Josh Roberts has been around the wrestling world most of his adult life. He started out doing Wrestler Interviews for fledgling SAPW, South-Atlantic Pro Wrestling, where he met "Tex" Johnson and they struck up a fast friendship.

When Mr. Penndragon opened the World Wide Wrestling Alliance (3WA) Johnson mentioned his friend Roberts and help get him the job of on air commentator. JR has been with the company ever since, into it's current incarnation of World Class Championship Wrestling (WccW)
