Darren Dresden: Did... [He stood up straight.] ...I miss something?
Jessica Hendrix: [She shrugged as she held the remote.] Nothing too important I guess; I made soup for dinner and cornbread. [She laid her head against the back of the couch.] Just sort of figured we could have a cozy night in but no big deal. [She turned off the television and set the remote down as she started to get up.] I'm going to bed.
Darren Dresden: Whoa wait... [He placed his hands before her, stopping her.] ...You didn't exactly tell me you had some big plans, I thought I told you I was going to be with your brother...stuff.
Jessica Hendrix: I don't remember you telling me you were going out with Joey. [She kept her eyes off of him.] But it's no big deal, besides I'm working late tomorrow.
Darren Dresden: Your working late, or you just want to go to bed? [He placed his hand on the bottom of her chin making her look at him if she was willing or not.] Either way, I thought I told you...maybe I didn't why are we making a big deal out of this?
Jessica Hendrix: I just told you it was no big deal Babe; besides I want to go to bed because I'm working late. [She subtly stood up and kissed his cheek lightly.] There's soup in the fridge if you're hungry, should be as good warmed up in the microwave as it was when I first made it.
Darren Dresden: [He looked into her eyes, he was never really good at reading a girl obviously, but hoping it was enough.] Okay... [He smiled to her.]
Jessica Hendrix: [She forced a smile back and then started to walk toward the bedroom. After a moment she stopped in her tracks and turned toward him.] You know what? It's not okay Darren because even when I tried calling your phone you didn't answer. I'm not trying to be a bitch but it would be nice if you called me every once in a while. [She started to walk toward him.] It'd be even nicer if you invited me out with you and your friends once in a while.
Darren Dresden: [He was a little surprised but didn't say anything at first.] Well.. [He exhaled deeply, taking a seat on the couch.] ..I don't have a problem you going out with your friends, nor do I ask to be invited to your get togethers. The guys don't want a girl hanging around most of the time. And I didn't hear your call, grab my phone you'll probably see I didn't check it to see if I even missed a call.
Jessica Hendrix: The guys didn't seem to have a problem with girls hanging around when you were Bryce or Hunter was with Lauren. So maybe it's just me they have a problem with me.
Darren Dresden: We aren't really going to do this are we? Did you forget your brother is one of the guys?
Jessica Hendrix: So what if Joey was there? He's going to have to get used to us sooner or later, that is if you're in this for the long haul and not just killing time until you and Bryce get back together.
Darren Dresden: Wow... [He lookd up at her, dead in the eyes.] ...can't believe you would honestly say that, after how long now? Then again, this is coming out of no where, is there more you need to let out to me?
Jessica Hendrix: No I think you pretty much know everything I felt you needed to. [She crossed her arms against her chest and looked at him.] Seriously Darren you can't tell me there aren't any left over feelings for Bryce there.
Darren Dresden: I don't even talk to Bryce, so why would there be left over feelings? Bryce isn't the problem, it's your brother and now you thinking that I have feelings left over for an ex-.. [He cut himself off, standing up.]
Jessica Hendrix: Just because you don't talk to her doesn't meant that the feelings aren't there. [She walked toward him and stared him right in the eyes.] Be honest with me Darren.
Darren Dresden: Look... [He wanted to touch her arm as she pulled away as he looked at her.] ...I don't know what gives you the idea after all this time, you don't even trust me.
Jessica Hendrix: I'm just trying to save myself some heartache Darren, that's all. [She sighed as she tilted her head slightly to the side and looked at him.] Bryce was your first real love and I just can't see you being completely over her.
Darren Dresden: You don't know a lot of things about me...but you? Do you think your brother doesn't tell me some of your heartache doing?
Jessica Hendrix: [She narrowed her eyes toward him and swallowed hard.] What are you getting at Darren? You and my brother talking about me behind my back, is that it?
Darren Dresden: And what he doesn't talk to you about me behind my back, or better yet everyone. Since what, you want to save yourself from some heartache I assume?
Jessica Hendrix: In case you forgot, I pretty much chose you over him so he and I don't talk too much. [She shook her head,] And as it pretains to everyone else, just who are these other people I talk to about you because I would really like to know.
Darren Dresden: Nothing...I don't know why we are still doing this like I just came from doing something wrong with you. [He sighs.]
Jessica Hendrix: [She rolled her eyes and shook her head.] I'm going to bed.
Darren Dresden: Yeah? [He found himself being releaved at the idea sitting back on the couch.] ...don't let me stop you.
Jessica Hendrix: Don't worry I won't, you do whatever you want most of the time anyway.
Darren Dresden: Right...because I do a lot of that. [He kicked the coffee table.] For fuck sakes.
Jessica Hendrix: Same to you Bub. [She said as she went into the kitchen and slammed around various things.] I just wish you'd be home more instead of always outwith the guys.
Darren Dresden: [Darren didn't want to follow Jessica into the kitchen. He was able to take a glimps of her from his seat looking at her. After a while he did get up, he wanted to just end the night.] Well you know... [He spoke up walking to the kitchen hallway.]
Jessica Hendrix: And what the fuck was that suppsed to mean? [She asked as she turned and looked at him.] Where do you get off?
Darren Dresden: Where do I get off? Where the hell do you get off? I told you damn well I was going out and while you want to blame me for this...for what even for hanging out with friends. Do you know they are all still there getting drunk but I came home early. I could of came while you were sleeping drunk. But whatever it is you seem to have a problem with you don't mind running to Hunter, you trust him more then you trust me and then...to accuse me of Bryce? Boy you are full of it today.
Jessica Hendrix: [She shook her head unable to counter him on what he said,] Screw you Darren and screw everything you just said. Hunter is a friend, someone I can't talk to about things. I figured you'd want me to be friends with your friends.
Darren Dresden: Yeah, screw me... [He walked back and away from the kitchen.] ...goodnight.
[Jesse watched him go feeling just as ngry as she had when he first got home. She heard him go into the bedroom as she stayed out in the front. She didn't feel like sleeping in the same bed as him and instead slept on the couch. She laid awake that night thinking about the fight they had and couldn't help but hope things would be better in the morning.]
