Dominic Pericolo:// Welcome to the battlefield

The sunlight filtered through the trees and fell upon the busted up shed in the distance, our journey having led us here to collect supplies to aid us onward. Movement, however, came from within this busted up shed...and what we were unsure of was whether or not this movement was human or animal, ally or enemy.

The risk of entering the shed was high...but it was a risk we were willing to take. Pushing open the broken down door, making our way inside...we heard the movement suddenly stop.

“S-stay back!” called out a voice from the shadows, turning the both of our heads as we looked towards a crazed figure holding a Stanley Knife in both hands, his wrists trembling.

“Tyler...Lang?” Slayer asked, his eyebrows quirking. “Hey, it’s cool man...we’re friends, alright? There’s no need to fe—“

“I’m warning you! Kill or be killed, and I won’t die here! Now get out of here damn it, don’t make me hurt you!”

I took a step forward.

“Tyler...it’s alright, if we work together we might be able to make it to the final day, we might find a way to get off this island toge—“

“NO!!” Tyler screamed, tears falling from his eyes, “There can only be one! You can’t trick me; I know what you’re up to! I’ll kill you before you can me, and I’ll do it for Michelle!”

In an instant Lang was running for me, slashing the knife across my chest in an arch. I jumped back in surprise, the sting of the flesh wound instantly becoming a bother. I was fumbling for my syringe, trying to pull it from my buckle...but Slayer had the situation under control.

”AAAAAAHHHHHH!” screamed Lang, who found his face quickly melting off his skull, the result of a point blank shot from a welding torch.

He was dead in a matter of minutes, Slayer pulling the knife from his grasp before switching the torch off. I winced, ripping some fabric from my sleeves and pressing it against the small cut across my chest, shaking my head.

“Nice of you to get involved, man...” I said, wincing as the fabric touched the wound.

This wouldn’t be the first of our encounters that day.
