The memories of a past gone awry still plagued the mind of a man who stood in the shadows, looking out a window into the black nothingness of space. His breathing echoed throughout the silent hallway nearby, casting a cold chill upon any life which dared to stay nearby.

"The Jedi's...are coming." spoke the man to himself, "Soon...everything comes around full circle."

He had been dubbed throughout the galaxy as 'the great betrayer', a once honorable and powerful Jedi turned to the dark side and thirsting for the blood of his brothers. No one quite knew which Jedi he was, as during the time that he had appeared several had gone missing...but one thing was for certain: the defenders of justice were prepared for revenge.

A smile cold as the space around him formed on the mans lips, though concealed by the dark helmet which covered his head.

"Thrice I was given my chance and thrice I was denied them. Soon, however...this galaxy will be mine."

Explosions.

The sound of explosions echoed through the once silent hallway, as the Jedi's continued to march their way through his defenses. He could hear the blood-curdling screams of agony from both the Jedi's and his men, and could feel a sense of anxiousness building within him.

"Hmmm...two new forces within the Jedi Knights, I can feel the presence of them both drawing ever closer. They're knew, they're unexperienced...they're unprepared. It will cost them dearly, for it is not my time to perish..."

The man turned slowly as he heard the charging footsteps in the hallway just beyond his doorway. Closer they came, until they were finally upon the door and working to get it open. In a matter of moments, they had done it and forced their way in, as lasers shot by their heads from the men chasing after them.

"Fuck...that was close." spoke the one on the left, "Damn near shit myself, you alright Slayer?"

"Yeah, let's just find the guy and be done with...it." responded Slayer, who turned his head slowly to the third man in the room they had entered. "Katsuya...?"

"Greetings, dear Jedi, and welcome to the dawn of a new era." spoke the man carefully, lifting his hands. Slayer's eyes bulged widely and Katsuya thrashed about violently, both their air supplies cut off by an unseen force.

"Struggle all you want," the man chuckled darkly, It will not save you. You see, new members of my former brethren, times are changing. The light side can no longer properly support itself, as those who once supported it violently turned against them. Haven't you noticed the sneers, the contempt given to you by the common rabble? The populace has deemed us unneeded...they believe in a world without the powers of light and dark clashing together in war."

The grip grew tighter, as the two were struggling to grab for their own weapons, a last feeble attempt at survival. Yet their hands soon found themselves pinned together in front of them, as they were unable to move them any longer.

"Ah yes, the will of the Jedi is strong...fight until the final breath, correct? It's a shame really, that you've allowed yourselves to be wrapped up in all of the lies that men like Chaz Manson have fed you. Don't you realize that the dark side has so much more to offer now? The people have given up hope, your deaths will be no more then a headline on the Sunday paper, so I ask of you. Was it worth it? All of the fighting...all of the struggling..."

"Was it really...truly, worth it?"

Slayer struggled to speak through the choking grip around his neck, as Katsuya continued in his attempts to grab for his weapon. The man let them struggle for a bit longer before finally making a 'tsk' sound.

"Pathetic...I'd expected better from a Jedi. It looks as though everyone must wait longer to know of who I am, of my true intentions...but when I reveal it, I trust that an old friend will be the first to fight back. Pity, really...neither of you will be able to witness a dream of mine that shall soon come to reality."

With a violent twist of his hand, the man let out a laugh as both of the Jedi's bodies fell to the ground in a heap, their necks snapped clear in half. Down the hallway he could hear his men fighting off the remaining Jedi, and chose to leave the ship while he could.

"It's a shame...if this is all that is left of the resistance since the end of Chain Reaction, then my journey will be much easier then I had suspected. Wouldn't you agree...Bradshaw?"

Another man slowly stepped from the shadows, a large grin set on his face as he nodded his head in a cold and calculated manner.

"I would indeed, Dominic...now let us make our escape."

The decision had finally been made.

Return.
