I too welcome feedback. Nature abhors a vacuum and all that.

Thirded. Crossing my fingers that I did a better job this round than last round.

I'll post my personal thoughts after the deadline, in case any last-minute RPs go up.

After the deadline has passed, I now have to wonder how things will be judged....

I noticed that after I finished the RP thread for our match with the 2nd RP for my character....my opponent posted in the hype sub forum and it wasn't hyping....but RESPONDING to the last RP of mine. I wonder if that will actually count in any way or not?

And if so.....why do we have limits?

You'll be fine there, bud. The hype thread is for character building and I know enough of the judges to know they are fair and impartial with their judgments. I would venture a guess the judges haven't looked at the hype threads when it's their time to judge.

I posted in the hype section after Bracket 4 results came out - but I think... Or at least the way I interpreted the hype board is that it would not count towards your RPing, but serve to advance your story.

So basically, it is a way push your story along without overwhelming a reader with a 4,000 word RP IMO. However, if there is a piece to the judged-RP that does not make sense, chronologically, you hope the judge goes to the Hype Board to, at least skim enough to fill the blanks.

But I highly doubt a Hype RP posted after the deadline responding would count at all.

Well technically it was posted 6 hours before the deadline for Bracket 2

And my question was that it had specific responses to things said in my final RP....which maxed both of us out in the RP thread.

Had it not mentioned me, what was discussed in my roleplay, or even if it had (in general) not said the words my opponent or etc.....I would not have questioned. But this wasn't a character-driving RP....it was a response RP. There was no story from my vantage point anyway conveyed past what was brought out in our RP thread against each other.

Hence why I asked because I hate the idea of any match being decided because one guy stepped over and added a hype board response because the limit had been reached. So I just wanted that cleared up. :)

Like I said, you are good. There are maximum RPs for a reason. The judges are more intelligent, fair, and impartial than you are giving them credit for.

Wasn't there this line about Hype RPs helping as some manner of tie breakers?

Spooky, I think what the judges said was that the HypeBoard cannot hurt you - in that, you will gain more exposure and the judges will get to know your character a little better, the story etc.

So theoretically it could help you, but I don't think it is being utilized as any method of tiebreaker.

I'm judging for that bracket.

I definitely will not be using anything from the hype forum to judge the match. It's what's in the thread for the match itself, and that's it. Nothing else counts.

It's sort of a thing people do in FWC occasionally where they can continue to write after deadline, with the understanding that post-deadline work doesn't count for judging, just to keep hyping if they want. I'm pretty sure that's all he was doing.

I don't, however, intend to read the non-thread roleplay until I judge the match though, if I even do it then.

This here.

It's a storytelling device. No judging done there.

The hype board was used as a way to HYPE the character leading into the tournament. They were talking about how it benefits people to use the board before the tournament to help introduce their character. It helps ZERO in the actual judging of an RP showdown except to make the competitive RPs more understandable if utilized by a handler that way.

Brunk...

The idea of continuation knowing it isn't counted is cool. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing an opportunity.

But he intends to do a 25-part story! Totally unfair!

You cut off his quote to change the point he was making. "It helps the judges that they know more about the character they are judging." Nobody is using Hype RPs to decide matches.

You missed an opportunity to bribe me for my vote. I said very clearly in the podcast that I'm taking bribes. I need you to pay attention to the criteria, Hopper.
