Re: ULTRATITLE Rd. 3 Br. 3+4 Unofficial Post-RP Predictions Thread!

A much better example would have been, "I pretend to be a professional wrestler who doesn't age."

There's a reason that every fed I run has a biography field for "birthdate" but not "age".

This happened after I got in a fight with a guy who was actually one of my friends for pointing out that his seven year veteran was only 19 years old and so someone somewhere fucked up.

LOL yea.. I had to retcon Edmunds and take away his "age" and most of his bio (referencing 1994 and ****) when I realized he'd be pushing 40 in 2 years.

Re: ULTRATITLE Rd. 3 Br. 3+4 Unofficial Post-RP Predictions Thread!

But, as I said in my original post, this crazy hobby of ours puts us in position to imagine that wrestling matches are legitimately fought (Irish whips and needing your opponent to help you achieve most moves, not withstanding) and that we determine who wins these matches by who writes better pretend pre-match promos...so, even discussing "what's real" and what isn't sends you too far down the rabbit hole to be of any use.

Not everyone sets out with the viewpoint of fighting legitimacy when they start writing a new piece for their character. Some people will, in the character piece, even... acknowledge... the scripted and booking mechanics of this form of entertainment.

You were the one mocking a statement of obvious truth.

Let's be honest though, swearing every six seconds only puts you on par with ECW. A much better example would have been, "I pretend to be a professional wrestler who doesn't age."

Well if you want to make my point for me, that's fine, too.

That reminds me of how apt the idea of sexual herassment is....

Becuase usually it involves a man doing something stupid because of her ass.....

It's funny, the whole debate about girls actually stemmed from a really crappy point that a "predictor" made that he was turned off that a male pro wrestling character made fun of another male pro wrestling character for losing to a girl. A character, folks. Anarky told Sarge that he wants to caress the veteran and make him humble... I didn't take it as sexual harassment from the other Josh for his character's comments...

... I mean, unless he WANTS me to.

I'm just trying to protect the integrity of men wrestling men in their underwear. But, can we tell the truth? With the exception of Lindsay, who is now retired, the only female characters left are RP'd by dudes and in MY OPINION...that makes them cyber-trannies.

Actually, it's entirely tied in! If one wants to add a greater female presence to this hobby, we have to stop discriminating against those who lose to females. If losing to girls is shameful, this makes female e-wrestling characters a disadvantage and turns off those who enjoy using characters of such gender. Don't say that the point is crappy, say that using the "you lost to a girl" argument in a promo is crappy.

Heck, just so I don't get misunderstood again: even if it's a character saying that, e-wrestling is done with characters and when the talking point spouted by the character sucks, the promo itself sucks. Hence, downvote the promo.

It really is indefensible, but do keep trying. And next time explain what makes a point "crappy" rather than disregarding it wholesale.

Not every use of the word caress is sexual. Gosh, people on the Internet always choose the sexy meaning of words! Always!

If a 6'5, 275 pound wrestler loses to a 5'7, 125 pound wrestler ... I don't care whether they have pee-pees or vajajay's .. I'm making fun of them.

I think we both know you DO care if they have pee-pees or vajayjays, Sean.

I mean, if the points made by the nephew of a world famous undead wrestler aren't crappy points, then I argue that no points in e-fedding done by characters are crappy points.

The character's point should be pointed out as weak, but instead we got the Spooky Doom diatribe about how the character is contributing to the ruin of society. Overdramatic, perhaps?

Sarge has lost to a girl character. Two of them if I remember correctly.

I had to write Mary-Lynn Mayweather vs Eddie Whisky for IWF's SURGE. Mayweather is billed as even shorter than Rey Misterio (five foot TWO) and Eddie played the conniving cheater during the build-up and he's about the size of Mike Awesome/Scott Hall.

I myself want to help female characters get more exposure in e-wrestling, but I don't mind telling you this was the most grueling match I ever wrote. So no lifting moves from Mary-Lynn, nothing outside of the rules for this "no cheating" match and Eddie Whisky has to occasionally back off from Mary-Lynn... okay. Mary-Lynn is this technician/striker... so I'm giving her tons of offence but obviously if Eddie connects once she has to bump as if a heavyweight hit her; so for all her striking prowess, Eddie seems more competent for needing less. Not to mention how this inverts the usual heel-face dynamic of giving the heel 80% control of the match and then build to the hope spot.

Since this was a "No cheating" match, I had to get plenty creative to make Eddie look creepy, with him enjoying chops to the breasts for example. We often forget how this is wrestling and not MMA; so I have to think up spots to establish heelness, but no cheating spots and still be respectful of women. It's normal for Eddie to break out of submission holds and keep the match going, but I'm not having overpower spots from Mary-Lynn so Eddie ends up slipping through a lot of banana peels to make this battle epic enough for a PPV. It ultimately ends up being close to a comedy match.

They also both have the Yakuza kicks as signature moves. All of Mary-Lynn's other signature moves are either lifting or top rope, and Mary-Lynn's finish is a top rope move too. If Mary-Lynn has her opponent down and she's on the top turnbuckle, why wouldn't she use any other move but her finish, huh?

I still have the match saved as a PM. Anyone wants it, I'll PM to you. Please further derail this discussion from real fighting (which has nothing to do with wrestling) to fake fighting, and any tips to make intergender matches seem enjoyable/logical would be appreciated by me.

What? Explain what makes the point crappy. Don't go ad hominem. I explained why "losing to a girl" makes for a bad line in a promo. And I'm saying this in a thread (originally) meant to discuss winners and losers, not as my own character. Why would you even think Spooky Doom is making those points? What makes Spooky Doom's point intrinsically crappy?

Codine's points from his character are weak. I'm the one doing so, and am explaining their harm. Ironically, you're using hyperbole to present me as overdramatic, making you the hypocrite.

Whether Sarge lost to a girl is irrelevant. The topic, as I originally presented it (and I am the one who originally presented it) is whether or not a character should berate an opponent for losing to a girl in e-wrestling. Where female characters should have just as much of a chance as the males.

EDIT: Thanks to the person who reverted my avatar title.

Re: ULTRATITLE Rd. 3 Br. 3+4 Unofficial Post-RP Predictions Thread!

After reading this thread and seeing how conscious people are of women's e-fed rights...

...in retrospect, NLW might have gone a bit too far when it banned female wrestlers, forced Carlos Canyeta to be a racist Mexican who hates the white man, and designated the hobby's only Native American character as a degenerate drunk gambler named Chief Big Bet from the Mohegan Tribe. To our credit, we closed right before debuting our only African American wrestler: Frisco Jones from South Central, LA.

I may need sensitivity training before I decide to open up another fed.
