Dominic Pericolo:\\ Return To The City

Matthew Christ's staff slammed into the top of the mountain, as Dominic Pericolo held onto it tightly in his effort of pulling himself up. He had defeated all of the odds to get here, and as a final token of his efforts had taken Matthew's own staff to help him reach the top.

He finally managed to climb onto the peak of the mountain, looking out over it and into the wasteland below. There was a good sized pathway leading from the top to a perch on the mountain side down below, and Dominic was quick to proceed down it. Making sure to keep his footing, Dominic used Christ's staff to keep his balance. He finally reached the perch, the wind whipping at his face and his cape, tattered and torn from his battles with Matthew Logan. He was a fallen hero, witnessing what may be the biggest fight in the history of Capital City, much less the very world. I held the staff for support, feeling my leg attempting to give out from under me once again.

It was then that I saw Chris Champion, my old friend, limping his way back onto the battlefield. Both he and Super Sharp were in pain, but Chris appeared to be clutching his arm in pain. I grit my teeth, my eyes filling with worry.

"Good luck, Chris..." I whispered, the wind slowing to a mere breeze as my cape lowered around my feet.

With all the ferocity of an F5 tornado, Sharp shot forth his attack at Champion, putting everything he had into it. A valiant scream, the voice of fear and determination blending together in one final cry as Chris Champion shot out his good arm, firing forth an array of energy unlike anything the boy had ever created before. Dominic stepped back in awe, as Chris' attack danced and blended with Sharp's, the sheer force of both attacks nearly equal. Not even he was so strong against Sharp's might...

"I-Incredible!" cried Dominic, clutching at his staff as if it were the only thing keeping him alive. He shook his head in disbelief, but then watched in disdain as the young Champion began to fall back. He was too afraid, he was unsure of his powers. He couldn't...couldn't handle it?! No! He'd come to far...Dominic would go into hell itself and drag young Chris by the back of his neck right back out if he had to.

"CHRIS!" he shouted, his voice echoing off the mountains and flowing through the air like water in a stream. As the sound waves touched young Champion's ears he was filled with a sense of disbelief. Could Dominic be alive?! Could it be possible?!

"FORGET ABOUT YOUR ARM, CHRIS! YOU CAN DO THIS, YOU CAN WIN! DO THIS FOR EVERYONE CHRIS, FOCUS ALL OF YOUR LOVE FOR HER INTO ONE GREAT ATTACK! I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT, WE ALL KNOW YOU CAN!" cried the Dominic, tears brimming in his eyes. He had failed the people of Capital City...he'd be damned to let Chris fail the world.

He had came so far just to get here and cheer him on, it was a miracle that he was even alive. But he was a Pericolo, and Pericolo's never say die.

"And neither will you Chris..." whispered Dominic, closing his eyes softly. "Neither will you."

It was now or never, it was do or die. The fate of the entire world was on Chris Champion's shoulders, and all Dominic Pericolo could do was watch.

But for all the battles...for all the pain and suffering he'd gone through, Dominic was satisfied with where he was. He was ready to see what would come through the end. He believed with everything in him that Chris could win, that Chris could beat Sharp...

"Do it for her, Chris...make her proud." Dominic whispered softly, a single tear falling from his eye. He grit his teeth tightly, as an explosion of color and sound tore through the air. Chris had over-powered Sharp, he had heard Dominic's words and took his advice, he had over-powered Sharp's attack.

But was it enough? Did Chris really beat him? Dominic lowered himself down, his body refusing to keep him up any longer. With a grunt of pain he hit the ground; staring out over the perch and looking down at the battlefield, searching for an answer.

And finally..Dominic realized it was all over. The war was over, and the eve had passed. It was time for a new day...

It was time...for a new life.
