GDW RP #5: Brothers again. ]]
[[
Record 03-03-00
| Other Stars Mentioned: Kurt
Logan, Glory Braddock. ]]

[
Beyond the pale Moonlight (OOC) ]:
I realize there are a million different
variants of the game I mention in this post. There may even be
some of you that have never played the game so I tried to keep
it basic and explanatory. Oh and also I am going to use coarse
language and slang so be prepared for that. Lastly, I am not
sure what happened to Bobby lately, I haven't talked to him in a
while. I wont hold anything against him cause I know he has a
good reason and he wouldn't intentionally leave me hanging.
[
Stalking the Prey (Prologue) ]:
Having three matches in one night is not
something to be taken lightly. Throwing in a lot of emotional
baggage into the mix stacks onto the odds in all the wrong ways.
Logan and Drake had been fighting amongst themselves and instead
of preparing for one of the biggest matches in their career they
chose the low road and opted to bicker over who was right and
who was wrong.
Previously they had a tag team title
opportunity and when the result ended in a loss for Team Wolfe
they pointed fingers and blamed each other. Logan would try and
prove to himself and his brother that it was not his fault by
winning the Civil War match and becoming the number one
contender for the World title. Instead what he got was an answer
he was looking for by his brother on exactly where his
priorities lie: in Team Wolfe.
Logan now has an opportunity to go for singles
gold. However, instead of having the luxury of deciding what to
do with that he and Drake first have a tag match against the
reigning Fever champion and the newly crowned World champion.
The first being the title Logan has won a chance to challenge
for and the latter being the title he thought he wanted. Drake
on the other hand has made it obvious he has no interest in
chasing singles matches let alone a singles title.
[
The Kill (Main) ]:
////
"We must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools."
Martin Luther King, Jr. \\\\
Logan barely walked through the door before he
was greeted by a familiar voice of one of his football buddies,
"Wolfe!" An average sized man half stumbled down the staircase
positioned just next to the door to enter the house. It was
Reggie Olson, the man to go to if you where looking to go to a
party on a Saturday night. During High School everybody attended
his parties and he wasn't shy to let anyone join. The goths, the
punks, the stoners, the nerds and the jocks all got together for
one night only and hung out to have a good time. Strange that
such a diverse group of people could get together regardless of
the cause, but everyone becomes friends at a party. Reggie Olson
didn't care who attended the party either as long as the beer
didn't run out and there was plenty of girls to flirt with. He
was pretty easy going and always fun to be around.
"Reggie! What's going on?" Logan smiles
excitingly and stretches out his arm to shake his old friends
hand, they end it with a quick slap on the back like people do
when they want to show affection but not look like they love
each other. Even in this day in age homosexuality is still a
stereotype that isn't understood and especially football players
need to keep an image of masculinity.
"Hey the guys and I are playing cards in the
dining room, you should join us."
"Come on Reggie, you know I don't like to
drink."
"Hey, nobody is forcin' you to drink bro, but
you did come to a party so you've gotta loosen up a little."
They both smile and Reggie takes Logan to the next room, "Look
what I found!"
The group of people surrounding the table all
look up and shout.
"Hey!" One says half drunk already.
"Welcome home!" says another.
Logan walks over to all of them and does the
same half-cocked hug and handshake before settling down at one
of the two empty chairs. One of the men throws a can at Logan,
"So mister big time wrestler.. what brings you here?"
"Oh come on now Pitts, I am not that self
involved to think that I am some big shot. Besides, we've been
friends since we where kids I can't turn my back on you guys."
He pats and rubs his large friends stomach like they have always
done when they see him.
Jay Pitts is a larger man, making him perfect
for the offensive line. His good friends often called him
"Buddha" and would rub his stomach and pretend like it gave him
good luck. Pitts liked being in the crowd and knew that his
friends never meant any real harm - most of them anyway. Pitt's
wasn't exactly the smartest one of the bunch either, but he was
loved as much as anyone else.
He and Reggie where good friends outside of
the circle as well. They often came up with football plays of
their own to show to the coach. Most of them involved Pitts
pushing two members of the defensive line out of the way and
Reggie strutting from behind towards the end zone. Pitts was
skilled enough that even though the defensive line knew it was
coming he could still pull it off nine times out of ten.
"Aw, that's sweet." Steve says sarcastically
as he begins dealing out the cards he's been shuffling since
Logan arrived. Logan knew instantly what game they where playing
as there was only one game they ever played at a party:
'asshole'. Not to mention the beer case on the dealers head
crowning him the position.
"So what brings you to town man?"
The Ryan twins where easy to pick out. One
wore nothing but black and had numerous piercings in his face
while the other was your typical 'pretty boy'. They where Brian
and Steven respectively. Why anyone would name there child Brain
Ryan is a mystery to everyone but his mother. It made things
especially difficult when the coach would call on one of them -
they would both look up. Luckily both played the same position
so they usually ran the same drills anyway. No one really knows
why they chose to be so different but the good thing is they
both loved football.
"Well you know I had the week off so I decided
to see what was going on back home. I see nothing has changed
much around here." Logan wasn't sure who asked him the question
so he just left his eyes on the cards, "So what have you guys
been up to?"
"Well I'm still at the movie theater--" Pitts
starts.
"Still!?" Logan cuts him off.
"Well yeah man, free movies and all the
popcorn I can eat. Why would I give up that job?"
"Whatever keeps you happy I guess." Logan
turns his attention to Steve, "You still at the 'Taco Shack'?"
"Yeah, but I'm also taking classes at Albers
to get a degree in business."
"Albers? Good for you! What about you Brian?"
"President!" Brian discards his last two
cards. "That's two in a row, baby! Everyone drink!"
Everyone chugs the rest of their beer except
Logan sips on his, still not completely interested in drinking
it.
"What the fuck was that?" Reggie almost looks
disgusted with Logan's performance.
"What?" He pretends like he doesn't already
know.
"Dude, you know the rules man. Get to chuggin!"
Apprehensively, Logan shrugged and drank the rest of the can,
which was still most of it. He probably should learn by now that
while hanging out with the group of people he is currently
surrounded by, he wasn't going to get away with anything.
Especially not during a drinking game. Steve slides Logan
another beer.
"So yeah other than being the president, what
else you got going on?"
Brian chuckles, "I just landed a job at a
tattoo shop."
"Oh yeah? You've never expressed an interest
in that before, how did you come up with that?"
"Actually I'm piercing. I figured with sixteen
of my own I would be experienced enough. It pays well enough I
guess."
"Well that's cool." Logan took a sip of his
beer to try and forget the image that just flashed as to where
the other six piercings where that he couldn't see. "Steve, what
about you?"
"Aw man, you know I just quit that painting
job I had and right now I'm just coasting along on my parent's
money."
"No school or anything for you?" Logan gets
rid of his last card.
"Nah, I've only been good at a few things in
my life and I found out football wasn't in my future so I just
don't know yet."
"Man, it's strange to think that of the five
of us varsity football players and not one of us went that
direction after high school."
"Well Connor did." Steve belts out.
"Oh yeah? Where's he this evening?" Logan
asks.
"He's around here somewhere, probably talking
himself up to some girl like he always does." Reggie responds.
"Man I hate that guy!" Brian complains, "Why
did we ever hang out with that guy?"
Greg Connor was the only member of the group
who played defense. He was also the only one who was arrogantly
annoying with his skills. He had just cause but he usually came
off so annoying that he wasn't with the group that often.
"Oh come on now, he wasn't that bad after you
got around the initial annoyance, besides he was one hell of a
football player."
"Reggie, you're the asshole!" Steve plays his
last cards.
"No, I'm still playing!" Pitts interjects.
"Play your cards then!"
"Wait is it twos or threes is wild I can never
remember?"
"Two's clear, threes are wild."
"Oh then Reggie is the asshole!" Pitts laughs
maniacally.
Pitts grabs the cards and starts shuffling.
Steve removes the beer case from his head and stuffs it on
Pitts', "So what about you man. How's the wrestling world
treating you?"
"Well I can't complain too much. I love it,
but it has its down sides too."
"Oh yeah like what?" Pitts asks while dealing
out the cards, "Oh by the way take a drink."
Logan takes a quick drink, "Well things are
not going as smoothly as I had hoped. Drake and I where having a
rough time adjusting to a loss and we both took it completely
the wrong way. We've patched things up now like always so no big
deal there. But now, we got this tag team match against the
current World champion. And then the partner is the current
Fever champion who is the man I will be facing in a solo match
later on for his gold. It's all really complicated, but that's
the business I am in."
"Well so who are these guys?" Brian asks.
"Actually ones a chick. But she's a badass
wrestler, I am not looking forward to facing her."
"Female's can face men?" Pitts seemingly
arrogant question was more of a uneducated one.
"Sure Pitts, if they want to. Some are not
comfortable with it, but most of them have the mentality that
beating a man is that much more rewarding. Really though in
wrestling anything can happen. I don't consider a loss to a
woman any worse than losing to a man."
"So is she hot?" Reggie asks?
"Well yeah she's hot for an English woman, but
don't let Ashley hear me say that!"
"You two kids are still together? Man she was
bangin' hot!"
"She still is 'bangin' hot' Reggie, and yes
she's probably going to be here later, and no you can't sleep
with her." Logan knows the drill, Reggie has been wanting to get
with Ashley since the first day of high school, she's the one
girl that continues to turn him down.
The game continues for a while and they all go
back and forth on stories of their past, reliving the glory
days.

Maybe its the alcohol that was rushed into
Logan's bloodstream but suddenly he feels very alone, and many
different thoughts course through his head. He sits outside of
the house the party was held underneath a small alcove
preventing himself from getting drenched in the rain. In Seattle
it always rained. Logan often finds the sounds of the water
droplets hitting a hard surface soothing, especially when on the
road - it reminds him of home.
He misses his dad. His dad has been gone long
enough that most of the memories Logan has are fragments at
best. Sometimes it's hard to look at his own brother since he
looks just like their father. He taught his boys everything he
could in the short time he was with them and it has made them
the men they are today. Logan thinks back on the night he had
and wonders if any of them are as close to each other as he and
his brother is.
Not even Brian and Steven who literally have
been together since conception. Logan doesn't know this for sure
but the two of them are so different. Maybe others see Drake and
Logan as different people as well. Drake has been Logan's
brother and father figure long enough that he feels guilty
treating his brother they way he did.
Maybe if he wouldn't of acted out like he did
they would have won the tag team match they lost at civil war
2010. Maybe Logan would have had his head in the game and
actually won the World contendership instead of the Fever
contendership. Maybe he would have tried harder at preventing
Drake from getting eliminated.
The wrestling world is one of many different
opportunities and outcomes and anything truly can happen.
Looking back, Logan ponders if he's even happy he won the first
tier to be a contender for a singles match. He knows he hurt his
brother and he never meant for that to happen. Logan has sense
of always wanting things for himself that he never understood.
He grew up sharing everything with his
brother; at least that's how he saw it. But really, he didn't.
Greed was a factor in many things growing up and maybe it's just
sibling rivalry but Logan always hated sharing. That might
factor into the fact that the Wolfe family wasn't exactly poor.
They have a huge pool and their own tennis court. So why not
just have everything he wants to himself?
He eventually learned to control most of those
feelings of course, but things still linger every now and then.
Especially when he's been drinking. He loves the act of getting
drunk and the surroundings around it, but at night when its just
him and his thoughts he always looks back and questions why he
did it.
Logan rolls up his sleeve and looks at the
single scar he has on his left brachioradialis. A constant
reminder of the idiotic act of cutting himself thinking he
needed to feel some kind of pain. He did it once and that was
it, but he still looks at the scar to remind him that there are
worse feelings than what he is thinking now.
"Are you alright?"
Logan quickly rolls his sleeve down and turns
around to see his girlfriend beside him. She sees pain in his
eyes and even though she doesn't know what he's thinking she has
a good idea. She closes in and hugs him. Its a long hug and no
words need to be said. Logan just rest his head on top of
Ashley's. One thing that always made Logan feel better was her
companionship.
That's they way it was. When they first met he
had weird feeling that he didn't know what they meant and as
they got older he realized it was love - true love. She never
needed to say or do anything but be there and Logan's heart
would glow. He was going to marry her some day. He just knew it.
Just like he knew he and his brother Drake
would be okay. Just like he knew he would win the tag team match
against Glory and Kurt. Just like he knew he will someday become
the Fever Television Champion; and the World Tag Team Champion at Wrestlecade.

Logan is wearing his usual work out attire
clad in sweat pants and an old wrinkly shirt with his high
school mascot on it. He sits on the edge of his bed looking
through his phone.
"Drake, check this out." Logan hands his
blackberry over to his brother. His brother too is dressed in
his work out clothes that match Logan's. The Blackberry is
opened to the front page of the GDW website.
"'Glory Braddock suffers a devastating loss of
her World Heavyweight Championship after just receiving it two
weeks prior.' That sucks, for her I mean." He hands his brothers
phone back to him.
"Yeah that's what I was thinking. But check it
out, she was in a Hell in a Cell match where she got slammed
pretty hard. She's probably still hurting which could give us
the advantage."
Drake thinks for a second, "It might, but I
doubt she is still hurting that much. I think she'll be
recovered by the time we have to face her and Kurt in the ring."
"Well I guess I was just looking for an edge
to use against her." Logan puts his phone in the duffel bag next
to him. "She is going to be a tough opponent."
Drake raises an eyebrow. "Why do you say
that?"
"Well there was another page on the site where
she was boasting her accolades. Made me think of the difficulty
that we might be in."
"Page?" Drake never really got on the internet
bandwagon. At least not as much as Logan. Logan was always
looking at the next hot new device whereas Drake was more
devoted to working out and training.
"Yeah there's this fancy thing called the
internet that's been around for like thirty years now. You
should look into it." Logan responded sarcastically.
"I know what the internet is!"
"Sure fooled me." Logan mocks.
"Okay so what is she saying about us?"
"Nothing really. I mean she just kept
mentioning being a record winning five time tag champion, and
something about being a 'tag team Jesus'."
"Yeah but you know what?" Drake sits on the
bed next to Logan.
"What?"
"That also means she lost it five times."
Logan is quick to respond, "I don't know about
you big brother, but I would rather have won and lost the tag
team tiles five times then never win them at all."
"That's true I guess. Does she say anything
else?" He changes the subject.
"Not really. I mean she said that she and Kurt
where going to beat us and we have no chance and it not being
personal. You know the usual stuff."
"Well at least she's not being bitchy about
it."
Logan new what his brother meant, "Nah, she's
pretty cool actually. She's pretty understanding of the way
wrestling works. It's in her blood."
"Not to mentions she's friggin' hot as hell!"
Drake's mind.. always in the gutter.
Logan laughs, "Yeah but she's English man."
"Yeah the 'British Bombshell' So what?"
"Oh come on. Our gimmick is the
'All-American-American" team. We can't be seen hanging out with
a Brit!" He means no offense, just looking for a laugh.
"I think we could make an exception for her."
Drakes contemplates a way to ask Glory out in his head.
"Stay on target. Keep little Drake in your tights will you?"
Logan smacks his brother right in the place a guy never wants to
be hit. "This is an important match!"
"Yeah Yeah." Drake says in pain, "So What
about Kurt. What's he got to say?"
"Nothing much more than what Glory mentions;
He was also quoted saying it being an honor to tag with Glory.
Oh and he did say one thing that was pretty funny."
"Oh yeah? What's that?" He ponders.
"He says he wants to win this match more than
we do."
Drake lets out a quick chuckle. "Well I didn't
think it was possible, but at least we know his head is in the
right place."
"Maybe."
"What do you mean, maybe?"
"He was drooling more than you are now over
Glory."
"That can't be possible either." Drake laughs
a little harder than before.
"Well, all in all I guess this match will be
about sportsmanship rather than just seeing who has the bigger
jockstrap."
Drake's mind is still on Glory, "Wait, isn't
Glory the one who has the record for the fastest person to lose
a title?"
"Yeah it's something like five minutes, so
what?"
"No reason just think it's interesting."
"She was robbed of that title you know."
Drake stands back up. "Hey! Why are you
defending our opponents?"
"I don't know, I guess I just don't think it's
fair to shove that in her face." Logan stands up as well and
grabs his foot to stretch is quads.
"You're right little brother. Sorry." He too
begins to stretch.
"You don't need to apologize to me, bro."
Logan reaches in the bag and grabs out maroon and white sweat
bands and hands two of them over to his brother.
"So Kurt is the reigning Fever champion,
that's got to have some kind of affect on you for this match."
"For sure, that's why I said it's an important
match. We need to win this one."
Drake thinks for a second slightly hesitant to
say what he is about to, "You know, I'm still not
completely excited that you are going for a singles titles."
Logan just wants that small chapter to be over
with. It was hard on everyone for the few weeks they where
fighting, "Hey you are part of the reason I am getting this
opportunity. As far as I am concerned WE are the number one
contender for Kurt's title."
"Really?" Drake blushes.
"Really Really!" Logan says proudly.
"That's awfully big of you little brother."
"I learned from the best." Referencing his
older brother.
"Thanks."
"So you ready for that run?"
"Always! And I'll tell you another thing too."
"What's that?"
"There's no way that now that we are going to
lose this match. Not this time."
"I hope you're right big brother."
Drake grabs his brothers shoulder in a
friendly manner. As he opens the door of their hotel Drake
shifts his hand and smacks his brother in the lower regions.
"Payback is a bitch isn't is Logan!" His words
become distant as he runs out the door. Logan hears laughing as
he begins to get up and chase his brother.
