"Replacing the Irreplaceable"

People look at me and Nathan Gust, and wonder what our relationship is. There were many times he and my mother didn’t get along. Hell, there were a lot of times where they just flat out hated each other.

As far back as I can remember, I’ve called Nathan my Uncle. But in reality, the only one of us kids that actually had any kind of relation was Jane. But he’s always treated all of us the same. More like a big brother than a Uncle. I remember him babysitting all of us while mom and dad were away. I remember when Will was training him, he slept on the couch downstairs, and really was like a member of the family.

When mom passed away, I went into a shell. I didn’t want to speak to anyone. I had lost the only connection to whom I was, and where I came from. Will was in no condition to help himself through it, let alone me. So it was Nate that took me aside, and told me in a voice that sounded wiser then his years, that everything was going to be alright, and that we were going to be able to get through it. And he told me about how mom was there for him and Will when his sister, Jane’s mom, Stephanie died.

He helped mold me into the woman I am today, almost as much as Will Schorg, and Becky Thompson have. He was the man I went too when I figured out that I wanted to go the wrestling route. I knew he would be able to understand why I was doing it, and how I should go about doing it. And now, I stand and look at the card for this week’s Reloaded, and I can’t help but feel anxious. This is going to be more nerve racking then going into my first PPV match three weeks ago. Winning isn’t as important to me, as much as just putting on a good show. My biggest fear for this match is that Nate will have to carry me through it. And that he will have to make me look good.

I lost the T.V. Title Tuesday, and got it back because it was given to me. As far as I’m concerned, I’m not the T.V. Champ until I prove that I deserve it again. There is no better way to do that, then to beat my mentor, my uncle, and one of my best friends.

The scene opens in Kansas City, Missouri, in the front office of RWA. We see Kotomi sitting outside Andrew Foley’s office, waiting for her cousin who is inside. Sara steps out after about ten minutes.

”Alright lets go.” Sara says to her cousin.

"Is Foley-san still upset about the belt being stolen?" Kotomi asks Sara.

”Yea, but we took care of it.” Sara tells her.

"How?" Kotomi asks.

”I’m paying for a new one.” Sara tells her.

"Paying for a new one? Where are you going to get the money?" Kotomi asks.

”I can get it.” Sara tells her, ”It’s not like it’s impossible.”

"How much will it cost?" Kotomi asks.

”Four grand.” Sara tells her, ”I’ll just have to cut cost some.”

"But what about your gear? How are you going to replace it?"

”Well, that’s the first thing.”

The scene forwards to Ozone Park. At the Schorg house, we see Sara stepping into the house, having opened the front door with the hidden key. As she steps in she calls out to see if anyone is home.

”Hello? Dad? Jane? Ricky? Chris? Anyone?”

No one responds, leaving her to believe that no one is home. She walks down the hall, opening the door to the basement. As she goes down the stairs, she can hear someone talking on a phone.

”It’s your fault….if you had just told her no when she asked you, she wouldn’t….why would you care if she hated you, you two aren’t even related! Listen, this week you better get her to quit, or I will end you! Do you hear me? I will end you your career, I will end your future, and I will end your life!” It’s obviously her step-father. He turns around and sees his step-daughter standing on the stairs. ”Oh, it’s you. I heard someone come in, I figured it was your sister.”

”No, I just came to get some things.” Sara tells him.

”Yea? Like what? You took everything that belongs to you when you left.” Will responds.

”I need some, ‘hand me downs’.” Sara says.

”Hand me downs?” Will says puzzled.

”Someone stole my gear out of the trunk of one of my rental cars last week. And the RWA T.V. Title along with it. Foley is making me pay for a new title, so I don’t have any money to replace my gear.” Sara tells him.

Will looks at Sara, and grins, ”Now I get it…well, what makes you think she’d want you to have them?” He asks her.

”But its not doing anything but gathering dust down here.” Sara says, ”It won’t hurt for me to use them for now until I can replace my own.”

Will looks over at a box in the corner marked with just the word ‘ICE’. He looks at his step-daughter ”You know that stuff says ‘ICE’ all over it. Do you really think you’re ready to step directly into your mother’s shoes?” He asks her.

”I’m not doing this to step into mom’s shoes.” Sara tells him, ”I just need something to compete in until I can replace what got stolen.”

Will looks his step-daughter up and down. He doesn’t say anything to her, he just looks over at the box and sighs. ”Go ahead, take it.” He tells her, ”Just remember something, you’re not ‘ICE’. You aren’t now, and you won’t ever be.”

With that Will walks past Sara as he goes up the stairs. Sara watches as he closes the door behind him. She walks down the rest of the steps, and over to the corner of the basement where the box lays, untouched for years. Sara opens it up stirring up dust, and pulls out an old XCW equipment bag. She unzips it, and looks at the contents inside. She pulls out the old gear, a baby blue ensemble. The top is a woman’s wrestling tank, with the word ‘ICE’ written in white cursive letters across the chest. Also inside are a pair of tights, a set of knee pads, but no boots. Sara had taken those a long time ago when she was younger, having always thought they were cool to wear. Unfortunately, they were stolen along with the rest of her gear. She digs through the box, and finds another old pair of boots, from her mother’s short lived run with SFW, with the name ‘Aurora Dawn’ written on them. She sighs, as she looks at the bright orange boots with yellow lettering, knowing it clashes with the rest of the gear. But knowing that she doesn’t have much of a choice she puts them into the bag. She zips it up, and begins to walk back up the stairs, when she opens the basement door, her step-father is standing there, waiting for her to come up. They lock eyes, and don’t say anything. Sara just walks passed him, and towards the front door. She walks out, with her mother’s equipment bag over her shoulder. And loads the gear into her car.
