Re: ULTRATITLE Rd. 3 Br. 3+4 Unofficial Post-RP Predictions Thread!

What? Explain what makes the point crappy. Don't go ad hominem. I explained why "losing to a girl" makes for a bad line in a promo. And I'm saying this in a thread (originally) meant to discuss winners and losers, not as my own character. Why would you even think Spooky Doom is making those points? What makes Spooky Doom's point intrinsically crappy?

Codine's points from his character are weak. I'm the one doing so, and am explaining their harm. Ironically, you're using hyperbole to present me as overdramatic, making you the hypocrite.

Whether Sarge lost to a girl is irrelevant. The topic, as I originally presented it (and I am the one who originally presented it) is whether or not a character should berate an opponent for losing to a girl in e-wrestling. Where female characters should have just as much of a chance as the males.

EDIT: Thanks to the person who reverted my avatar title.

...Codine's a heel right?

...and Codine made comments that made you angry and not like him? Made him look smarmy and "weak" from your viewpoint, and made you want him to lose?

...k. I'm going to watch both Kills Bill and wash these 11 pages out of my mind now.

NO!

The point of Codine's promo was how Mikey sucked for losing to a girl. I'm saying that berating an opponent for losing to a girl is stupid in the context of e-wrestling, where female characters should have as much of a chance as male characters. I'm not the target audience, I'm writing and expressing my opinions as someone who wants to make e-wrestling as inclusive as possible. In that context, I judge the line upon which the promo is wrapped upon as weak.

I demand a World Tag Team Title run with my team of a 3-year-old and a midget.

After all, this is e-wrestling.

Quoted here is a great example of the Slippery Slope fallacy!

In e-wrestling:
Male character = female character.

However:
female character /= 3 year old /= midget!

The more you know!

Re: ULTRATITLE Rd. 3 Br. 3+4 Unofficial Post-RP Predictions Thread!

Since when do heels need to be inclusive?

Bad guys can be sexist, racist, bigoted, etc. Garnering the "I think something this character said is stupid, wrong, and totally bass-ackwards to the way things SHOULD be" reaction, to me, is a legitimate heel tactic.

Let's say that all character traits (apart from promo skill) are purely flavor-text in the context of ewrestling. Male, female, white, black, huge, small, all flavors that at the end of the day don't directly factor into who would win an ewrestling match. In that case, Codine's comments berating a guy for losing to a woman are then on par with the real-wrestling scenario of HHH going after Booker T in the NWO angle for being black, or Lesnar making fun of Rey Mysterio for being small and Hispanic ("Jumping Bean", I think it was); heels using flavor text traits about other MALE wrestlers that really don't factor into whether or not they would win a match, but doing so because they are bad people.

This is why I don't care about Codine using "you lost to a woman" in a heel promo.

Is that what the special subheading next to the avatar is? How does one get that changed to something custom? Is that a membership privilege or something that we can ask an admin nicely for?

And quoted here is shit a publicly traded company should never, ever allow on the air!

Codine going after Mikey for losing to a girl is not a heel tactic, it was meant to delegitimize Mikey's quality as a wrestler in the context of a promo. Except what it really does is delegitimize female e-wrestling champions.

You could ask me nicely.

I changed Spooky's back, mostly because it wasn't funny.

Spooky, just what kind of hermaphrodite BS are you trying to pull here? That's like saying French Canadians = Regular Canadians. Clearly one is weaker.

THIS!

I keep trying to explain that the character is a character and it makes no difference who he is clowning on his opponent for losing to. It could be a girl this week. It could be a guy next week. The CHARACTER is making the point.

Spooky brings it up as if the HANDLER made the point and is personally running all females from e-wrestling.

I understand that my point is made and others see what I'm trying to say. I never make a comment in hopes of Spooky (the handler) changing his mind.

Saying as a handler that losing to a female HANDLER makes a person a justifiable object of ridicule is sexist. Saying as a character "you lost to a girl" is character. It's amazing how hard a time some people have at distinguishing between the two.

And this is just my opinion, but it doesn't bother me when a character who is supposed to be hated and vilified does this sort of thing (to a point; if it's getting to a shoot-burial situation, that's not good. But Codine didn't do that in his promo).

So what you essentially want is politically correctness so as not to offend stockholders or, really, anyone. That sounds like the formula for the most boring set of heel characters I've ever heard of, and thus I must vote a resounding "BOO" for this concept.

Even if they are weaker, I will not disparage English Canadians. That's what being against discrimination means.

No, Codine's promo couldn't have been done if he ragged on Mikey losing to any other e-wrestling archetype other than a woman. The handler was looking for the most humiliating person to whom Mikey Massacre lost to, and thought: ah yes, he lost to a girl, I'll write on that. Yes, everything stated comes from the character of Kendall Codine; but in the context of e-wrestling in which female characters should be afforded the same degree of respect as male characters, that line of attack was weak.

And just because someone agrees with you doesn't make them right. Popular concensus /= truth. You see me as being hardheaded, but I'm the guy addressing every detail of your post. If you have a beef with me, tell me what detail I'm ignoring.

None of these are examples of political incorrectness. And more-so than political correctness, this is about being inclusive towards female characters in e-wrestling.

Snuka, a guy from the South Pacific, hit over the head with a coconut isn't political incorrectness?? Demonizing all Russians isn't political incorrectness? Actually, it's the very essence of it. I don't even accept an response to the contrary, because if you think otherwise, you're just wrong.

I HAVE SPOKEN.

If you have a beef with me, tell me what detail I'm ignoring.

"Beef" is a strong word. I will say, the detail you're ignoring that I disagree with is when you say "female characters should be afforded the same degree of respect as male characters" in the context of efedding. OOC, this is 100% factually correct. In character, when the character being roleplayed is a bad human being who deserves our contempt and disrespect? They don't have to show respect to ANYONE, and they should be free to use ANY reason they desire to rag on an opponent.

Some heels think losing to a woman makes you less legitimate, and that you should be scorned for it. Other heels may think wrestling in Mexico makes you less legitimate, and that you should be scorned for it (Alex LeBlanc did that to Leyenda de Ocho [despite the fact that it wasn't true, but that's another story]). Other heels may think being blonde, black, married, divorced, a champion from somewhere else, a holder of a lesser title, a rookie, a 20-year vet, or being named Frank makes you less legitimate and worthy of scorn. This is ok.

You're making my own argument for engaging in the slippery slope fallacy. Whoever heard, in the context of e-wrestling, of anyone mocked for being blonde? Married? Divorced? Or for the color of their skin in 20 friggin' 12? Telling you: this sexual discrimination you're going through right now will be as unacceptable as racism today.

A champion from somewhere else? A holder of a lesser title? A talking point based on gender is in no way equal to a talking point about a wrestler's accomplishments; why do I even have to explain this??? When you're making a bunch of ridiculous statements and equate them with deligitimization due to gender, that is slippery slope fallacy false equivalence. Because a promo based on mocking a dude for losing to a girl /= a promo based on mocking a dude for being called Frank.

The challenge has been accepted under those very specific terms, with allowances for botching a few lines. Expect Youtube this weekend, weather permitting.

I'm fully aware of what a slippery slope argument is. Thank you.

Why doesn't a female character = 3 year old or a midget? I mean in e-wrestling it's about the RPing ability right? That midget RPed a hell of a match so he should beat Dan Ryan.

Oh, I get it .. because in e-wrestling you can suspend belief that a 5'6, 120 pound woman can beat a 6'5, 275 pound man .. but you can't suspend belief that a 3 year old and a midget can... because that'd show how weak your argument really is.
