FAQs

CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT:

*This is one very important part of E-Wrestling, you can have all the Role Playing skills in the world but a pathetic character can hold you back. I know a lot of what you will read here might sound obvious but believe me when I say a lot of people I’ve seen in the e-feds have had problems like these, and then there are the parts that might look like small insignificant deals, but again, they all count and can get in the way of your characters.

*Your Wrestler’s Stats and Style

Be realistic when you make design your character, having an 80-year-old man who is 7’8 and 250 pounds with super human power is really pushing it. Think seriously, if you have a guy that weighs over 400 pounds there would be no way he could be a high flyer. When picking a style also try to pick one that matches the characteristics you have chosen, don’t have a powerhouse that weighs all over 175 pounds, remember think realistic.

*Character Name

Believe it or not something as small as the name of your wrestler can have a big effect. When you choose your wrestler’s name say the words “World Heavyweight Champion” before the name, some how I can never imagine that in front of Doink the Clown.

*Character Picture

When choosing a picture to represent your wrestler make sure it matches your description of him, for example don’t have a graphic of a really skinny looking guy if your wrestler is supposed to be a powerful mountain of muscle.

*Character Personality

One of my biggest mistakes was a character named Body Beautiful, he was the pretty boy, powerhouse type and I found him to get really boring and repetitive extremely fast. Try to pick a personality that you can always keep fresh, one that you can keep interesting and most importantly, one you enjoy working with, trust me, if you hate the characters personality you’ll give up on him soon enough.

*Character Gimmick

This is one that throws a lot of people off, the best way to describe a gimmick is if we’d look at someone like Shawn Michaels, back in his prime Shawn’s gimmick would have been a flash and flamboyant one, always coming out to the ring in colorful clothes and dancing around the ring. Steve Blackman’s gimmick would be more like a cold fighting machine that would rather fight than talk. Coming up with a gimmick isn’t hard, just be sure to pick one that is easy and fun to work with and that it fits the character you have made.

*Consistency

Remember when you pick a character and gimmick to stick with it, constantly changing the way your character acts and his gimmick it will not only get confusing to keep up with but a lot of people will have trouble following you and will not want to work with you in the long run. A gimmick change is ok, so long as you don’t do it other and other again every few weeks.

RULES AND REGULATIONS:

The Independent Wrestling Cartel ("IWC") rules, as approved by the ownership as of 5.16.2007. All rules are now standard...however, contracts can be issued for match stipulations featuring variations on the below:

Ways to win:

Tag Team competition:

Weight classes:

Match time limits:
Match duration vary in length depending on the championship, contract, etc. Typical match time limits are:

Style Rules and Form:

1. If anyone wants multiple wrestlers on the roster, you MUST keep up with them as they are booked. If you do not, your extra wrestlers WILL be removed. There will not be any toleration. If any of your multiple wrestlers are subject to removal, you will be given a one week notice to allow you to choose which one to remove.

1A. ROLEPLAY DEADLINES To facilitate shows being on time, there is a ROLEPLAY DEADLINE in place. Also, Forum Crowding will not be acceptable. It is not fair to your opponent to appear at the last couple of hours and post roleplays when he's been posting all week. Only in extreme cases will exceptions be made.

2. All members of IWC must roleplay at least once or twice and week unless problems ensue and an owner is notified of these problems in advance. Length really doesn't matter, the feeling and subject matter of role plays will. Think of different settings your RP's can take place...backstage, photo session, the beach, bar, motel room, on the street, in the parking lot, the options are endless. Only resort to an in the ring RP once a week. If you request time in a televised event for a promo, you must have it in by the deadline set or it will not be included. Roleplays must contain not only realism, but they need to be quality material. It isn’t necessary to use the words like "shit" and "bitch" a lot in your roleplays, because it makes your intelligence look low and it also effects how people portray your age. Also, it is absolutely prohibited that anyone uses another member’s wrestler in a roleplay unless given permission by that member. This means no speaking for that member’s wrestler and no abusing or attacking that member’s wrestler. If you receive permission, both handlers must let us know.

3. There will be NO racial or racist remarks or insults to anyone on IWC Forums. If there is a problem with this, you will first, be given a warning and if problems continue to ensue, you may face the possibility of banishment. Don't complain to IWC staff about incidents that happen outside the walls of IWC. Those are considered private, and we will not inject ourselves.

4. A member's wrestler must be realistic. Your wrestler's height, weight, and ability must be within reason. A 400lbs. wrestler cannot do frankensteiners and a cruiserweight cannot do gorilla presses.

5. The Creative Team have the right to make and break any matches they wish to without reason. The word of the Creative Team is final and future storylines and matches will come together at some stage.

6. Constantly moaning about losing matches in the fed is not a good way to get ahead, especially via the boards. If you are found guilty of match-moaning you shall be warned first time, then you may be fired.

7. There is no problem what so ever if you use other federations in your role plays. But remember, if it takes a turn toward being anti-IWC, or if it is considered overkill in any way, that will NOT be tolerated.

8. All of these rules carry a 1, 2, 3 step. First offense you get a warning out of sight, in private. A second offense will resort in a public warning. Third times the charm, cause if it gets that far, you'll be fired.

9. BUT most importantly...have fun!

The Originality Laws:

1. No wrestler as part of IWC may have the same music as a WWE/TNA Superstar or the theme music from a WWE/TNA Event, past or present. All theme music MUST be original.

2. A maximum of 2 wrestlers may have the same finisher, however it is encouraged that a finisher should be as original as possible.

3. No finisher can be named in the same way as its “real-life” counterpart. E.g. the “Stone Cold Stunner” can not be named “The Stunner”. This MUST be original. Some exceptions will be made.

4. Equally, catchphrases and other words and sentences related to WWE/TNA Superstars will not be rewarded and you will be asked to stop. This is an ORIGINAL WRESTLER ONLY e-fed.

STYLES:

American Strong Style: A relaxed variation of the Japanese pro wrestling discipline that was originated in the New Japan Pro Wrestling company in the 1970s. Using a combination of stiff (hard hitting) and sharp moves and strikes, such as the lariat clothesline, the chest chop, and front kicks, American is far less strict in its discipline than its Japanese counterpart. American Strong Style was founded in the late 1990s.

American traditional pro wrestling: Over two hundred years ago, American Pro Wrestling was established with roots including a bout featuring President Abraham Lincoln in Illinois in the mid 1800s. It is standard for traditional pro wrestlers to grapple, suplex, throw or take down their opponent without striking blows. It is the pure basis of most other styles.

Hardcore Wrestling: An unorthodox and ultra violent form of pro wrestling. Disqualifications and count outs are ignored in favor of an extreme and often graphic approach. Typically, fighters will use weapons (i.e., chairs, tables, ladders, canes, barbed wire, etc.) and fight or partake in matches in unusual environments both in and outside of the ring.

Hybrid Fighting: The ultimate style that combines all pre-existing styles creating a state-of-the-art sophisticated discipline consisting of every form of combat that goes down in the ring. Hybrid Fighting is an intense and evolving combat sport in which competitors wrestle and fight without any boundaries such as disqualification or count out stoppage. The theory can be applied to any weight class.

Japanese Strong Style: A strict Japanese pro wrestling discipline that originated in the 1970s by Antonio Inoki. Using a combination of stiff (hard hitting) and sharp moves and strikes, such as the lariat clothesline, the chest chop, and front kicks, Japanese Strong Style is a theory that has influenced several other styles.

Lucha Libre: Translated as "free fighting" in Spanish, the near 100 year old lucha libre style combines a dynamic and acrobatic aerial style with that of sophisticated and at times multi-person submission maneuvers. It is common for Luchadores (disciples of this style) to wear masks and put them (or their hair) on the line in an ultimate challenge of honor or to seek out revenge. Lucha libre six man tag team rules differ from the traditional version as you must pin/tap out two of the three members of one team or a team's captain in order to gain one fall (always in a best of three fall series).

Royal Road: Known also as King's Road and translated as "oudou" in Japanese, this is Shohei "Giant" Baba's theory about a pure athletic style of pro wrestling with an emphasis on world class competition. This style was formulated in the early 1970s.

Shoot Fighting: A form of wrestling that combines wrestling, kick boxing, Jiu-Jitsu, and judo.

Greco-Roman Olympic: A form of wrestling that emphasizes controlling your opponent. The goal is to take down your opponent, preferably on his back. Once down, you attempt to wear your opponent into submission with many different holds.
