act six: the death of superman

And that's just how the cookie crumbles, kids... that's just how Christopher Champion's story will truly come to an end.

This Sunday, at When Worlds Collide... he's going to step in the ring against Dominic Pericolo, and he's going to fail, and when he fails? He won't know what else to do but to wither away and die, too proud to seek the cure that he knows is out there waiting for him.

...

... what? Did-- did you expect a happy ending? A storybook finish to the storied legacy, the infamous career of the Golden Boy of the NLCW? Some sort of last big hoo-rah that was going to be a proper send-off for the self-proclaimed king of the sport?

Well then, won't you be utterly disappointed... though at least it won't be all so bad. Truth be told, the scenario described just moments before is a bit harsh, even for Chris. Fact of the matter remains that as proud as that man is, he won't let one loss force him into hiding from the world... not after everything he's been through.

Still, it won't be easy for him... he's dying, but he has a chance at surviving this thing if only he'd listen to the people who love him.

And maybe he will, maybe this Sunday, when Dominic does everything he can to put his ass in a hospital, he can get the ending that he deserves, and not an ending like... well, like this.

After all... even a character as broken as Superman himself deserves a proper send-off in the end, doesn't he?
