May 10th, 2008 edition It's another packed house as we get ready for another edition of Overdrive. We hear "Evolution" by Korn and see images of Frank Merritt, Max Cameron, Kannon, Eli Ryder, Hoshi Yakamoto, 6Pac Dudley, Tommy Purr, Vesuvius and Jack Spade before we head to ringside where Henry Lesher and Ricky Simms have a guest with them this week. Ricky Simms - Through a bizarre chain of events, Frank Merritt is joining us tonight. Frank Merritt - That idiot Max reported the show to the FCC and got me suspended. Me! I am the whole show. I am the monster of the CWA and that idiot got me suspended! Ricky Simms - And yet, bafflingly enough, you now sit here, the last place we would want someone likely to get the show fined again. Frank Merritt - Didn't you hear, Simms? I won a million bucks this year. I can handle a fine. Henry Lesher - I have never been happier at the start of a show. It's like Christmas. Anarchy Inc. vs. MSK "Southtown" by POD plays as 6Pac Dudley leads Dex and Rex Cooper onto the stage. The three of them receive a warm reception from the crowd as they make their way down the ramp, Rex carrying a Canadian flag over his shoulder. The three of them then stand for a moment at ringside and debate over who will start the match. Opting for Dex, he rolls himself under the bottom rope into the ring while his partners take their place in their corner. The lights then go down for a moment and the music fades. We then hear "Mein Teil" by Rammstein as the arena's lights turn red and Vesuvius leads Orlock and Kindred out onto the stage. The crowd gives them a mixed reaction as they make their way down the ramp towards the ring. Ricky Simms - Huge six man tag match here. Frank Merritt - It's five men and a 6Pac, though we have a running bet backstage as to what the hell Orlock is. I think he's the kid from that movie mask. Ricky Simms - That was Eric Stoltz. Frank Merritt - He has really let himself go... seemed shorter on screen too. Henry Lesher - Frank says the darndest things. Vesuvius pulls himself onto the apron and Kindred steps over the top rope into the ring to start the match while Orlock takes his place in their corner. Referee Steve Blake calls for the bell to get the match underway. Kindred and Dex circle one another. Vesuvius reaches for Dex from the apron, causing Dex to shout something at him and drop his guard enough for Kindred to clothesline him into his corner where Vesuvius starts raining down punches on Dex while Orlock chokes him. Kindred then pulls Dex out of his corner as the referee threatens to end this in a disqualification early. Kindred whips Dex off the ropes. Dex ducks a clothesline and then gives Kindred a knee to the back before giving him an inverted DDT to the mat where he goes for the early pin. 1...2... kick out by Kindred. Dex then pulls Kindred to his corner where he tags in Rex. Frank Merritt - If Anarchy want to win this, they need to take the stupid MSK member out. Henry Lesher - Which one is that? Frank Merritt - Whichever one is in the ring at the time. I needed money once to go out, so I asked them for two twenties for a ten repeatedly until I had enough money. These guys are thick. Dex and Rex stand Kindred up and gives him a double vertical suplex to the mat. Rex then stands Kindred up as Dex exits the ring. Rex whips Kindred through the top and middle rope right out to the floor. Rex then drops and rolls himself out to the floor. He starts trading shots with Kindred. Kindred knees Rex in the gut and slams his face into the ring apron. Kindred then rolls Rex into the ring before rolling himself into the ring. Kindred then pulls Rex to his corner where he tags in Orlock. Orlock steps over the top rope and then gives Rex a knife edge chops to the chest followed by a head butt and then whips him off the ropes. He misses with a big boot when Rex ducks it before he headlocks Orlock and gives him a bulldog to the mat. Rex then goes for the pin. 1...2... kick out by Orlock. Rex then stands Orlock up, whips him into his corner where Dex gives him a right hook and then Rex gives him an inverted atomic drop followed by a double leg take down. Rex then goes for a figure four leg lock on Orlock, but Vesuvius enters the ring and gives Rex a clothesline to the mat before he has it cinched in. Ricky Simms - Vesuvius makes a rare entrance to the ring. Frank Merritt - Don't rag on him. It's not his fault he only fights women. Rex uses the ropes to get to his feet while Orlock rolls to his corner and tags in Vesuvius. Vesuvius charges into the ring and right into a big boot to the chest from Rex before Rex gives him a swinging neck breaker to the mat. Rex then goes for the pin. 1...2... kick out by Vesuvius. Rex stands Vesuvius up and pulls him to his corner where he tags in 6Pac. Frank Merritt - The Hobbit is in the ring! Kick his ass, Frodo! Ricky Simms - You're worse than the Doc. 6Pac chop blocks Vesuvius to the mat and then starts landing rights and lefts to the head on him. Vesuvius answers by tossing 6Pac away, right out of the ring to the floor. Vesuvius then rolls himself out of the ring and then he gives 6Pac a series of double axe handle smashes across the back. Vesuvius then whips 6Pac into the steel railing and then rolls him back into the ring before rolling himself into the ring. Vesuvius then gets to his feet and takes a vicious clothesline from Rex Cooper. 6Pac then rolls Vesuvius into a small package for the pin. 1...2...3! MSK gets the win over Anarchy this week. Ricky Simms - Rex gave Vesuvius the clothesline right back and it cost Anarchy the match. Frank Merritt - The fans would be outraged if they weren't using this match to take a piss break. Henry Lesher - Can he be here every week? 6Pac, Dex and Rex make their way towards the back while the crowd cheers them on. We then look backstage where Jack Spade is getting ready for his match tonight when Shannon Skanes enters the picture. Jack knows right away what that means. Jack Spade - Dude, you have to be kidding me. Shannon Skanes - I can't find Gerry anywhere. Jack Spade - We have three weeks till Bitchslap and he no shows? Shannon Skanes - I get it, Jack. I do. Jack Spade - If this keeps up, the CWA might need to find a new champion. Jack storms off and Shannon simply shakes his head as we return to the ring. Max Cameron vs. Daniel McCoy "Hell's Bells" by AC/DC plays as we see Max Cameron coming out onto the stage to a mixed reaction from the crowd. He stands on stage for a few moments and nods his head to the beat before he starts down the ramp, not taking his eyes off Frank Merritt sitting at the announce table. As he reaches ringside, he is attacked from behind by Daniel McCoy who whips Max shoulder first into the ring steps and then slams his head into the steps five times before rolling him into the ring and then rolling himself into the ring, which allows referee Francis Clarke to call for the bell to get the action officially started in this one. Ricky Simms - Max was fixated on you and missed the attack coming from McCoy. Frank Merritt - That's partly because McCoy had some good stealth working for him, but mostly because Max is an idiot and I hate him. I can't say that enough. Henry Lesher - Truer words have never been spoken. Ricky Simms - I am in hell. McCoy places Max Cameron in a Boston Crab, going for the early submission in this one. Max reaches for the ropes while he refuses to submit to McCoy here. Max lunges and manages to grab the bottom rope to force the break. McCoy then stands Max up, whips him off the ropes and then lands a knee to the gut on Max then doubles him over. Daniel then gives Max a gut wrench suplex to the mat before he goes to the nearby corner and climbs to the second rope. Max then leaps off and lands a knee to the back on Max before rolling him into a school boy for the pin attempt. 1...2... kick out by Max Cameron. McCoy then stands Max up, whips him into the corner buckle and then gives him a shoulder block followed by another and then he goes for the monkey flip, but Max shoves him off and then Max lands a knee to the gut on McCoy before giving him a sidewalk slam to the mat and then he goes for the pin. 1...2... kick out by McCoy. Max then stands McCoy up, whips him into the corner buckle and then gives him a clothesline that sends him right over the ropes and out to the floor. Ricky Simms - Nice vicious streak shown by Max here. Frank Merritt - No one gets me suspended. Max climbs the ropes in the corner as Frank gets up from his broadcast position. He steps around the announce tables and then takes a flying body press to the floor from Max who straddles Frank and starts raining down punches to the head on him. A recovered Daniel McCoy then gives Max a spinning heel kick to the back of the head, sending him down to the floor. McCoy then stands Max up and rolls him into the ring before rolling himself into the ring and he goes for the pin. 1...2... Max gets a foot on the bottom rope as Frank is seen getting to his feet on the floor. Ricky Simms - I am pretty sure Frank wasn't supposed to leave the announce table. Henry Lesher - He does whatever he wants. That is what makes him a hero. McCoy stands Max up, whips him off the ropes and misses with a clothesline when Max ducks it and then Max gives McCoy a series of punches to the head. Max then picks McCoy up and runs him head first into the corner buckle. We then see Frank picking up a chair at ringside. Max spots him and has a few words for him while, behind him, Mr. Rivers appears at ringside and slides brass knuckles to Daniel McCoy. McCoy gets to his feet, concealing his weapon and then punches Max in the head, sending him crashing to the mat while Frank smiles. McCoy then goes for the pin while Frank heads back to the announce table. 1...2...3! Daniel McCoy scores the upset win. Frank Merritt - I knew Max was a loser. He lost to that femme. What an idiot. Ricky Simms - He needed assistance. Frank Merritt - I didn't see it. Henry Lesher - Neither did I. We then watch as Daniel makes his way up the
ramp and heads backstage. We follow Daniel McCoy walking down a
hallway. He is smiling as things are well for him and his
associates, considering the win he just got. He rounds a corner and
comes face to face with Eli Ryder. Eli is dressed in jeans and a
black T-shirt, and a pair of all black Van’s suede shoes. Daniel
jumps back surprised to be face to face with Eli. Bombshell/Mrs. Robinson vs. Kelly Buchanan/Rachel Glenn "Rosenrot" by Rammstein plays as Kelly Buchanan and Rachel Glenn make their way onto the stage where the crowd greets them with a mixed reaction. They make their way down the ramp, Kelly keeping her head down while Rachel gives her instructions. Their music fades and we hear "Piece of Me" by Britney Spears as Bombshell and Mrs. Robinson make their way onto the stage. They then make their way down the ramp while the crowd cheers them on. Bombshell and Robinson discuss who should start the match and Bombshell rolls herself into the ring where Kelly Buchanan greets her by putting the boots to her while referee Mark Davis calls for the bell to get things started. Kelly stands Bombshell up, whips her off the ropes and gives her a dropkick to the mat. Ricky Simms - This should be quite the match. Frank Merritt - Women are good in the kitchen, not the ring. Henry Lesher - Amen to that. Kelly stands Bombshell up, whips her off the ropes and then misses with a dropkick when Bombshell side steps it. Bombshell then gives Kelly an elbow across the throat, then stands her up, whips her off the ropes and gives her a spinning heel kick to the chest before giving her a springboard bulldog to the mat and then she goes for the pin. 1...2... Rachel breaks it up with a kick to the head on Bombshell before she exits the ring. Ricky Simms - It was almost over quick there. Frank Merritt - Bombshell's relationships go at the same speed. Henry Lesher - Zing! Bombshell stands Kelly up, whips her off the ropes and gives her a shoulder block to the mat before she tags in Mrs. Robinson. She steps through the ropes into the ring and then they give Kelly a double clothesline to the mat before Bombshell exits the ring. Robinson then stands Kelly up, whips her off the ropes and Kelly ducks a clothesline before doing a shoulder roll to her corner and tagging in Rachel Glenn. Rachel steps into the ring and starts trading knife edge chops with Mrs. Robinson. Rachel then gives her a thumb to the eye and then whips Robinson into the corner buckle where she then lands a series of kicks to the chest on her. Rachel then pulls Robinson to the middle of the ring and is set to give her a DDT, but Bombshell leaps off the top and gives Rachel a dropkick to the chest that sends her to the mat where Robinson then executes a pin attempt on Rachel Glenn. 1...2...3! Ricky Simms - Bombshell helped her partner make quick work of the Anarchy girls. Frank Merritt - It just proves that Vesuvius couldn't train a good wrestler to save his life. I am so glad I got away from him when I did. Henry Lesher - I second that. While Bombshell and Mrs. Robinson leave the
ring with smiles on their faces, Kelly Buchanan steps into the ring
and shakes her head as she looks down at Rachel. Instead of helping
her partner up, Kelly instead leaves the ring alone. Backstage we
see Kannon and Rivers in their dressing room. Eli Ryder vs. Tommy Purr "Crazy Bitch" by Buckcherry plays as Tommy Purr comes out onto the stage, the CWA tag title belt over his shoulder. He then makes his way down the ramp while the crowd cheers him on. He smiles for the camera and adjusts his hair as he looks at himself in the lens. He then pulls himself onto the apron and then jumps over the top rope into the ring where he tests the ropes as his music then fades out. "Rise Above This" by Seether plays as Eli Ryder comes out to an ovation almost as loud as Tommy's. He wastes no time in making his way down the ramp and rolling himself under the bottom rope into the ring. He then gets to his feet and referee Steve Blake calls for the bell. Ricky Simms - One half of the tag team champions, a man who feels he should be the CWA champ and he faces the kid who is making so many people take notice around here in Eli Ryder. Frank Merritt - Look, Eli is in over his head in so many ways. There is no way Tommy blows this match. Tommy and Eli lock up in the middle of the ring. Tommy shoves Eli into the corner buckle. Eli comes back with a forearm smash to the jaw of Tommy and then gives him a jawbreaker. Eli then pulls the feet out from under Tommy and tries to apply an STF, but Tommy manages to grab the bottom rope before it is cinched in. Tommy then pulls himself out to the floor to regroup, but Eli goes right out after him. Eli eye gouges Tommy and then whips him shoulder first into the ring steps. He then stands Tommy up and takes a thumb to the eye from Tommy who then gives Eli a knee to the gut and then gives him a bulldog to the floor. Ricky Simms - Eli was the aggressor, but now Tommy has control. Frank Merritt - Thanks, Captain Obvious. Henry Lesher - He is always like this. It's insufferable. Tommy stands Eli up, rolls him into the ring and then Tommy climbs onto the apron before he makes his way to the top rope. Tommy waits for Eli to stand and turn, then gives him a chop to the forehead from there, sending Eli back to the mat where Tommy tries for the pin. 1...2... kick out by Eli Ryder. Tommy stands Eli up, whips him into the corner buckle and then goes for a shoulder block only to find no one home as Eli side steps it. Eli then gives Tommy a series of double axe handle smashes to the back and then whips him off the ropes, then gives him a backdrop to the mat. Eli boot chokes Tommy, using the ropes for added leverage and then releases the choke, stands him up and gives him a wicked knife edge chop to the chest. Eli Ryder then gives Tommy a belly to belly suplex to the mat and goes for the pin. 1...2... kick out by Tommy Purr. Ricky Simms - Eli is again showing why he is highly regarded. Henry Lesher - Tommy is just waiting for a mistake. Eli stands Tommy up, rakes his eyes along the top rope and then slams his head into the corner buckle. Eli then hip tosses Tommy over the top rope and out to the floor. Eli climbs to the top rope while Tommy gets to his feet. Eli leaps off and gives Tommy a flying body press on the floor. Eli then rains down punches to the head on Tommy and then he grabs an audio cable and starts strangling Tommy with it. Ricky Simms - Eli has snapped. Frank Merritt - Looks like he's gone over the edge, for sure.
As the referee calls for the bell to disqualify Eli Ryder, Frank
gets up from the broadcast table and takes a step towards Eli. Eli
releases the choke on Tommy and marches up the ramp towards the
backstage area. We then see Kannon walking through the backstage of
the building. He is walking with purpose as if searching for
something or more like someone. As heads down the hallway he passes
a stack of large CWA gear crates. Suddenly they come down on top of
him. Kannon struggles from under the heavy crates, as he is able to
push the one off of the top of him. His head is bleeding from the
impact of the crates. He looks up and before he can say a word he is
rapped in the forehead by a shot from a kendo stick. He grabs at his
forehead as the pain shoots down his face. We then see Ray Dees coming into the frame, looking baffled. Ray Dees - Kannon... you're in tonight's main event. You're on next. Kannon - Then help me, you stupid sonofabitch! Kannon vs. The Yakamoto Sisters "Rocket Queen" by Guns N Roses plays as Kira and Hoshi Yakamoto step out onto the stage. The crowd cheers them on as they make their way down the ramp, Kira looking concerned. We can guess that's related to Eli's erratic behavior tonight. The two sisters jump onto the apron and then step through the ropes into the ring. Hoshi stands on the second rope and waves to her fans while Kira looks down and is clearly distracted. "Voices" by Disturbed then plays as we wait for the arrival of Kannon. The crowd boos the music itself as they wait. Ricky Simms - I wonder if Ray was able to help Kannon out of that situation he was in. Frank Merritt - If he didn't, this is the shortest main event ever. I would consider that a blessing. If I wanted to watch a fat guy wrestle two skinny Asian chicks, I could have ordered pay per view porn at the hotel and saw something decent come out of it. Henry Lesher - I have to write that down. That's golden like the shower! Ricky Simms - Yep, in hell... The music plays on as we await the entrance of Kannon. Finally, he does come out, still bleeding from Eli's ambush. He is grumbling the whole way down the ramp towards the ring, clearly not in a good mood now and he wasn't pleasant to start with. Kannon spits blood on the floor and then pulls himself up onto the apron. He steps over the top rope into the ring and then points at Kira and tells her that she's dead. Hoshi then slaps Kannon across the face while referee Mark Davis calls for the bell. Kannon grabs Hoshi for a choke slam, but Kira gives him a super kick to the chest that seems to stun him. He releases Hoshi and goes for the choke slam on Kira instead. Hoshi headlocks Kannon and goes for a springboard bulldog, but he shoves her away from him, tossing her across the ring. He picks Kira up, but she manages to places Kannon in a head scissors as she fights for her life here. Ricky Simms - Kannon weighs more than both of these girls put together. Frank Merritt - That reminds me of this movie I watched, Two Girls and a Giant Baby. Ricky Simms - I don't want to know. Kannon drops to one knee
as Kira holds tightly around his throat, trying to cut off the
oxygen and give herself and Hoshi a chance in this match. Hoshi
comes off the ropes and lands a dropkick to the chest on Kannon and
he falls on his back inside the ring where the he lands on his
shoulders. 1...2... Kannon rolls a shoulder out. Kira finally
releases the head scissor choke and then the two of them stands
Kannon up and places him in a double headlock. They signal they are
going for a double DDT, but Kannon straightens up and gives them a
double backdrop to the mat instead. Kannon then grabs Kira by the
hair and pulls her to her feet, a sadistic smile crossing his face.
Hoshi then tries to sweep the feet out from under Kannon, but he
kicks her away. Suddenly, there is a commotion as we see Garth
Rivers come stumbling through the curtains with his back to the
ring, his hands up in front of him as if pleading or trying to
reason with someone. Suddenly through the curtains stalking Rivers
down the ramp comes Eli Ryder, with a baseball bat in hand. Inside
the ring, Kannon releases Kira and she rolls herself out of the ring
to the floor. Kannon rolls himself out to the floor as well, taken
aback by what he is seeing here from Eli. Hoshi also vacates the
ring quickly. Ricky Simms - Things are taking an interesting turn in this battle. Frank Merritt - At least that's over. Who's up for a beer? Henry Lesher - Me! Ricky Simms - I hope you're wrestling next week. I can't handle much more of this. See you next week, fans! We fade to black on Kira and Hoshi helping Eli from the ring while Garth Rivers looks towards the retreating Kannon. |
