The scene opened up once again in the woods. The group of six; Seth, Jalie, Cody, Carmen, Nick and Jay made their way through the trees until they came to an opening in the trees. They all slowed to a halt and desperately tried to get their breath back. Carmen plopped on the ground and Cody knelt down by her.
“So what are we running from again?” Cody openly asked. It took a moment before anybody could answer.
“There… Is… Some guy… Running around… With a chainsaw…” Seth managed to get out.
“Did you ever think… He was just cutting trees?” Carmen questioned. Seth and Jalie tilted their heads to the side, realizing they never questioned it themselves. Everybody turned to Nick and Jay expectedly.
“If hot young girls… With big tits and no clothing… Classify as trees… Then yeah, he was just cutting trees…” Jay said sarcastically. Cody and Carmen’s eyes grew wide at the realization that this wasn’t some misunderstanding.
“So what are we supposed to do now?” Carmen asked.
“Well…” Nick began as he looked around the group. “Those two are married…” He said as he pointed to Seth and Jalie. “I doubt Jay’s been laid at all…”
“Puto tu, bendejo.” Jay said as he flipped him off.
“So that leaves you two.” Everybody turned their attention to Cody and Carmen. “So I say fuck them and lets get out of here.”
“Hey!” Cody and Carmen both shot out.
“We’re not leaving them behind, Nick.” Jalie told him. “What makes you so sure he wouldn’t kill any of us? The attention then turned back to Nick.
“Because it has the basic anatomy of a stereotypical B class horror movie. We’re out in the middle of nowhere, pre-marital sex and slash or lesbian orgies and some masked lunatic running around with a chainsaw. Anybody else convinced?” Nick stood there with his arms crossed, absolutely convinced. Jay seemed a little leery.
“Sounds pretty convincing to me, man.” He admitted. “I think I’m with you.”
“You little shit…” Cody stood up and stomped toward Jay. Seth got in the way and held him back.
“That’s not going to help matters.” Seth told him.
“Sure it will. We’re the only ones who are supposed to die, remember?” Cody argued while trying to get past Seth.
“Nobody is going to die, god damn it!” Jalie interrupted. “We’re going to find a way out of here. Together,.” Almost on cue the noise of a chainsaw could be heard in the distance. The six of them all tensed up and looked around nervously.
“Well, I believe that’s my cue to get the fuck out of here.” Nick announced. He took off into the trees and Jay followed closely behind.
“Mother fuckers!” Cody screamed in frustration. He walked back over to Carmen and helped her off the ground. She immediately clung to him and he gave her a reassuring kiss on the head. “Don’t worry babe, we’re going to get out of this.”
“Then we need to go, now.” Jalie announced. Seth grabbed her hand and the four of them all took off in the opposite direction of Nick and Jay. The camera switched to those two as they were making their way though the trees. They came to a screeching halt when they found the chainsaw killer in front of them.
“Wait, he can’t kill us. We don’t reach the requirements.” Nick reassured. He stood there with his arms crossed once more with Jay a little uneasy.
“You… You sure about that?” Jay asked with fear in his voice.
“I’ll bet your life on it.” Nick said with a nod of his head. The killer raised the chainsaw in the air and the camera switched back to the other four. After a moment both Nick and Jay were heard screaming. They all stopped in their tracks.
“Shit!” Seth blurted out.
“Sounds like Nick was wrong.” Cody pointed out. “Oh well, let’s keep moving.” Cody and Carmen continued running onward. Seth and Jalie looked pissed at Cody’s comment, but knew he was right. They caught up to the other two and continued running. For what seemed hours. Finally they all stopped near a little creek and looked around.
“I could’ve swore we’ve passed this thing three times already…” Seth pointed out.
“That’s because we have. “Carmen informed. “There’s the hollowed out tree, the large boulder and the little cave.” Carmen pointed to each identifiable landmark. Cody ran his hands over his head.
“Fuck! We’re lost!” He picked up a small branch and hurled it across the creek.
“Getting frustrated isn’t going to make things any better. We have to stay calm.” Seth said.
“Easy for you to say when you fail to realize there’s a fucking manic out there trying to kill us!” Cody stomped over and got in Seth’s face.
“I know there’s someone out there. But it’s not going to do us any good to panic.” Seth tried to reason. Cody turned around and walked off as he threw his hands in the air.
“Well Mr. Cool, what do you suggest we do, eh?” Cody turned around to look at him and slammed his hands in the air. “Are we supposed to just walk around and ask for directions when we find him?”
“Are we supposed yell and throw shit around so he knows where we are!? “ Seth shot back, frustration behind his voice. Seth rubbed his hands over his face and Cody started pacing around.
“Well you know what I’m not going to do? Stand around and wait to be found. Come on, Carmen.” Cody walked over and grabbed her hand. She followed him while looking back at Jalie not sure what to do. Those two disappeared into the trees and we are now left with only Seth and Jalie.
“What do we do?” Jalie asked.
“I’m thinking…” Seth said, his face still in his hands. He took a deep breath and ran his hands through his hair. Jalie leaned up against a tree and glanced at it. Her eyes lit up and she quickly shouted out.
“I got it!” Seth quickly turned to look at her. “The moss. It only grows on the North side of the trees.”
“Are you sure?” Seth asked.
“Yeah, take a look.” She said as she went from tree to tree. “All we have to do it follow which ever way we want to go by checking which side is north on the trees.
“Brilliant!” Seth exclaimed. He picked Jalie up and spun her around.
“We better get moving.” Seth announced.
“Wait…” Jalie said softly. “What about Cody and Carmen?” Seth let out a sigh.
“They went that way, but there’s no telling where they are now.”
“We can’t just leave without trying to find them.”
“If we go around yelling for them we’ll draw the killer right to us, providing he hasn’t found them already.” Jalie’s face softened at the thought of her sister being murdered. Seth put her face to his chest and hugged her. “Okay. We’ll go look for them. But we need to be careful.” Jalie pulled away and smiled.
“Thank you, honey.” She said as she threw her arms around his neck. They gave each other a kiss and went hand-in-hand in the direction they last saw Cody and Carmen go. The camera switched to Cody and Carmen. Cody continued to lead her downhill, not really sure where he was going.
“Do you think it was wise to separate from Jalie and Seth?” Carmen questioned.
“Yes, I do. Seth was only going to get us killed with the way he was acting.” Cody said, still ushering her on.
“He’s not the one…” Carmen said soft enough so Cody couldn’t hear it. Carmen finally had enough and broke his grip on her. He quickly stopped and turned to her.
“What are you doing?” He questioned her.
“This is ridiculous! Running around with our heads cut off is not going to help us. We need to stop and think about what we’re doing.” Cody let out a frustrated sigh. “I know how we can get out of here.”
“How?” He asked.
“The moss on the trees. I remember that they only grew on a certain side of the tree. I think it’s the… North side.” She said, half thinking out loud.
“You think?” Cody retorted.
“Do you have any ideas?” Carmen shot at him, fed up with his behaviour. Cody realized this and took a deep breath.
“No, I don’t.” He said as he put his hands on her arms. “And I’m sorry I’ve been acting like an ass.” He gave her a kiss and wrapped his arms around her. She closed her eyes and held on to him.
“It’s okay baby. I love you and I know you love me. So we’re going to get through this.” She assured him. She opened he eyes and shrieks when she saw the killer standing there. Cody turned around and saw him as he started the chainsaw.
“Run, Carmen! Run!” Cody shouted. He ran and tackled the man and the chainsaw fell to the ground. Carmen stood there frozen in shock. Cody looked back at her and pointed uphill. “Go! Now! Find Seth and Jalie!” She continued to stand there another moment as Cody struggled with the man. She finally snapped out of it and ran back up hill in the direction they came from. The struggle continued and finally the man got Cody off of him. Cody’s head smacked against a rock and he laid there stunned. The man stood and picked up the chainsaw. The man walked up to Cody and raised the chainsaw in the air. The camera cut back to Carmen as she ran as fast as she could. Suddenly Cody‘s voice could be heard screaming and Carmen‘s eyes shot open as she stopped in her tracks and turned around.
“No!” She screamed as she collapsed to the ground. She looked back in the direction of Cody and continued screaming. She curled her knees to her chest and threw her head into her lap, sobbing. The camera switched back Seth and Jalie who were calmly making their way though the woods. Jalie abruptly stopped.
“Did you hear that?” She asked. Seth stopped and turned to her.
“Hear what? He asked.
“That sounded like a scream… From Cody.” She said as she bit her nails and stared at the ground. Seth walked up to her and wrapped his arms around her.
“I’m sorry baby.” He said, trying to comfort her.
“I didn’t hear Carmen.” She pulled away and looked into his eyes. “She’s still alive, I know it.”
“Do you know which way we should go? He asked. She started to bite her nails and stare at the ground. She spent a moment just standing there before shooting her head up and looking to her right.
“That way.” She grabbed Seth’s hand and led him in that direction. They eventually hear a muffled cry in the distance. They quickened their pace and came upon Carmen. She was still curled in a ball where we last saw her. “Carmen…” Jalie said as she collapsed next to her sister. She pulled her over and tried to comfort her. Seth paced and rubbed his forehead, trying to take in what he knew had happened. Jalie rocked her sister back and forth until she calmed down enough to speak. All she did was repeat Cody’s name between sobs.
“What happened, sweetie? Jalie asked her. Carmen just continued mumbling his name. “Carmen, you need to tell me what happened.” Carmen stopped the rocking and stared off in the distance.
“I had my eyes closed… We were hugging… I opened them and… There he was…” Carmen explained.
“There who was?” Jalie asked, already knowing the answer.
“Him… The chainsaw…” Jalie continued to comfort her sister while she started bawling again. “He tackled him…tried to save me… He told me to run, to find you… But I didn’t want to… I didn’t want to leave him… But he told me to… So I ran as fast as I could… Then I heard… Then I heard him scream…” Carmen buried he face into her sister’s shoulder and continued crying. Jalie looked up at Seth teary-eyed.
“We need to get out of here…” She said in desperation. Seth helped Jalie get Carmen to her feet.
“Which way?” Seth asked Jalie. She looked around a moment then started off in a direction.
“This way.” She directed. The three moved on through the trees the best they could. They suddenly heard the chainsaw start up behind them. Carmen began to panic and tried to run off but fell. She immediately grabbed her ankle. They tried to help her up but she fought them off.
“Go!” She yelled.
“We are not leaving you here!” Jalie told her. She tried to help her up again but Carmen threw her hands away.
“I’ll only slow you down! You need to get out of here!” She pleaded.
“I’ll fend him off.” Seth spoke up. “You get her out of here.”
“No! Cody tried to do that and look what happened to him! You need to go, now!” From the bushes behind Carmen emerged the killer. He raised the chainsaw in the air and went to lower it onto Carmen but Seth tackled him. Seth landed a few shots to the head then climbed off of him. He went to help Jalie get Carmen up once more but she still refused. The chainsaw man pushed the three of them from behind. The force sent Seth’s head crashing into Jalie’s, knocking them both to the ground. They slowly started to get to their feet when Carmen crashed into them. The force sent both Seth and Jalie tumbling down the hill. They hit several trees on the way down and were barely conscious when they hit the bottom. From the top of the hill, more screaming was heard. Several moment passed before Seth and Jalie were able to sit upright. A few more to realize what happened. Before they could get up they found the killer standing over them. He again raised the chainsaw into the air and in a last effort Seth draped his body over Jalie’s. The chainsaw was heard coming down when…
“Cut!” A voice yelled. Seth rolled over and found the man standing there with the chainsaw draped by his side, no longer running. He continued to look around and found Nick, Jay and Cody standing off to the side. Carmen was helped down the hill to where they were by a couple of men, seemingly unharmed. Seth climbed to his feet and helped Jalie to hers.
“What the fuck is going on here!?” Seth demanded to know. A stout, goofy looking man walked up to them.
“Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant!” The man yelled as he shot his arms in the air. Thanks to the six of you, there is no way Hollywood could deny me now!” Seth and Jalie looked to each other in confusion.
“You’re telling us… This was a movie…?” Seth asked in disbelief.
“Yes, it was. But I couldn’t let you in on it. Your performance was greater than my dead-beat actors could have done. It was magnificent!’ The man went to give him a hug in appreciation but Seth threw him away.
“You’re telling me that for the last four hours you had us thinking we were in danger for your stupid little movie!? Seth questioned with clenched fists. The man nodded with a ridiculous smile on his face. In one swipe, Seth knocked the man to the ground. He rolled on the ground momentarily holding his face. The six reunited and left the area in hopes to find their stuff before nightfall. The scene faded out.
Let’s get one thing straight, Natalie. When I get inside that ring, I am all business. I go in to win, not make friends. View me as you will Natalie, it doesn’t bother me in the least. You’re not the first person not to like me because of what I say, and I can guarantee you won’t be the last.
You’re very observant Natalie, or at least you like to think you are. Yes, I went camping. Yes, I had sex with my wife. That is what you saw. You didn’t see the training I put myself through this match. The tapes I watch so I could point out my mistakes. I’ve spent a lot of time working on improving my game against you. I felt the need to get away. Take a little vacation. Why go into a match like this all wound up?
And I don’t make excuses Natalie. Yes, I wasn’t on my game. Yes, you were better than I was last time. Happy to hear it? I know my faults, and I have no problem owning up to them.
The point is Natalie, I’m ready for tomorrow night. I’m coming at you full force and I’m looking forward to a hell of a match. Saying I won’t be able to get a hold of you? That is quite arrogant of you Natalie, just make sure you have a clear head going into this. The last thing you need is to be blinded by gold. No excuses. No regrets. No limit.
