem with Impulse -- he should be polarizing in the Cena manner. NFW has always been an ECW-ish league. I'd imagine at least a large portion NFW fans would gravitate more towards edgy behavior than in a more traditional league. It's always pushed the envelope as to what can and can't be done.

Impulse as a traditional character in this setting has been done well, and the point of the non-chairshot was for him to keep his self-mandated integrity. But, at the same time, Billy's right... these guys killed your unborn child after enslaving you and constantly trying to humiliate you. A lot of NFW would NOT like that and would think Impulse is a p*ssy goody-too-shoes in doing so. Some fans would appreciate Impulse as NFW has developed to becoming a huge enterprise and is no longer having shows at Baltimore nighclubs. But others wouldn't.

Impulse is definitely a face against The Windham Clan and ESPECIALLY JJ. But at least some core of the NFW fanbase wants to see JJ get it -- and not destroying him disappoints them.

I see Castor and Jack Bryant as the guys NFW fans would get behind the most -- they're faces but not in any traditional way. Bryant's a ****-kicking son of the south. Castor's a face because he overcame years of being overlooked to becoming THE guy but is still a manipulative turd who surrounds himself with weirdos. And both guys, if given the opportunity, would have crowned JJ in that situation.

Okay, so, here's my thoughts.

Jack Bryant destroyed JJ to the point of having him back away in tears and give up the TV Title verbally.

At the behest of JJ, Bobby-Jack put Calico Rose through a table, also Impulse got beat up.

-time goes by-

The big "come-uppance" that BJW got was a broken nose? Seriously? You put your hands on my girlfriend and kill my unborn child and you will get much more than some broken cartilage.

And what's the deal with JJ? Does Impulse just not like him?

I don't understand any of this. It looks like Impulse is picking up JB's scraps for no reason other than because. And then he "doesn't cross the line" or whatever because of time passing? I call horsesh*t. I'm with Gregg, Impulse to me is the NFW's Jon Cena, and not in the merch sales department so much as in the completely polarizing just based on the mention of his name. I can't see too many of the "edgy, adult" fans liking a single thing about him, he seems like a pretentious douchebag cityboy with a superiority complex. Though, I could see the kids loving him, because of the whole superhero thing that seems to just get heaped on him.

*shrug*

Or, I could be wrong.

Impulse had been JJ's kickdog for quite some time, both in RP and on card. JJ vs. JB was solely based on the TV title that JJ stole from Bryant, and Bryant's journey of revenge was predicated on that. Impulse never wanted the TV Title back, he wanted JB to get a decent return shot amongst other things. It's not a matter of Impulse "picking up JB's scraps" - they were two separate programs burning at different paces and it's not over.

Braining JJ with a chair is what Billy and you, Justin, would have done. It's what most people would have done. But what would that actually accomplish? Gregg sees the point in it, I almost wrote it that way, but it's not what Impulse would do. He crushes JJ once, what then? It's over and there's no character arc to the thing and that doesn't do me any good - it makes Impulse the same as any generic "I'm a good guy except when I'm not because I have ATTITUDE" wrestler that you can find anywhere. I've wanted to do different things with Impulse from the start and this is part of it.

What it might actually accomplish would be to show some emotion, which you know, tends to add to character arcs. It would give JJ something to hold over Impulse's head, too, which would also add more layers to the character past "me no breakie rules" which everybody in the FWC has been calling tired for probably six months now.

It's predictable, it's dull.

What's gonna happen? What's the big blowoff? Impulse outwrestles the **** out of JJ?

I can't wait to not read that.

Just keep doing what you're doing man, it's "working" fine.

What I liked:
The overall match quality of all the matches written. The Main event turned out really well, as far as match quality goes. As did all the matches in general. It was my first time writing for NFW, and when I submitted my match Katz had to infuse a lot of his own humor in it. My biggest learning curve in NFW will be getting to know the announcers.

What I marked out for:
Luci's behavior, which as a result from either beatings or just her life in general has left her scarred. The announcement of the triple crown title I absolutely loved. Partly due to Stalker being involved? Of course. Stalker is getting to participate in unveiling a brand new title while putting the end to two others. That's huge for him and i'm all about it. Hope it turns out well.

What I didn't like:
Impulse not braining JJ with the chair. The main event not having a true finish. The Fallen, after just aligning with The Windham Clan, look foolish now because The Windhams have no power. I understand why the angle played out the way it did I just wish The Fallen had more to do, granted I didn't volunteer them for anything but not knowing what to volunteer them for has been my biggest issue all along.

What I wish happened differently:
Billy's angle and Katz angle both happened due to either misfiling of paperwork or not reading a contract properly. It wouldn't have been so bad if both of those didn't occur on the same show. But they did and to me that made them both stick out as 'strange'.

Other then that great show and can't wait to see what happens with all of our developing story lines.

I'll say this about my end of Paperwork-gate 2012: it was less about Castor misreading something and more about his entourage misusing their empowerment. Castor trusts Lana because they go back a LONG time, so she knew that she was the only one who could get him to blindly sign a stip. The point was that Austin was goaded into a challenge without thinking it through, and Lana (who feels overshadowed) abused Castor's trust by leveraging his company. It's like the Emperor's wife using his seal for her own purposes. Bottom line: Dane took advantage of thick-headed Guild members to put Castor in a vulnerable position.

I think NFW was due a good controversy, so all of this can only be GOOD.

Best card ever, Katz! :)

Just to be clear about my thoughts on Impulse --

It was absolutely the right thing for the character to NOT hit JJ with the chair. To come as close as possible without actually doing so is the best part -- JJ has come the closest to pushing Impulse over the edge... but Impulse still has his integrity looming over him to not go for it.

But the fans wouldn't universally see it that way. And that's where I think some interesting things can come into play.

And also, I think it's great RP fodder for everyone to use against Impulse.

Also, the timing could NOT possibly be worst. My laptop is pretty much fried. I'm going to get it fixed soon but it might take a bit. I start a new job next week so I have to be on my best behavior, obviously. Sigh... might be some delays on my part.

BEST PART OF THE SHOW: Billy's feedback. Seriously, I'm trying to be quiet because one of my roommates is still asleep, and I can't because I'm laughing too hard. The feedback in general is f*cking great, I think it's much more the sign of a healthy fed than any show posting on time could be. The fact that people care enough about these characters to freak out over angles on a show...it just restores a little bit of the hope in my heart in these dark, uncertain times of political and economic upheaval.

I'll echo what was said about the open. Dating back to the March Madness format of ULTRATITLE Season Two, I've always loved the sports influence on NFW, so the show preview with talking heads doing predictions and break-downs was great. If anything, hopefully this is an area where I can contribute in the future.

I will give the very MADDEST of props to the matchwriters on this card. I typically don't read the matches, because I have to make it through the show in a timely fashion or I won't see the RP deadlines for the next show in time to get something up, but I actually was forced to stop scanning and start paying attention because of how entertaining the matches were.

Luci turns on Legion, whaaaaa? Good job to that messed-up crew on orchestrating another chapter in the Legion/Stalker saga. Them boys ain't right.

Austin/Dane was great...the in-match dialogue from Dane was hilarious. I didn't mind at all that the ref was hoodwinked by Dane. NFW refs are notoriously stupid and inept at their work. To retroactively prove my point I would like someone to write in notoriously stupid and inept referee on the upcoming Brawl show. Also, digging that spike into Austin's mouth was brutal, difficult to read in a good way.

The six-man tag was also really good. The opening bit with the disqualification was a cool swerve, but in this era of loopholes and technicalities winning the day, I couldn't help but wonder whether one can be disqualified for conduct that occurs before the opening bell in a match. Haven't wrestling matches relied on this time-honored rule forever? Attack someone before the bell and set up an advantage for when you get them in the ring? If so, Bobby Jack is out of luck with a broken nose. But then again, Troutman's calling the shots and he's firmly in JJ's pocket, so he may just DQ Impulse anyway. But then again, I don't give a sh*t because it was all good. And Bobby Jack begging for Troutman to submit him so Impulse would release his nose was hilarious.

I didn't understand what happened with the Dane/Harmen/Rook backstage thing, but I didn't need to. The Rook/Harmen match was great, another brutal encounter with the involvement of those spurs. Rook has really been the leader in the National Title scene for a long-ass time (like five years in real-life big-boy time), and I imagine he has a ton invested in the blockbuster announcement about the Triple Crown Championship. Which is really the National Championship on steroids? I don't have a problem with the change-up, but I wouldn't lump the National Championship in with the PURE Championship or dusted-off Elite Championship (defunct from PTC days, that Elite Championship?) in terms of relevance. The belt has a significant history and place in the fed, I see it's problem more that it kind of separated off from anything having to do with the rest of the fed and became an isolated object that wasn't necessarily seen as desirable in the way that the TV Title was (integrated into more storylines and seen as the World Championship's little brother). Hell, when the belts were resurrected after Season Two, I think in theory the National Championship was supposed to be above the TV Title, but by way of Devin stomping mudholes with JTP and holding the thing for a million years, it just came to occupy a more prominent spot. That and I think there's a sentimentality to the TV Title that is derived from the same kind of underdog energy that fueled WCW's TV Title being the most competitive and athletic belt chase there for a long time.

Main Event I did not read match-wise, but I ate around the edges. Congrats to Billy on retaining. I can see both sides as to the draw finish. On the one hand, it seemed like the kind of purely competitive match where a clean finish would be appropriate. On the other hand, this is NFW, curveballs are the norm around here, and it does provide the basis for an amazing Strife/Ryan III at some point in the future, belt or not, and maybe Billy and Brunk can get something in writing from Katz next time promising them a clean finish one way or the other. Neither character suffers from the result. Would Eddie coming out and declaring the match would go to a clean finish be all old-school, badass, and totally in the right vibe for the way that match went? Indeed it would have been. But we'll have to save that ending for another time, 'cuz we had this whole other incident that I think people may have heard about? Dane was there? Paperwork involved? I really enjoyed the whole thing. Some may question Dane's appearance at the end of show leaching heat off the Main Eventers, but that's been Dane's M.O. since he got here. Funny enough given Castor's theme song, Dane really IS a starf*cker. He sees the power players in the fed, and he's done nothing but try to rub elbows or trade fists with them since he got here, 'cuz he knows if he can somehow worm his way into the main event scene he has enough talent to potentially stay there. And at SUPERCRASH IV he found a way to make that happen. I totally buy Billy's logic behind Lana slipping in the papers for Strife to sign, and picked up on the dynamic as I read through, which is a testament to his writing because I haven't read all the Strife RPs and I don't know much about the other Guild characters.

Randalls' appearance at the end was only strange because it was written like "Who is it? OMG RANDALLS" when Randalls has been hanging around every week. It'd be like "MYSTERIOUS FIGURE HIDING IN THE DARKNESS...JACK BRYANT!" Well of course it's Jack Bryant, he works here. But it is what it is. Randalls has closed more shows than Springsteen, and that's not gonna change anytime soon.

All in all, GREAT show. The matches were well-done and really entertaining, and storyline developments were firing on all cylinders. I think the energy level is really high right given how invested everyone obviously is in what's happening with the characters, and I think it's really great that that energy extends up and down the card.

Interesting to see people's thoughts on the Luci turn so far! On a personal level I also enjoyed how Billy described Legion arriving with the Guild complete with gasmask similar to Castor. A case of respect going the next level.
