Statement made. The lights had been swept out over the arena and Melina Perez had been cut off. The Woman’s Champion was not in control…and she liked it. Sara had darted through the crowd; no one had seen her. She had slid in the ring…where she belonged…and became the center of attention. She took the champion and dismantled her, first with a DDT and then with a major moonsault. It was only Sara who was standing at that point and the whole arena was waiting for her identity to be revealed. A single hand swept up to her hood and down it came, her hair flowing down and the camera zooming into her face. Her smile had glowed on televisions nationwide. The announcer’s voice had rang out! SARA CALAWAY! SARA CALAWAY! It wasn’t fiction, for just like she said, the baddest bitch was back to take over the yard.
The music was slowly starting to fade that point, but that didn’t mean her smile was fading. Ever since the hood had come off and the cheers had started up her smile wouldn’t go away. It was planted on her face…almost permanently. As she stepped backstage she could feel the eyes look at her, she like they had when she first entered; old friends that didn’t have the courage to come up to her and say hello.
After all, she hadn’t formally addressed the WiW audience yet, who knew what her intentions were. Was she mad at the world, had she gone crazy?
Crazy? Her? No.
She pushed her hair back behind her ear and let out a light sigh as she stopped in her tracks.
Sara Calaway: You did it..you’re back!
It was hard to believe. She had gone through so much; the death of her mother and personal rehab. All while the relationship with her husband had slowly gone down the drain. She had individually; by herself, fought her hardest to get back to doing the passion which she had found a bit later in life. She fought to get back into the ring…and tonight marked her return.
Sara’s presence at Meltdown was no longer needed after her attack of Melina. She knew quite well the interviewers would stalk her soon if she didn’t get out soon enough. She wasn’t quite ready to spill her heart out yet, she had to do it the right way. Just as she moved a bit quicker to leave, she saw Todd Grisham round the corner and immediately she turned the other way. She heard him gasp a bit and she knew she was caught.
Todd Grisham [True Geek]: SARA! SARA! Wait wait wait!
Sara stopped in her tracks and turned around, forcing an excited look on her face to see Todd.
Todd Grisham[True Geek]: It’s been forever Sara!!
Sara wished it had lasted longer, but nodded in agreement.
Sara Calaway: Not long enough Todd. What can I do for you? Todd Grisham[True Geek]: Wow where do I start?
Sara heavily sighed and crossed her arms.
Todd Grisham[True Geek]: Okay…so…the last time anyone saw you, Lana Starr Mcmahon ran you over with a car! How is your health!? Sara Calaway: Actually I’m in tip top shape. Lots of work to get back, but I’m back. Of course there are still issues and what not but I’m going to address all of that next week…it’s a promise. Todd Grisham[True Geek]: Next week? You mean you’re back on the roster already?
Sara stared blankly at Todd and then nodded.
Sara Calaway: Yea Todd…I wasn’t paying a visit…I’m back for good. Look…why don’t you just go interview someone else for now? All right?
Sara patted him on the shoulder and turned around before heading her way down the hallway.
Sara Calaway: Moments of my life I can never get back…
Sara rolls her eyes as she continues further down the hallway and out into the parking lot, to her rental car that was waiting for her in the garage. She scooped out the keys that she had in her pocket and reached the car. She slid the key into the hole only to feel heavy breathing on her neck.
Sara stopped for a moment and looked down, the car showing the reflection of Dave Batista standing behind her; a bit too close for comfort.
Sara Calaway: What? Are you mad that I got the better end of your girl tonight?
He laughs and backed off a bit.
Sara Calaway: Did she “sick” you on me…so I won’t be another problem for her to deal with?
There was silence.
Sara Calaway: Is that it? Is the fan favorite gonna take Sara Calaway out because his sex toy said so?
Sara turned around rapidly, realizing his closeness.
She slapped him hard and he tightened his jaw.
Sara Calaway: That’s the last damn thing that’s gonna happen. Batista[The Animal]: I know. Actually…I was just coming over to…welcome you back to Meltdown.
Sara tightened her eyebrows, giving him a menacing look.
Sara Calaway: What a shame that I don’t believe you…
He smiled playfully and his face grew serious instantly.
Batista[The Animal]: You don’t have to. ??? VOICE: DAVE BATISTA!
Sara’s eyes and Dave’s eyes darted across the parking lot to see a figure dressed in a plaid vest and jeans coming toward the entrance of the garage. It looked to be a fan but when he got closer, Sara recognized it as none other than her very own husband, who she had been separated from for a good three months at that point. Surprised as ever to see him standing there, Sara could do nothing but stand still.
The Undertaker[Turned Jackass]: What the hell are you thinking boy?
Batista raised an eyebrow and took a step back away from Sara, who looked annoyed as ever; this was not how this night was supposed to turn out.
Batista[The Animal]: Taker? Didn’t you get fired? Why the hell are you here man? The Undertaker[Turned Jackass]: Question is…why are you (points finger in Dave’s face) so close to my woman?
He spits his chewing tobacco out on the ground near Batista’s foot.
Batista[The Animal]: Just welcoming her back to Meltdown, she made quite an impact tonight. The Undertaker[Turned Jackass]: She did, did she?
Sara nodded agitated.
Batista[The Animal]: Maybe you should get on talking about that. Sara..
She looked up to meet his eyes.
Batista[The Animal]: I guess I’ll see you around..
He winked and Sara rolled her eyes, Taker standing in a somewhat dominating fashion before turning his eyes on her.
The Undertaker[Turned Jackass]: You did good huh? Sara Calaway: Of course. The Undertaker[Turned Jackass]: Good…keep my name alive.
He slowly approached her and put a finger underneath her chin.
The Undertaker[Turned Jackass]: I’ve missed you Sara. It’s been quite a few months now..and..I’m sorry. Sara Calaway: Does it look like I give a shit? Don’t touch me Mark.
He frowned heavily and grabbed both arms tightly.
The Undertaker[Turned Jackass]: DON’T talk to me like that…I came here to apologize and I just saved your ass from Dave Batista…be appreciative.
She managed to get free and nailed him hard in the nose with her fist.
Sara Calaway: We are over Mark….we’re over.
He was silent for a few moments more and he looked puzzled at her, holding his face.
Sara Calaway: OVER!
She opened her car door, slammed it shut, and screeched out of the parking lot.
S C E N E T W O - The Door Closed
He had to have called her cell phone millions of times that night, but she didn’t pick it up…ever. At one point she had gotten so heated up that she threw the cell phone against the wall and the people next door had given her hell. She didn’t care; she didn’t want to hear from him again. It wasn’t just tonight that had called for their ultimate separation. When Sara was in the hospital in recovery, she had more issues to deal with than just her own. Mark was always going through some losing streak and her being in the hospital only made him more stressed. It didn’t turn out too well and soon he had begun to change into a complete jerk. She hated it, he acted strangely and she wasn’t there for her…period; especially when her mom died. It was all about his losing streaks, it was all about how his life was so bad, when she was the one barely surviving in a hospital bed and her mom was gone.
There was a point in her rehab when he came in one day with some food; claiming he had forgotten to bring her anything. He was talking on the phone to someone Sara didn’t know and it was then when she had had enough. She asked him to leave…and last night was the first time she had seen him since. He hadn’t changed, it hadn’t been the right way to handle it, and it was quite possible even that he had been drunk! It didn’t matter…they were over.
She laid completely still in her hotel room. Over the past months she had strived to get back to the ring, and now that she was back and she had accomplished this huge goal…she truly understood and realized that her relationship with her husband was over. He was the one after all that had gotten her into the business, he was the person who had introduced her to it. Would she be able to get back into the swing of things without his advice?
Sara Calaway: I got me to where I was…I fought my hardest..he didn’t cheat for me.
Sara buried her face in the hotel pillow and let out a scream of frustration. It was nearly two in the morning and the last thing she could do at that point was sleep. She threw the pillow to the ground and in her pajamas, which consisted of a tight upper shirt and sleep pants; she went outside onto the balcony. She slid the door open and sat down on one of the chairs waiting for her.
???: Sara??
Sara turned her head quickly to the right to see none other than an old friend of hers…a woman named Tracy who had agreed to travel with Sara, learn from her , and more importantly be there for support as a friend. Tracy was sitting out on her own balcony, right next to Sara’s, smoking a cigarette and sitting curled up on one of the plastic chairs.
Sara smiled brightly and wished that she could jump over and give her long lost friend a hug. As soon as Sara had been hit by that car, she had lost contact with her good friend and now there they were again.
Sara Calaway: Tracy! Tracy[The Best Friend]: I can’t believe it’s you! I heard that the WIW was in town, but I had no idea you were…back…
There was silent for a few more moments, Sara’s smile had returned.
Tracy[The Best Friend]: How is everything..your mom…Mark? Is he in the room, I have to go in and wake him up like old times.
Sara looked to the ground in an awkward fashion.
Sara Calaway: Actually…my mom died while I was in the hospital…and Mark and I…are getting a divorce soon.
Tracy’s eyes bulged and a hand made it to her mouth in an instant.
Tracy[The Best Friend]: Sara..I can’t believe…I’m so sorry!
Sara nodded and shrugged her shoulders.
Sara Calaway: It’s been a real rough few months. But tonight…I returned on television. Tracy[The Best Friend]: Did you really?
Sara nodded, the mere mention of her return brought back her smile.
Tracy[The Best Friend]: Sara…I’m so sorry for not being there for you while you were in the hospital…especially now that I here this. I was just…so scared.
Scared? SHE had been scared, when Sara’s life had been on the line.
Tracy[The Best Friend]: You were one of my best friends and then Lana to do that…Shane Mcmahon’s wife to do that? At the time I was still so focused on my own career and…I thought if I got involved…then my own career… Sara Calaway: I don’t want to talk about it anymore Trace…it’s over…and I forgive you.
The real truth was that Sara needed everyone she could at that time in her life…to not forgive an old friend would have been absolutely stupid.
Tracy[The Best Friend]: You forgive me?
Sara nodded eagerly.
Sara Calaway: I need as many friends as I can get right now.
The wind picked up, but the summer wind didn’t faze either of them.
Sara Calaway: How are your goals coming? Did you ever wrestle any WiW shows?
Tracy shook her head no.
Tracy[The Best Friend]: Actually I quit altogether, independent shows..everything. I’m back in college for graphic design. Sara Calaway: Wow. That’s great!
But Sara was partially upset at the same. That meant that Tracy had a life away from wrestling now, making it that it was highly unlikely that she was willing to travel with her…
Tracy[The Best Friend]: Yea I’m doing courses through the internet, so I decided to go cross country while doing it. I’m living the life right now.
Sara’s heart rate inclined just slightly, there was a chance, that her best friend would tag along with her.
Sara Calaway: What do you think of traveling again with me?
Tracy frowned slightly, not expecting the offer at all.
Tracy[The Best Friend]: What? Sara you can’t be… Sara Calaway: Why not? You can still do your classes, travel the country, just be with a very good friend of yours.
Tracy smiled.
Tracy[The Best Friend]: Okay…shit…why not?
With that Tracy and Sara were once again traveling partners, just like once upon a time.
