3/24/o9 - Inducted into the Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame: This past sunday Johnny Styles accomplished abother career goal when he became the first member into the Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame. It was a goal that Styles felt would never happen. After a few low points in HIW and his brash 'Fuck You' experts attitude, Styles felt he was doom to be the modern day Pete Rose. But that all change when a vote was passed to vote Johnny 'SBK' Styles into the Pro Wrestling Hall of fame. He was inducted by long time friend and tag partner Joe Santiago. Sure these two have a stormy history togther but on it was all put behind them as Santiago inducted Styles into the hall.
When asked if his career is coming to a end with the vote into the hall Styles smiled and simply replied that he still has years to go before he even thinks about hanging his boots up. And that he has been on a skid in HIW but is on a upward swing in NLWF and really doesn't see retirment any time soon. Which seems to be true, because at No Limit Wrestling Federation's biggest Pay Per View of the year War Games Styles will take part in a match that has everything riding on it. (And I'm not talking about championships) This Sunday Styles faces Brenton Cyrus in a 'Live of Die' match. With Alex Styles, Johnny's adopted son being whats for stake. There is a lot of buzz coming from this match, as the stipulations have Styles laying down to Cyrus if Styles wants to see Alex alive. This match will be a hell of a show, even if the Icon is forced to lay down.
On the flip side of all that Styles is still under contract with eXpert affliated High Impact Wrestling. And although Styles hasn't made a big public deal about not working in a eXpert hosted event again. He has sent CEO of High Impact a letter letting him know that he will not throw his name into another eXpert event. It isn't clear why Styles doesn't want to compete for the eXperts, but its no secret that Styles has never truley embrassed Gunn and the eXperts after the fall out of BLWA. When asked if he felt this would affect his relationship with HIW, Styles commented that it shouldn't but there seems to be a elephant in the room when he and Scorpio are on the same stage. But he stated he doesn't plan on leaving HIW but has seperated from DOA the stable he was apart of with Scorpio, and does plan to perform for the next few months with HIW.
2/4/09 - A heartbreaking Lose at Enigma: At HIW’s recent PPV, Enigma, Style’s Elite reign was ended when Matt Marvel made himself the only man to pin SBK in the recreation of HIW, making Matt the new elite champion.
You can assume SBK was not happy. The days following Enigma, we got a chance to talk with Styles about what is in the future after losing the championship.
What was your first thought after losing to Matt Marvel?
Seriously? I was very upset. Mainly upset with myself. I worked hard to keep that championship and, I mean, I knew I was going to lose it sooner or later but not this soon.
We all know your thoughts on HIW’s talent. Do you think Matt will do well as champion?
Well, he wanted to create his own breed of champion. He wanted to forge his own legacy. What he does will never surpass what I did for that title but if he wants to make himself, now is the time to do so.
We’re all wondering what your next move is here in HIW.
Hmm… good question. See, DoA still has a mission: eliminate everything in our path to power. Matt caught me when I was sleeping but don’t make that think I’m done. I’m not. Azula and Matt can have their time in the spotlight and everyone will realize what HIW is without SBK at the helm. Not sure who the number one contender is but really doesn't matter, because If Matt wins and defends the championship, he can continue to ‘make himself’ while if Johnny Come Lately wins then Matt would be display as a fluke champion. Almost as if he couldn't stay champion without Bobby's aid.
To make a long rant short, they need to be on watch. You’ll never know when I’m going to strike.
Well put. Do you have any plans for this week’s Vital Signs?
There is one thing I want to do. As a man, I want to shake Matt Marvel’s hand. There aren’t too many people who can beat me even if I feel it was a tainted victory and I want to commend him on such an amazing accomplishment. But in the same breath, I look forward into grabbing my revenge against the both of them in this weeks main event
We all want to see SBK shake Matt Marvel’s hand. Will Matt accept? Tune into Vital Signs to find out!
12/30/08 - Still Elite Champion: Two weeks after defeating Matt Marvel in one of the most brutal matches in the history of High Impact Wrestling. Vital Signs General Manager Deka booked the Elite Champion in a 5 man battle royal with the Elite Championship up for grabs. Johnny started off red hot as he made quick work of McKenzie Addison dropping the poor fuck with a End Result making Addison the first one eliminated.
But not to be out done, Matt Marvel answered Styles’ end result with a TKO on Kirby Pollard, following it up with a cover eliminating Kirby from the championship match. When it came down to Kalie Wimberly, the Elite champion and Matt Marvel put on a talent show, as they both made quick work of Kalie. Matt dropping her with the Marvell Madness, and Styles answering that with the Round Lottery. Styles picked up the cover bringing the match down to Matt Marvel and Johnny Styles
The two went back and forth with the near falls, nighter man showing any lasting effects from the brutal match at No Exit. But it was a quick reversal out of the Marvel Madness that gave Johnny Styles the opening he needed as Styles quickly turn the page dropping Matt with the End Result picking up the championship defense. The night went off to a close up at the former DOA team mates Johnny Styles and Scorpio standing side by side.
In other news, Johnny Styles signed another Wrestling contract with Anarchy Wrestling Federation. This coming after Wrestling Unplugged merged with AWF.
