April 15th, 2008

It's another sold out crowd for this week's edition of Overdrive as the CWA continues on after Maximum Impact. We see images of Frank Merritt, Hoshi Yakamoto, 6Pac Dudley, Tommy Purr, Max Cameron, Eli Ryder, Kannon, Kelly Buchanan and Jack Spade before we head to ringside where Henry Lesher and Ricky Simms are ready to call tonight's action.

Kelly Buchanan vs. 6Pac Dudley

"Rosenrot" by Rammstein plays as Kelly Buchanan makes her way onto the stage, the crowd greeting her with a mix of cheers and boos. She is then joined by Vesuvius and he gets resounding boos as he makes his way down the ramp, ordering Kelly into the ring. Vesuvius continues to chastise Kelly from ringside while she rolls herself under the bottom rope into the ring and then she paces inside the ring while talking to herself.

Ricky Simms - She doesn't look to be in the right frame of mind for this.

Henry Lesher - That's because she sucks. Vesuvius reminds her that she sucks. Good for Vesuvius.

As Kelly paces, her music fades and we hear "Southtown" by POD as 6Pac walks out onto the stage with tag champs Dex and Rex Cooper on either side of him, holding all of their gold high. The three of them then makes their way to the ring, the tag champions having words with Vesuvius while 6Pac climbs onto the apron and then steps through the ropes into the ring. He shakes his head as he looks towards the pacing Kelly and then he nods towards referee Francis Clarke who calls for the bell to get the action officially underway.

Ricky Simms - 6Pac is going to fight, whether she is ready or not.

Henry Lesher - Hey, he knows that a win is a win.

6Pac moves in and locks up with Kelly and then shoves her into the corner buckle before he then gives her a dropkick there. 6Pac then gives Kelly a monkey flip to the middle of the ring while Vesuvius is seen backing away from the tag team champions on the floor. 6Pac then stands Kelly up, whips her off the ropes and she ducks a clothesline from 6Pac before she gives him a knee to the back and then she gives him a bulldog to the mat before she rolls him over for the pin attempt. 1...2... kick out by 6Pac Dudley. Kelly then stands 6Pac up, whips him off the ropes and then gives him a backdrop to the mat. She then goes to the ropes.

Ricky Simms - Kelly looking strong so far in this one.

Henry Lesher - Give her a chance and she'll screw it up.

Kelly poses on the top rope and then leaps off and misses with a frog splash as 6Pac rolls out of the way. 6Pac then quickly gets to his feet and boots the boots to Kelly. 6Pac then stands Kelly up, whips her off the ropes and then gives her a round house kick to the chin that sends her down to the mat. 6Pac then goes to the ropes and he makes his way to the top. He then lands a 450 Splash onto Kelly and hooks the leg for the pin. 1...2...3! 6Pac gets the win and rolls himself out of the ring while Vesuvius then rolls himself into the ring. Vesuvius stands over the defeated Kelly while the crowd boos him.

Ricky Simms - We have seen this before.

Henry Lesher - She failed. She takes her medicine. It is that simple.

Vesuvius grabs Kelly by the hair and pulls her to her feet while he screams at her. He then spits in her face and shoves her back down to the mat. We then see Sarah Darling, Mrs. Robinson and Bombshell rushing to the ring, all of them carrying chairs. They slide into the ring and Vesuvius exits before they can get a proper swing at him. He then exits through the crowd for the second week in a row.

Ricky Simms - This is the ultimate act of cowardice. Vesuvius has become a total coward.

Henry Lesher - He's not that bad.

Backstage we see Tommy Purr with Ray Dees.

Ray Dees - Tommy, did you send the ladies out to get Vesuvius?

Tommy Purr - Vesuvius has no clue what he's doing. I didn't send anyone out to do anything to him. He wants to pick a fight with the women of the CWA? Keep picking on Kelly like that.

Ray Dees - Are you worried about him coming after you tonight?

Tommy Purr - No, I am fighting my way back into the title picture. Jack Spade has been at the top for too long and that ends soon. I will end it.

Ray Dees - You sound confident.

Tommy Purr - Hey, unlike Vesuvius, I actually have balls. I am a champion. Someone just has my gold. I just have to get it back.

Tommy winks to the camera, exits the shot and then we return to the ring.

Kannon vs. Hoshi Yakamoto

"Hero" by Ozzy Osbourne plays as Hoshi Yakamoto steps out onto the stage where the crowd gives her a loud ovation. She then makes her way down the ramp quickly and then does a lap around the ring while giving high fives to the fans. Hoshi then makes her way up the ring steps onto the apron and then leaps over the ropes into the ring. She then leans back against the ropes while her music fades and then "Voices" by Disturbed plays as Kannon comes out onto the stage where the crowd greets him with boos. Kannon makes his way to ringside, accompanied by Daniel McCoy and Garth Rivers, no sign of Kira at this point. Kannon then pulls himself onto the apron and smiles at Hoshi, though it's not a friendly smile.

Ricky Simms - Kannon looks very confident after last week's decimation of Eli Ryder.

Henry Lesher - Ryder knows how to take a beating. At this rate, his career will be over in a month.

Kannon steps into the ring and the crowd boos him as he bows towards them and then towards Hoshi in a mocking manner while referee Mark Davis calls for the bell to get the action started. Kannon moves in for a lock up with Hoshi, but she ducks it and trips the feet out from under Kannon. She then quickly goes for a Boston Crab, but Kannon grabs the ropes and she is forced to release him. Kannon then gets to his feet and then charges at Hoshi, but she steps aside and gives Kannon a drop toe and his throat lands on the middle rope. Hoshi then kicks Kannon the chest and then she backs up and goes for a 619, but Kannon rolls out of the way before it can connect.

Ricky Simms - Hoshi was going for the quick win here.

Henry Lesher - It might be the only chance she gets. If Kannon gets up, he might kill her.

Hoshi and Kannon are both on their feet and Hoshi ducks a right hook from Kannon only to take a knee to the jaw from him. Kannon then picks Hoshi up and slams her to the mat. Kannon then steps on her chest and then jumps off only to land an elbow smash across her throat before going for the pin. 1...2... kick out by Hoshi Yakamoto. Kannon stands Hoshi up, whips her into the corner buckle and then gives her a vicious clothesline to the mat. Kannon then stands over her while the crowd boos, but Rivers and McCoy are seen applauding at ringside.

Ricky Simms - This could get really ugly.

Henry Lesher - It is really ugly. Hoshi is inside the ring.

Kannon stands Hoshi up, whips her off the ropes and goes for a big boot, but she ducks it and trips the other foot out from under Kannon. Hoshi then goes to the ropes and quickly leaps to the top rope. Kannon gets to his feet and takes a dropkick from the top rope by Hoshi who then goes for the pin. 1...2... kick out by Kannon. Hoshi then comes off the ropes and lands a rolling thunder on Kannon and again goes for the pin. 1...2... kick out by Kannon again. Hoshi stands Kannon up, whips him into the corner and then goes she jumps to the top rope and goes for a head scissors on Kannon, but he instead throws her to the middle of the ring. Hoshi lands awkwardly on her side and also grabs at her back. Kannon then grabs her by the hair and pulls her to her feet. Hoshi gives Kannon a jawbreaker and then she again pulls him off his feet and she gives him an elbow across the throat before going for the pin. 1...2... kick out by Kannon and Hoshi looks frustrated with her lack of a pin on Kannon here.

Ricky Simms - Hoshi is unable to put Kannon away here.

Henry Lesher - She has as much finish as a Shmelky Brother.

Hoshi stands Kannon up, whips him into the corner and then she charges into raised knees to the chin from Kannon who then gives Hoshi a standing dropkick that sends her down to the mat. Kannon then gives Hoshi a leg drop across the throat and then he goes for the pin. 1...2... Hoshi gets a foot on the bottom rope. Kannon then stands Hoshi up, whips her into the corner buckle and then misses with a shoulder block as she leaps over it and then she leaps to the top rope. She then takes a chair to the back from Daniel McCoy and the referee calls for the bell, disqualifying Kannon. Hoshi collapses to the mat as the crowd boos. Kannon stares down Hoshi waiting to possibly put Hoshi out of commission. "Godspeed" by Anberlin then starts to play as a taped up battered Eli Ryder runs down the ramp. Eli leaps on the apron but Mr. Rivers grabs the leg of Eli to prevent him from entering the ring. Kannon drills Eli with a right hand while he was distracted with Rivers. Kannon grabs Eli and tosses Eli into the ring, Mr. Rivers yells to Kannon.

Mr. Rivers - Finish what you started.

Mr. Rivers tosses a chair to Kannon as Kannon smiles with a twisted delight. Kannon readies the chair for Eli to rise.

Henry Lesher - Yes, Kannon, put him in a box.

Ricky Simms - This Kannon is disturbed.

Kannon pulls back the chair to rifle it at Eli's head but Kira Yakamoto slides in and grabs the chair to prevent Kannon doing anymore damage. Kannon turns around and shoves Kira through the ropes and out to the floor. Hoshi runs up and dropkicks Kannon in the back of the knees. Mr. Rivers slides in and grabs Hoshi from behind, He delivers a release German, Spiking Hoshi on her head. After that instant moment Jack Spade rushes to the ring and slides in lunging for Mr. Rivers. Kannon tries to intercept Jack with a clothesline but Jack ducks it and spears Mr. Rivers to the ground.

Henry Lesher - Naturally Jack is here to ruin another night for me.

Ricky Simms - Why? Because he stepped in to do something?

Jack and Mr. Rivers roll out of the ring and start trading fists as they brawl through the crowd and out of sight. Kannon, who is preoccupied with watching Mr. Rivers and Jack brawl, doesn't realize Eli is on his feet behind him and holding the chair. Kannon turns around to take a hard chair shot to the head from Eli. Kannon staggers as Eli hits him once more to the skull with the chair. Kannon drops to one knee as Eli pelts him in the head two more times before the big man lays out flat. Eli gives him a few more hard shots while he is down for good measure as security come in and pry Eli away from Kannon. We then look backstage where 6Pac Dudley is sitting in front of his locker, still dressed in full gear when Ingee Shmelky enters the picture.

Ingee Shmelky - 6Pac, your night is considered over. Why are you still dressed for wrestling action?

6Pac Dudley - I have an idea. Ask me something that's actually your business.

Ingee Shmelky - Well.... we just wanted to know.

6Pac Dudley - Look, should I choose to get involved in anything, that's my call.

Ingee Shmelky - What are you getting involved in?

6Pac Dudley - No, that's not your business either. Try again.

Ingee Shmelky - What can you tell me?

6Pac Dudley - You're starting to piss me off.

Ingee backs away and we return to the ring.

Eli Ryder vs. Max Cameron

The battered Eli Ryder stands inside the ring, pacing while referee Steve Blake asks him if he is okay to wrestle here. He nods as we hear "Hell's Bells" by AC/DC and Max Cameron makes his way onto the stage. He slowly makes his way down the ramp and doesn't takes his eyes off of his opponent inside the ring. He then steps up onto the apron and then slowly steps through the ropes into the ring. Max then looks over to Eli and he asks him whether or not he is good to go.

Ricky Simms - Eli is not in good shape.

Henry Lesher - Eli will be retired within a week at this rate. He's suicidal.

Max moves in and locks up with Eli and then Eli shoves Max into the corner before giving him a series of kicks to the chest. Max then reverses spots with Eli and gives him repeated kicks to the chest and then goes for a hip toss, but Eli blocks it. Eli then knees Max in the back and then gives him a side Russian leg sweep to the mat. Eli then uses the ropes to get to his feet and starts putting the boots to Max. Max rolls himself out of the ring and Eli exits the ring as well. They then start brawling on the floor. Max eye gouges Eli and then slams his face into the apron before whipping him hard into the guard railing. Max then rolls Eli into the ring before rolling himself into the ring and then he goes for the pin. 1...2... kick out by Eli.

Ricky Simms - This Ryder kid is tough as nails. He fits the name well.

Henry Lesher - Oh, like CWA fans care about this kid.

Max stands Eli up, whips him off the ropes and then gives him a dropkick to the mat. Max then goes to the corner buckle, makes his way to the second rope and then lands a double axe handle smash across the back of Eli Ryder. Max then gives Eli a body slam to the mat and then goes for the pin again. 1...2... kick out again by Eli Ryder. Max then stands Eli up and whips him into the corner, hard enough that Eli falls flat on his face inside the ring after. Max then gives Eli an elbow to the back of the neck and then rolls him over for another pin attempt. 1...2... kick out by Eli and Max slaps the mat.

Ricky Simms - Max has to be wondering what he has to do in order to put Eli away.

Henry Lesher - Max is showing he has no finish tonight. Eli is a kid, just get it over with.

Max stands Eli up, whips him off the ropes and then gives him a clothesline to the mat. Max then goes to the corner and makes his way to the top rope. He leaps off, missing with a flying elbow smash when Eli Ryder rolls himself out of the way. Eli then rolls himself out to the floor to regroup and is then joined by Max Cameron. They start trading rights and lefts on the floor while the referee yells at them to return to the ring. Eli slams Max's head into the steel ring steps and then gives him a German suplex to the floor. Eli then gets to his feet and almost gets decapitated as a charging Kannon clotheslines him to the floor and the referee calls for the bell.

Ricky Simms - That coward Kannon with an attack on Eli during this match.

Henry Lesher - Oh, he's a coward, but it was okay for Eli to come out.

Ricky Simms - Eli came after him once his match was over, not during.

Henry Lesher - You're the master of making excuses.

Security is again called out to try and break up the fight between Eli and Kannon on the floor as Kannon picks Eli up and runs him shoulder first into the steel corner post. Max Cameron then gives Kannon a big boot to the chest, clearly not happy that his match was ruined by the interfering Kannon. Max then gives Kannon a clothesline to the floor and starts raining down punches on him while security tries to pull everyone apart.

Ricky Simms - Max loses by DQ and clearly he isn't impressed.

Henry Lesher - If Max had any finish to his game, this would not have happened.

As security continues to try to restore the peace, we look backstage where Shannon Skanes is with Hector Braun.

Hector Braun - There has been no sign of Crystal and you have done nothing about it.

Shannon Skanes - No one saw what happened. It's police work, not CWA work.

Hector Braun - You only care about yourself.

Shannon Skanes - Look, believe what you want. I have other things on my mind.

Hector Braun - More important than me finding my daughter?

Shannon Skanes - There is nothing I can do about Crystal. Go to the police.

Hector Braun - You're useless.

Hector storms out of the office and we catch a glimpse over Shannon's shoulder to see he has a piece of papaer which has "Bitchslap 2008" written on it. He sighs and we head back to the ring.

Tommy Purr vs. Jack Spade

"Crazy Bitch" by Buckcherry plays as Tommy Purr comes out onto the stage where he is given a warm reception from the crowd. He is led down the ramp by Mrs. Robinson and he then makes his way up the ring steps onto the apron before he steps through the ropes into the ring. He then tests the ropes while his music fades and then we hear "King of the Stereo" by Saliva and CWA champ Jack Spade comes out to a loud cheer from the crowd as he holds the title high above his head. He then places the belt over his shoulder as he makes his way down the ramp and then he hands the title belt to the timekeeper before he rolls himself under the bottom rope into the ring. He gets to his feet as referee Francis Clarke calls for the bell to get the action officially underway in tonight's main event.

Ricky Simms - This should be a dandy.

Henry Lesher - Dandy? You been watching Disney again? Tommy Purr is wrestling, so you can stop ruining it for me.

Tommy and Jack lock up in a test of strength. The crowd cheers, torn between the two though there appears to be a slant in favor of the champ. Tommy shows signs of gaining the early advantage in the test, but Jack comes back and starts to bend Tommy's wrists back. Tommy answers with a knee to the gut on Jack and then gives him a clothesline to the mat. He then lands a knee to the forehead on Jack and then stands him up, whips him off the ropes and misses with a clothesline when Jack ducks it before giving Tommy a neck breaker to the mat before he tries for the pin. 1...2... kick out by Tommy Purr. Jack then stands Tommy up, whips him off the ropes and gives him a dropkick to the mat. Jack then goes to the ropes in the corner and makes his way to the top. Tommy gets to his feet and Jack goes for a flying cross body, but Tommy greets him with a dropkick that sends both men flying.

Ricky Simms - Impressive move by Tommy there.

Henry Lesher - That was highly dandy of him.

Both men slowly get to their feet while the fans are again torn on which man to cheer for here.  Spade knocks Tommy down with a Clothesline and climbs the top-rope. Tommy kip-ups and runs to the rope, bouncing off and causing the CWA Champion to fall on the turnbuckle straddling the corner. Tommy rushes up and flips forward into a head scissors and brings Spade down from the top-rope, flipping him onto his back with the Bottoms Up! Tommy then goes for the pin on Jack. 1...2... Jack gets a shoulder up in time. Tommy then stands Jack up, whips him into the corner buckle and then misses with a shoulder block as Jack steps out of the way and then he gives Tommy a German suplex to the mat, holding his shoulders on the mat. 1...2... kick out by Tommy Purr.

Ricky Simms - Great back and forth action in this one.

Henry Lesher - Tommy will win. It's what he does and then he will become the champ again.

Jack stands Tommy up, whips him off the ropes and Spade goes for a Hurricanranna on Tommy, but Tommy catches him and keeps him high in the air, dumping him to the outside of the ring with a sloppy Tom-Bomb to the arena floor. As Jack slowly gets to his feet and collects himself, Tommy climbs onto the ring apron and launches off with a Flying Purricanranna, flipping Spade around and sending him sprawling onto his back on the arena floor. Tommy then drops and rolls himself out to the floor and then stands Jack up and gives him a knee to the gut before rolling him into the ring. Tommy then rolls himself into the ring before he goes for the pin on Spade. 1...2... Spade reverses it into a small package. 1...2... reversal by Tommy with a hook of the tights. 1...2...3! Tommy scores the win, the referee not seeing the hook of the tights!

Ricky Simms - The referee missed that and Tommy wins.

Henry Lesher - Just admit Tommy is the better man, Rick. Is that so hard for you?

Tommy jumps to his feet to celebrate and then takes a flying cross body press from 6Pac Dudley. 6Pac then stands Tommy up and gives him a knee to the gut and then a DDT to the mat. 6Pac then turns to Jack, helps him to his feet and then gives him a knee to the gut and a DDT to the mat before 6Pac rolls himself out of the ring and then he grabs the CWA title from the timekeeper.

Ricky Simms - 6Pac makes a statement to close tonight's show.

Henry Lesher - Tommy won't sit still for this. Tommy is the next CWA champion.

We fade to black with a shot of 6Pac staring at the CWA title and smiling.
