Seriously. Like girls. TOO MANY PEOPLE ARE ACTING.... LIKE.... GIRLS.

People wonder why I don't post as often as some people do. Man, you really don't wanna hear my rant on some of this. Really.

I've actually found that the most dramatic men are more dramatic than the most dramatic women. Granted, the average man might be less dramatic than the average woman, but I still think men have a higher capacity for it. This is helping my argument.

Aaron, did you tell Chris that you had regained your interest in the tournament at any point after sending that PM?

In all fairness, the kid was being called out on his roleplay (ironically enough by someone who gets extremely sensitive if it is done to him) and he chose to explain himself.

While posting a "private message" isn't necessarily the best route to take in such a situation, it wasn't as if he posted information that you hadn't already made public knowledge.

The amount of sensitivity at this point is a little overboard and ultimately you need to take this game for what its worth, having fun, while not stewing over little petty things.

That wasn't sensitive, it was a fairly measured, non-dramatic response to a poor move by a dude I like. It's more the spirit of the thing than anything else.

A couple of things....

AGAIN.

1. Don't complain about s**t in public. I'm specifically directing this to two people in this thread. Chris, first, whatever led you to post the private message (I'll get to this in a minute) was essentially a complaint/concern. The appropriate place for this, if any, was in the inbox of judges for your match, since it seems to me, unless I'm mistaken, that you were concerned with the appearance of your post, and why it looked the way it did, based on a private conversation you had with Aaron. Aaron, secondly, your complaint about what Chris did belongs in the inbox of an admin, whose jobs it is to moderate forums, prevent dustups in threads and clean up issues just like this outside of the public eye.

2. Do not post private messages. If you didn't know that already, Chris, you do now. I think this is generally frowned upon for good reason. While not something that as admins we will actively ding people for, it's certainly no way to make friends or inspire trust. Just some friendly advice.

3. Finally, and most importantly, if you decide to PM an admin to complain, refrain from telling the admin what he's gonna do. State your case and we'll be happy to handle the situation. More specifically, if it is your intention to be abrasive when you state your case, I am.. specifically... not the admin to send a message to.

That is all.

I think Katz just called Narrative RPers.... ladies.

Narrative RPers write about their feelings, thoughts and emotions.

Script RPers basically write about their purported dick size and how they can wave it around.

I wish I was more off-base in my thoughts sometimes.

Would a script RPer who talks about the narrative stories he writes be considered transgendered?

So you believe it's perfectly fine to... PM the guy you are facing telling him you aren't really gonna try against them. Then change your mind without his really knowing what's happening until you post you're final RP against him?

I do agree with Ben on this one, if you're going to post a big thing about bailing or just posting a big ball of bull**** if you can't get replaced out but then you change your mind, I think it'd be fair enough to give your opponent a bit of notice.

The PM thing was just daft but I can't see getting upset about it, that information was already out there, it was just re-enforcement of your forum posts

I mean, I wouldn't have wrote the story Hopper did but I can see why he wrote it, you told him were going to basically troll the RP battle and he tried to make it into a valid story for him.

Jesus, this tournament has the weirdest drama.

If I'm in it to win it, I might have included a story about how my favorite uncle lost his foot in a horrific duck hunting trip. But that's just me.

In all seriousness, I get you have Hopper's back for certain reasons... but since when did publicly posting someone's private messages become excusable on any level? It'd be one thing if harassment was the issue... but Hopper essentially posted a PM that nobody was asking/clamoring to see. I wouldn't blame anyone being VERY leery of saying anything in private to him anymore. He's set a precedent that he has no qualms about sharing those messages should it fit his own personal opinion/feelings.

Regardless of circumstances, it just should not have happened on any level. It just should be one of those known courtesies in this game. I'm not saying Hopper's a bad guy or wouldn't be fun to work with, but it's obvious a line was crossed that didn't need to be. And like Brunk said, if this was about the competition/judging -- it should have gone to Chad and the judges, not all participants/onlookers.

And as I told Aaron in a PM I sent moments ago...

It was more defending myself to Justin starting this thread and calling me lazy when I asked if it was my RP that triggered it. (The timing was why i asked him and he confirmed it and said I was lazy for going that route)

I tried making it into something my character could use in some form in order to write a passable RP....I even wrote Aaron on EWZine and told him that it was difficlt coming up with something against an opponent who wasn't going to do much of anything.

Once he wrote his first RP and it didn't read like he was trolling/etc, yes....I did ask Chad about it awhile back, but his response was simply "I was never notified officially"

So I shrugged and continued on.

The ONLY reason that PM made an appearance was in defense of Justin's charge/thread...I didn't want it to be like "yeah whatever....we have to take your word that you were told this."

It wasn't the smartest thing to release, and I did apologize to Aaron for doing it. It wasn't my intent to start something in this vein....just went about the wrong way of defending myself I guess.

ANyway....off to try and put together #3 before deadline....and I am time pressed...

Hope you all can forgive my misstep....

I am all for playing mind games with people on this level. I'll even tweet your family and friends to expose your participation in this hobby, just to throw you off your game!

I'd think posting an (OORP: I've decided to give this a try, good luck!) at the top of your first Rp for the round would be a big enough tip off to your opponent that you are trying.

Alright, we get the point, your panties are in a twist because I called you lazy. I'm sorry, but not being able to write a roleplay because your opponent may or may not post in dot matrix is your fault, not his, and certainly not mine.

Cutting promos on OOC is lazy, posting Private Message is crass, and shamelessly pandering to the judges after you got crushed is nothing short of entertaining.
