Close The Black Door

“So… anything you’d like to share?”

“You’re kidding me, right?”

“That was all for you”.

“How can you possibly justify that? This is just another damn plea for pity. It’s pathetic, Lee”.

“I know it is”.

“Quite with the ambivalence bullshit. You suck at it”.

“This isn’t the end, Shelly”.

“What are you talking about?”

“You’ve had enough, I can tell. But there’s more”.

“Oh goody”.

“Your naïve optimism has faded somewhere along the way”.

“It was never really here, Lee. It was just that beginning of a relationship lie being told again”.

“Our relationship began years ago though”.

“I’m more than aware of the history, ‘honey’. I lived it. Meanwhile, you seem to have retracted into some sort of fantasy land where you refuse to accept responsibility for anything”.

“Not true”.

“Isn’t it? You blame me. You blame your father. The closest you ever get to blaming yourself is wallowing in your self pity, embarrassing anyone and everyone you know. I expected solutions, but all I see is the same old fucking problems”.

“Like I said… there’s more”.

“Of course there is. The ‘great’ Lee Stone never plays all his cards. He always has to think he’s so smart, so on top of everything. But the ‘great’ Lee Stone doesn’t know shit about the way the world works”.

“I know”.

“That statement alone is too ridiculous to even bother trying to understand”.

“I don’t know how the world works. I’ve never been able to wrap my head around it. I admit that, Shelly. I do. But I know how the world should work. And I think that’s a pretty important thing to have a grasp on”.

“Then spread that ‘knowledge’, Leroy. Pass on your gift so I can share in your wisdom. Enlighten me”.

“Right this way”.
