The Legacy...

The trees are still green yet its coming into fall. The wind is chilled and the sky darkened with the coming of rain. Cody Carson sat in a near by park a cell phone in front of him. The birds of the park had fell silent and a homeless man curled up on a bench a few yards away. Cody looked up and around the park fighting with himself against something. He slowly dialled the numbers into the phone and raised it to his ear. Two rings and a woman answered. “Carmen?” Cody question, but soon found out that twas not Carmen on the other end, but her sister Jalie.

"Guess again, dickweed." Jalie growled. "You better forget this fucking number you son of a bitch. And if you so much as think about showing up here, I will invent a way to bring you back to life JUST so I can kill you REPEATEDLY! You swore to me you wouldn't hurt her and you lied. I hate liars, Carson, especially when it involves my sister. If you were harbouring feelings for Brandi you shouldn't have made a fucking commitment to someone else; let alone the sister of a woman who can make your body twist in ways unknown to fucking mankind. I let you into my family, into my home, and this is how you repay me?! You ungrateful little bastard... My entire family opened up to you. And you know how rare that is. Yet you threw it away on a fucking whim from high school. But don't get me wrong, I don't blame Brandi. All she did was write a thank you in a fucking national book and you think she's expressing her undying love. You need to think about what you've fucking done. What you've thrown away. Because I’m really wondering... Was it worth it?”

"Jalie... I..." Cody stopped thinking and choosing his words wisely. “I don't mean to hurt anyone... but she walked out on me. I thought my feeling for Brandi where dead. Brandi sent me her book and Carmen opened it." Cody screamed into the phone now. "Its not my fucking fault she walked out. She didn't come back either, I waited for her. I sat there, and waited for her. But no one came. I couldn't find her any where. I figured she was better off with out me if she lost it like that. So I said fuck it... I had no where else to go. I couldn't face you, I couldn't face her, so I went some where... I didn't want to... but I did."

"And it never occurred to you to WAIT A FEW DAYS?! Couples fight, Cody! That doesn't give you the right to go running off to another woman! For fuck sakes, wasn't your relationship with Carmen worth sitting quietly for a while? Of course she was upset! She has my temper! But if you knew her like I thought you did you'd know she would have come back. Or, hell, you could have asked me. I took you in, Cody. I wouldn't have killed you because my sister took a book the wrong way. But you still had feelings for Brandi so you made it into a bigger situation than it was. You were becoming my brother, and not just legally. Why didn't you just talk to me? Damnit Carson... Everything you worked for has been fucking trashed, and all because you were too much of a pussy to face it head-on. You have a fight and you talk it out. You don't confess your love to someone else immediately afterward.”

Cody sighed and dropped his head into his hand. “Jalie, I didn‘t mean for it to happen. I fucked up I know… I wouldn‘t have phoned if I didn‘t.” Cody sighed again. “I didn‘t think she was coming back. FUCK! Why the fuck am I me?” Cody punched the bench and his knuckles broke before the wood. “I‘m so fucking stupid.” Me punched it again.

"Yes, you are. Otherwise you would have waited a little longer for her to come back. You know, like... A week or so at least. Dumbass. The worst part is, Carmen still loves you. But she has no way of knowing whether or not you really love her or someone else you knew back in third grade. But, it's obvious you don't need me to make you feel like more of an idiot. You're doing a fine job yourself. Listen, Carson... You can still save this thing. Granted, you're gonna go through some hellacious humiliation... But Carmen still wants you. You just need to prove yourself. It'll take a while, but I think you can get your relationship back on track. As for my trust... Well, that'll take a lot longer. But if you love Carmen, I think you'll be willing to do what it takes. Until then, get your fucking head on straight. Think about where your loyalties lie. Because if it isn't here, a hundred percent, then you better never show your fucking face in San Diego again.” Jaile threatened into the phone. Then nothing but silence was hear as jalie hung up the phone. Quickly his mind flashed to another memory…

Cody stood up and started off towards the pound with a bucket. He filled it with water and dumped it on the fire. He then walked off toward the tent, taking his shirt off halfway there. Carmen ran and caught up to him and they to slipped into the tent. Inside Cody Carson was laying with his hands behind his head. “Carmen, do you think I could…” She looked at him curiously.

“...Could what...?” She asked with a sparkle in her eye. Cody rolls over and with out warning kisses her.

“Could that.” She looked at him blankly, a bit surprised. She touched her hand to her lips and smiled.

“I guess I could let you get away with that.” She smirked, leaned over and placed a kiss on his lips. She leaned back with a grin and dropped down on the sleeping bag, She stared at the top of the tent and giggled. “I am acting like such a slut. I've been totally into you since I moved next door to your place... I just don't want you to get the wrong impression.” Cody jumped up and looked at her.

“That’s where I have seen you before.” Cody winced at the thought of what happened after he looked at her that day. “You didn’t see me, get you know… “ Carmen laughed.

“Yep, I saw. You took it like a man though. Not a lot of guys can take a slap shot to the nuts and walk away from it.” Cody looked a little embarrassed then laughed with her.

“They where bigger then they ever have been before.”

Carmen giggled. “Well, maybe you should watch what you're doing next time, eh? ... See, I’m picking up on Canadian culture already.” Cody smiled. She suddenly shimmied closer to him. “Uhm.. Anyway it's a little cold out so... You think I could crash in here with you tonight? If not, it's fine..”

“No, you can’t.” Cody replied with a smirk.

She stared to get up and he pulled her back down. She looked at him and he smiled. Again his memory started to fade to yet another… This memory was different. This memory was of one sole thing. He was staring into the eyes of Carmen Dumas Carson. HE was staring back at him with her loving eyes. He that he would never see her again yet here they where lost in darkness and lost in each others love. This was where he wanted to stay This was where he was. THIS was what it was all about. Suddenly, he opened his eyes.
