Background Information:
Shane busted into the A1E with a quick presence, quickly gaining a shot at Lindsay Troy’s Triple Star Title at only his second pay-per-view with the company. Although he came up short, The Sensational One seemed destined for more. He had a tough go of it for a few months, but then teamed with Ken Cloverleaf to develop one of the greatest tag teams the A1E has ever seen, Sensationally Perfect.

Sensationally Perfect was held down for several months before finally getting their due and shot at the Tag Team Titles. At Mercury Rising 2003, they got their shot and walked away with the titles after defeating three different teams in a gauntlet challenge match. After losing the titles to Spoiler and Freakfish on TNW, the champs bounced back and took their titles for a second time after Freakfish forfeited his half of the match, leaving Spoiler to himself. They continued with their second reign for some time before being dethroned by the team of Beast and Lindsay Troy.

The A1E higher-ups immediately demanded the dismantling of the World’s Greatest Tag Team, forcing them both to their own solitudes. Shane quickly ascended up the ladder, earning a World Title match against Euclid and James Irish at Vengeance 2004. Shane took the champ to the limit after eliminating James, but could only muster a draw. He was given a rematch at Mercury Rising 2004 in a Last Man Standing Hell in a Cell match that saw the champ walk away yet again with the title over his shoulder.

After Euclid retired, a fatal four-way was forced into effect at Golden Dreams IV that saw The Sensational One step into the ring with Ken Cloverleaf, James Irish, and then-champ Torment. Ken Cloverleaf walked away the champ that night, but a more fierce battle arose between the new champ and his former tag team partner, although other things would get in the way first.

After Golden Dreams, Shane and Irish embarked on yet another epic battle for power that saw them meet more than their fair share of times over the course of six months. In the end, it was seen that Steven Shane would walk away as the Cyber Champion, but a bigger bond was signified. James and Shane exchanged a handshake after the war. In James’s words, A1E’s version of The Rock and Sock Connection was born.

After Andrew Gilkison ended Shane’s reign as Cyber champ (the 2nd longest in history, in case you weren’t paying attention), Shane again began butting heads with his former tag team partner. They cost each other their spots in the number one contender’s tournament, but the battle remains unresolved.
