A Dominic Pericolo Story, Book One: The Fall of a Hero

"I'll race ya' to the pond, Dominic!"

"Oh you're on Crystal, I'm gonna beat you this time!"

A time of happiness and sunshine, as the birds chirp gracefully and the dew lightly drips from the grass below. Two figures in the sun run onward to a destination unknown to those who watch, but perfectly clear to the both of them. The pond nearby their homes is a constant source of entertainment for the young ones and their friends, a single tree house standing proud amongst the top of the tallest tree beside the pond.

"Awww man, here they come you guys, watch out!"

The voice of another young one, this time sounding from the window in the tree house. His name is Christopher Jacobs, and his warning to his friends does not go unnoticed. A girlish scream from a corner sounds as a young asian girl by the name of Suki Minamoto runs to hide behind a large chest by the wall of the tree house. Her scream is not that of fright but of amusement, for her friends often barge into the tree house arguing up a storm over who won, and often don't watch out for who may be in front of them.

A young boy named Anthony Callous is the next to hide, moving far away from the entrance to the tree house as he hears the movement beneath them, their friends growing ever closer to the pond's edge. Soon, the expected arguing follows as the trudging of the two can be heard approaching the ladder which leads up to their hangout.

"I did so beat you! You're just a crazy girl is all, crazy crazy crazy!"

"I am not crazy Dominic, you're just slow and a sore loser!"

"Crazy! Craaaaaazzzzyyyyy!!!"

Chris groaned and shook his head, crouching in a corner and watching the door pop open as Dominic poked his head in first, looking down all the while as he argued with Crystal below him. He climbed into the tree house, crawling to his feet and helping Crystal up afterwards, all the while insisting that she was mentally deranged.

"Chris! Tell Dominic I'm not crazy! Go on, tell him!"

"Err...okay, she's not crazy Dominic..."

"Ha! Says you, you're just as crazy as her!"

"Hey! I'm not as crazy as her!"

This, of course, prompted a gasp from young Crystal and a giggle from the still hiding Suki, who watched the scenario before her with amusement in her eyes. Anthony simply rolled his own as Crystal punched both Dominic and Chris on their arms, muttering to himself.

'You're all crazy is what you are...sheesh.'

Anthony nevertheless made his way over, melodramatically pushing is way through and acting as a referee for the fight which was sure to ensue. Suki stood from her hiding, climbing up onto the chest and watching in curiosity as Crystal looked at Anthony in confusion, who stood silent between the three.

"Alright, the way I see things is like this..."

"You see things crazily is how you see them!"

"Dominic! Hush! Now then, the way I see it...there's alot of stupid stuff going on here. Why are the three of you arguin', when we could all be out getting ice cream? Eh? Ehhhh?"

Anthony had a tendency of breaking up happy moments with ideas of happier ones, it was a quality of his that his friends often appreciated. That and, of course, the money he was willing to spend on all of them. He came from the richest family, but had a heart of gold and a mind untainted by the greed one might suspect him to have.

"Anthony you rule!"

Dominic laughed, his friends no longer crazy in his mind due to the thought of ice cream. The door was reopened and the tree house soon emptied, the group of friends moving onward to their next destination: Cropper's Ice Cream Shoppe.
