FEEDBACK: It felt like a big show. It had a weight to it that isn't common for shows on the forums.

MATCH OF THE NIGHT: I really liked the tag match. Stalker having to go it alone and fight that battle was a good read, the main event was good but there was a lot of lines that just got cut off and it make it a really disjointed read.

BEST SEGMENT: Liked Impulse's pre match thoughts, Stalker's end of the show tirade with Ryan, both were good.

FACE OF THE NIGHT: Anarky for the huge win.

HEEL OF THE NIGHT: Stalker might get this by default, but really being stuck in a 2 on 1 isn't a very heel thing. Maybe I'll just give heel of the night to Stevens for not bringing up First, c'mon man, not even a "Brian" for old time's sake? (Kidding. Liked the whole segment, how could I ever hate a segment with a Garbage song in it?)

BEST MOMENT: Ryan handing Impulse the IC Title.

WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN DONE BETTER: I get the point of the youtube links to the themes, it's a PPV, it's something that makes things bigger, but they just look jarring to me when I see them, I don't click on them. I know when I'm match writing I like to listening to the themes as I'm typing up intros, but on the whole I don't think I'd ever click to listen for reading a match, cause I wanna read the match and see what happened. It would be less intrusive to the page to hyperlink the themes like this.

MISC. THOUGHTS: A big show worthy of Wrestleverse. I hope EPW can keep the momentum running and keep turning out quality shows like this, with FWC getting a bunch of new leagues the place looks like it's picking up business and it would be nice if EPW was a focus of the forums.

I have to say, the cutoff lines in the main was very bizarre and as far as I can tell, unexplained. I may go in and try and clean that up, but if it doesn't bother people I may not bother. Annoying though.

And with that, the errors SHOULD be fixed now.

Seems a corruption in the file when I pasted it over is to blame. I didn't re-check after pasting, so I didn't catch it. All is well now, hopefully.

Carry on. :)

WEEDBACK:

Start to finish, I thought this was a pretty solid show. The opening matches were short and to the point, the title matches that followed stepped it up, and it went home with the main event. In other words, it felt like watching an actual PPV event. There were also a decent number of segments breaking up the action, although I still feel like anything more than two per character is overexposure. I'll get more into that later.

MATCH OF THE NIGHT:

The main event is probably going to get the most recognition for this, but I feel the TV Title contest was a decent contender. Whoever wrote the action between Cruise and Astros did a great job. It was, perhaps, the most dominant Cameron Cruise has been in some time. After being the butt of everyone's jokes for so long, it's good to see a veteran character can still go into the ring and wrestle a truly amazing match, coming out with a win, a belt, and some bragging rights.

BEST SEGMENT:

The Hall of Fame induction was the highlight of non-match segments, in my opinion. Ivy was an appropriate presenter (kudos for the Greensboro reaction, whoever wrote it), and Stevens' speech was great. The Dis segment was also good for being direct, although someone inappropriately timed as it immediately followed the beat-down of the person he/she was addressing. Of all of the Stalker segments, the last one was probably the best; I feel Caitlyn's getting a bit too melodramatic in her mission. The Impulse speech was also good, though maybe I'm just weaned on script format, but it felt more like a Lebron James commercial than an interview.

FACE OF THE NIGHT:

ANIMEIZING DRAGON I felt got this. Anarky and Impulse's wins were huge face moments as well, though Brown and Otaku got extra points by scoring a win over the federation's current top heel.

HEEL OF THE NIGHT:

Since Stalker kinda walked away from this worse for wear, I think Cruise became the Heel of the Night for his TV Title win. Since it was a hard-fought, clean victory, he didn't come off as very heelish, but then this wasn't a card that many heel antics.

BEST MOMENT:

The reveal as Tact as the special guest referee was pretty surprising for me, and I liked how the commentators quickly explaining its significance by recalling his history with both competitors. Stevens accepting his Hall of Fame induction was also a highlight.

WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN DONE BETTER:

Not to knock Justin for his contributions, but four segments is perhaps too many for one character on a single card. In this instance, I felt like Stalker was getting overexposed over the course of the entire show, to the point where it started eclipsing the presence of other characters. This is especially apparent when those segments give more references to Rocko Daymon than Stalker's opponents later on in the night. Caitlyn's revenge role is good, but Stalker's never going to truly get over until he can move on from bragging about one opponent he's beaten over a year ago.

I also don't know how I feel about Steven Shane being cut out of the tag title match. Granted, while his absence brought a good dynamic and story to the match, Shane provides an interesting dynamic to the team itself. Not having him out there I feel didn't do the character any credit, given how he's defined himself over the shows building up to this point by demonstrating an uncanny wrestling skill against his opponents in the ring. It felt like he should have made an appearance at least at some point, but that never came, making the tag match feel someone anti-climactic, and really damaging to the reputation of characters like Otaku and Brown by making it seem like it requires their combined efforts to beat a single opponent.

I only criticize the way this angle plays out due to the fact that it's one of the only major angles happening right now, as far as I can see. There could be a problem with that as well. It could just be that Stalker's not over-exposed, but other talents are being under-exposed right now. There wasn't very much mention or build toward the main event as it came along. As a standalone match, it was perfect in storytelling, but I felt there could have been one segment earlier in the show with Copycat, Anarky, or even Aaron Jones just to remind everybody of what's at stake. But WV4 didn't really feed that story until the main event came. It was a great series of matches... but lacked an epic quality you'd expect from a major PPV event.

So I guess overall... less from Justin, more from everybody else. Sorry to be an overly critical asshole, once again.

MISC. THOUGHTS:

Good, consistent writing throughout all of the matches. I almost had the impression one person did the entire thing.

FEEDBACK:

For my first EPW PPV that I was actually part of, I agree with the consensus that it was a solid show from top to bottom, and it did feel like it was just one writer (with a few obvious exceptions).

MATCH OF THE NIGHT:

TV Title match. Siegel takes so much abuse during the general running of a fed that I always love it when Cruise succeeds somewhere.

BEST SEGMENT:

I'm still loathe to list anything I had a part in as a best of anything, but the Hall of Fame induction was probably the best segment. Trip is one of my favorites and when Short asked if I could write it I was more than honored. And of course, any time Jay writes something I'm a fan.

Quick note to Straw as well on the Impulse segment - I never intended for it to be 'played on the big screen' - just sort of happening. A while ago I toyed with the idea of writing all of Impulse's matches in the Impulse style but realized that matches should be happening in the same style throughout to keep flow, but all of his segments are done like his RPs.

FACE OF THE NIGHT:

Anarky.

HEEL OF THE NIGHT:

Dis, for the disrespect shown to the champion.

BEST MOMENT:

Anarky's win. I'm a sucker for a face champion retaining, especially against someone as fearsome as Copycat.

WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN DONE BETTER:

Again, like Straw said - we didn't see the Champion or Challenger until the main event. While that's good in a way, it whets the appetite, for a text based hobby we should see buildup on the show itself.

Also, not a big fan of the fully embedded Youtube videos - I think links would have been less obstructive and allowed the show to flow better.

FEEDBACK:

MATCH OF THE NIGHT: The TV title match flowed really well and was an excellent read. I'd have to go with that one.

BEST SEGMENT: There were three segments that stood out and got some enjoyment from them all. First obviously is Trip's Hall of Fame induction. Second would go to Dis' segment and third would be Impulse's pre match seg.

FACE OF THE NIGHT: It'd have to be Anarky for securing the win over Copycat.

HEEL OF THE NIGHT: In my eyes Dis.

BEST MOMENT: Well Impulse has been on a fast track to stardom and with him winning the IC title, that was probably one of the better moments of the card. Can't go with out at least giving some props to Cruise as well. Three new champions crowned on the card. That's pretty epic.

WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN DONE BETTER: I am guessing my segments.

MISC. THOUGHTS: Overall I thought it was a great card. It crowned great new champions that will hopefully elevate the belts in their own ways. I didn't mind the imbedded vids at all I thought they were a nice touch. Just a really good card.

As for Ryan's comments well.. all I can say is I'm doing the best I can to put out some good material.

Some notes in response:

-- The Impulse bit was changed to the "shown on the screen" style because I thought I should make it clear that the audience was seeing it just like everything else. It was written in narrative, and had more of a vignette feel to it than an interview in my opinion. If it didn't work - that was my call. I'll take the hit.

-- Stalker is all over the shows because he's very active in angle planning right now. When one person is sending in quite a bit of stuff, it's gonna be a little overwhelming. Perhaps I should tone it down a bit with how many segments he has, but if I do, it won't be because it's not quality, because it is in my opinion. Sometimes though we can be just as effective with less.

-- Credit on the Hall of Fame goes to... Me for the opening, passed off to Pete for all of Ivy's part, and Jay returning to write the Stevens part.

-- I've done the embedded videos before and it went over very well. Seems to have gone over less so this time. I can cut back on those for Wrestleverse in the future, if that's the league consensus. I think I've only done them for Wrestleverse in the past anyway.

The wrong side of the bong slide.
MISC. THOUGHTS: The show open was very good. It set up an epic feel for the rest of the program. I liked the embedded videos when they worked.

The Sean Stevens induction seg was excellent, definitely drove home the emotional impact of the moment for XXX. Yay for Jay!

I liked the tension between Ryan and Impulse, giving a nod to the drama over in Frontier-land. Also a big win for Impulse and for Pete, who if I'm not mistaken has written approx. 300 RPs in the last two months. TAKE A SHOWER!

The 'Dis' character's mystery identity intrigued, and the bit of talk before the match was really funny - promising not to brag ever again if the World Heavyweight Champion would just relinquish the belt. I dub that part my LINE OF THE NIGHT.

The stuff with Caitlyn Daemon was good. Not every day the ex-wife of a former star declares her intent to wreak bloody revenge on the person(s) who caused the downfall of her man. I like everything Strawsma does. It seems like the Erik Black character has taken a turn for the dark since his days with CHRONIC COLLIZION~!

Stalker just sort of infects any fed he's a part of...in a good way. He's the kind of character who could be Humility Bombed into the ground, and seconds later his hands would burst through the soil, dry-washing each other evilly as he concocted his next scheme.

Good job, EPW.

MATCH OF THE NIGHT: I'd have to echo the sentiments earlier and say Cruise/Astros. The pacing and narration of the match were excellent. I found it impressively well-written. I also thoroughly enjoyed the main, though I'm not entirely unbiased, I'll admit. Still had a very epic feel, deserving of a main event PPV title match.

BEST SEGMENT: I enjoyed Dis' "lawyering up" thoroughly. The combination of the faceless talent and the demanding of a handing over of the title was good stuff. Then again, there was also really good stuff with the HOF segment, Stalker's, and Impulse. Good stuff all around, really. I didn't find there were any unnecessary segments or that any of them weren't executed well, so I thought on the whole it was quality all around.

FACE OF THE NIGHT: Aside from my own biased view... I suppose I'd have to say Impulse. Huge win to score the IC title in quick fasion. Good luck to whomever is next in line for a shot at that one.

HEEL OF THE NIGHT: Weird night for heels. Stalker wasn't his usual heelish self due to fighting the tag match alone, as others have stated. So I'd have to give it to Dis for just straight up trash-talking the entire world title picture. But as others have noted, it wasn't a very heel-ish PPV.

BEST MOMENT: Both Cruise and Impulse's wins were pretty huge. This was really hard to pick, really. Just a lot of good moments throughout the card.

WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN DONE BETTER: Better? I'm not sure. I'm always amazed by the amount of time and effort people can put into matchwriting to produce something like the quality of WrestleVerse IV.

I do hear some complaints about the lack of buildup for the world title match, and really, that responsibility comes down to myself, and contributing more to segments on the card. I definitely think that's something to be improved upon. So I don't necessarily agree that Stalker is doing too much, so much, as I am doing too little.

The YouTube clips don't bother me at all, I think they're pretty cool, but I could see why people don't want it using up their valuable screen real estate. But it certainly doesn't bother me.

MISC. THOUGHTS: Overall a really great card and just fun to be a part of of WrestleVerse history. I thought everybody ultimtaely did a really great job and should be pretty thrilled with how the card came out overall. Also think that there are some really good things building up in EPW which should pay off in the long run.

Finally got around to finish reading the card last night! And so, a few thoughts...

MATCH OF THE NIGHT: I thought the Main Event was deserving of this, but I also have to give credit to the TV Title match, as others have. I thought the match itself was the right length, and had great pacing to it. I liked seeing Cruise booked strong, and not just "stealing" one. Congrats to Siegel on the win.

BEST SEGMENT: I thought Dis coming up with ways to neutralize the two Main Event participants reasons for being around was pretty entertaining. And the later promo was a good way to set up intrigue for Aggression 60.

FACE OF THE NIGHT: Otaku/Brown would get this if they weren't on the weighted side of the tag title match, but I think I'll give it instead to Anarky. Retaining at the biggest show of the year is pretty awesome, so congrats to Josh for getting it done.

HEEL OF THE NIGHT: I liked how Stalker went about business, but I agree it's difficult to play heel on the wrong end of a handicap match. So I'll give it to Dis for the promos.

BEST MOMENT: I didn't know about the Ryan/Impulse history, but I liked how the commentators played up the story there, post-match, and made it feel like a big moment. Also the Greensboro crowd realizing Ivy was there seemed pretty momentous.

WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN DONE BETTER: I didn't really spot anything egregious, but I'm just getting back in the loop.

MISC. THOUGHTS: I was happy with Tact being the special guest referee, and I hope it was somewhat shocking to the readers. I'm also looking forward to seeing how the Dis/Stalker title picture shapes out, and where Copycat falls into the mix. Who knows what else may happen...

Much praise to the RPers and cardwriters.

MATCH OF THE NIGHT: It goes against my nature to choose a match in which I was a participant, but I would be remiss if I did not praise whoever wrote the main event. Odd, since-corrected line break issues aside, it had a really intense, edge-of-your-seat quality to it, which is what you would expect out of a pay-per-view main event. Every near-fall toward the end was a nail-biter, and I thought both guys came out of it looking great -- which I appreciate, as my character was the one of those guys who lost.

BEST SEGMENT: I had to appreciate the Sean Stevens HOF induction. We didn't often see the guy's gracious side when he was actively competing, but it still seemed to fit his character.

FACE OF THE NIGHT: Even though his opponent was also technically a face -- albeit less so -- I felt like Impulse would have really grabbed the crowd's adulation and held on tight. Karl Brown and Otaku were hugely over as well, but they get deductions for being on the advantageous side of a handicap match, and Anarky was also getting major pops, but his triumph is tempered by confrontations on the horizon with Dis and Stalker; Impulse was the only one whose victory had nothing to dilute it.

HEEL OF THE NIGHT: Has to be Dis. Stalker was a little too put upon to function as a pure heel, Cameron Cruise's victory was largely clean and I can't let my pro-Copycat bias color my judgment. Dis is quickly setting himself up as the enemy of everyone, which makes him an easy heel.

BEST MOMENT: The championship celebrations of Impulse and Karl Brown/Otaku. Impulse, for reasons I've explained above, was the top face, but once Stalker was gone from ringside and his disadvantage forgotten, the Karl Brown/Otaku team also had a great moment of triumph.

WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN DONE BETTER?: Yes, more build for the World Heavyweight Title match would have been better, but Josh, you can't just blame yourself for that one -- I should have submitted something for Cat. And I was planning to, but none of the ideas I came up with sounded good, and after all the work I'd already put into RPing, eventually it got to the point where I just forgot about it. Too late to do anything about it now.

MISCELLANEOUS THOUGHTS: Anyone who says the embedded videos are a negative is crazy. Maybe if they slow down your load times or something, I can see how they might be a pain, but I like having them there; to my mind, the entrance music is a big contributor to the anticipation for a match, and not having to open up a separate tab and navigate away from the page is better for me.

Oh yeah, forgot to say... I liked the embedded videos, too. I didn't feel as if they detracted from format of the match, only added a cool touch to each one. I don't think I would particularly mind if the hyperlinks were there, because you'd still be hearing the music even if it tabbed up separately. But I thought it was pretty sweet seeing them right in there with the match. Just my humble two cents.. :p
