For the sake of people who don't want to wade through the mess that became of the other thread.

I haven't read too many of the matchups yet. The only one I did read, Pat Gordon Jr. vs. Jeffrey Roberts was pretty close, because I think Ern is doing well with the character but Robert's stuff was incredibly strong as well. So I don't even know.

But I want an excuse to never look at that other thread again.

That's interesting analysis, since Troy Windham faced Jack Harmen and Pat Gordon, Jr. faced Jeffrey Roberts.

So you are saying intergender sucks?

I'm just joking.

bracket 4 was really strong for me....I was impressed there from top to bottom and the most intriging match up in it will be Roberts against either Windham or Harmen.

Doesn't matter wo wins to face Roberts....that match will be RP gold.

Here's what I've got....

Bracket 3

Sean Edmunds vs. The Phantom Republican
Good battle here, arguably one of the best of bracket 3. I have been impressed with the Phantom Republican character throughout, obviously showing his knowledge base and research put into each of his roleplays. In my opinion, it makes him very difficult to roleplay against. However, I think that Sean Edmunds did a very good job in finding the way to do so, countering pretty well. Very close battle here, but I'll go with Sean Edmunds.

Kiyomori vs. Boogie Smallz
I like the Kiyomori character and I think that his roleplays have been impressive, however, I'll be honest....I'm not a big fan of how he seems to throw out the majority of his roleplays last minute or very close to the roleplay deadline. I understand that circumstances arise and make keeping up with such a schedule difficult, but that seems to have been the motive throughout the tournament (please don't take that as a personal knock because your roleplays are great, but that is the impression that I've gotten following the character throughout the tournament). With that said, I'm a big fan of the Boogie Smallz character and the way in which he uses humor to belittle his opponents. In another close one, I go with Boogie Smallz.

"Total Elimination" Eli Flair vs. Eric Dane
I've kind of been put off by Dane's handler being quick to criticize/complain, yet not being able to take criticism himself (is he the same Justin that handled Stalker in SCW?). He gave up in this match before it really even started (and he's a good rp'er, which makes it upsetting). And for those that have criticized Eli Flair for acting as if he doesn't know who Dane is....well, you must have not followed him very well over the years. For as along as I've known him, Flair has always looked down upon his opponents. Hell, I've known Pete for over a decade and he'll still act as if Flair doesn't know who Codine is :)....play off of that and do the best to switch it to your favor. I go with Eli Flair in this one.

"The Blade" Kendall Codine vs. Mikey Massacre
Since this is my match, I'm not going to comment. However, I do want to go on record as saying that the comments made in roleplays does not reflect my actual real-life views :) (since its been blown out of proportion).

Round 4

Freddie Sagawa vs. Shamon
I have to say that Joe has been spot on in this tournament, with BOTH characters. Some good stuff from Shamon once again, although I would have preferred the full uncensored version of the Phoebe Cates clip :). On the other hand, Freddie Sagawa has been equally impressive throughout each round (including this one). I give the slight edge to Freddie Sagawa.

Vincenzo Savonarola vs. The Deacon
This was a good counter battle between the two characters. I have always found Warren to be one of the most difficult people to roleplay against when using Deacon. I felt that Vincenzo did a good job with his rebuttles, but I still think the slight advantage goes to Deacon.

Pat Gordon Jr. vs. Jeffrey Roberts
Another good battle (that's basically the story of bracket 4). Gordon comes off as the youngster trying to justify himself as a contender, while Roberts did very well at shooting him down each time. One of the best lines of the tournament so far...."You put your name in the same category as men like Troy Windham and Dan Ryan, but you come off more like the child at the family reunion begging to be allowed to leave the kid’s table and join the grownups." Gordon has had a nice run, but I give this one to Jeffrey Roberts.

Jack Harmen vs. Troy Windham
The best battle of bracket 4 in my opinion. Good back and forth, I particularly liked how Harmen poked fun at Windham's connections to Hollywood. I really think this decision could go either way and it wouldn't be a huge surprise. For my money, I'm going to go with Jack Harmen by a hair.

No.

Justin Buitron (screen name: Stalker) handled Stalker in SCW, handles Stalker in EPW/NFW and books IWF.

Justin Taylor (screen name: Justin) handles Eric Dane/Rich Mahogany and runs DEFIANCE.

I didn't think so, I just wanted to check for clarification. Justin that handles Stalker was always a good guy, I enjoyed working with him in the SCW.

Bracket 3

Phantom Republican/Sean Edmunds – I have heard of Edmunds before, but never crossed paths with him before (maybe we were in the same fed in the past, not sure). As for Phantom Republican, I have never heard of him before but I know the handler is a very talented individual. Not to mention, he got my attention in the Hype section off the bat by talking some smack to Boogie. So I have been keeping tabs on him throughout the tournament. I think both did a good job with their pieces. TPR had a good character development RP and Edmunds went the route of taking TPR to task on what he stood for. Although I would like to see more TPR, I give the edge to Edmunds in this one.

Eric Dane/Eli Flair – I was really looking forward to this one. I had heard a few things about Dane and wanted to see this match take place. It sounded like Dane gave up before this started and tossed out a note to at least show some effort. But that was it and he threw in the towel. I realize things happen in life and handling priorities is sometimes tough. But this is the Ultratitle. With that said I thought Flair did a terrific job with all of his promos and changed his approach to his RP in this round. Dane was OK, but I give Flair the win with a “Total Elimination” of his opponent. Sorry about the pun.

Massacre/Codine – I am not familiar with Massacre at all. I have known of Codine for years, when he was just “Blade”, so I have followed his RPs since returning for the tournament. Massacre was better than I thought he would be and surprised me with his solid work. Codine is still good, but to me still seems to be finding himself, so to speak, in his work. At least, I think he is (I can relate with my characters too). A tight score on this one, but I give Codine the edge.

Kiyomori/Smallz – No comment on the winner of this match.

Bracket 4

Shamon/Sagawa – No comment on the winner. I had a fun time writing the segments for this match and would like to thank Ryan for letting me use his characters. Best of luck to Sagawa.

Deacon/Savonarola – These two have had a tough time in the tournament, glad that they finally saw some “live” competition. Deacon had back-to-back jobber matches and I think Savonarola has back-to-back no shows. I wasn’t really blown away by either one of their RPs, to be honest. Sometimes we just play up to what the other guy does. I think the lack of competition in the tournament for Deacon/Savonarola showed. Nothing against either handler. Both did a decent job with their pieces. I don’t know the handler of Savonarola and I know Warren is well-respected in the game. Anyway, final decision in a close one…I give it to Deacon.

Windham/Harmen – Wow…really tough call for this one. I know Windham from the past and know that he is always on his game. I even picked him to win the Ultratitle in the Challonge bracket challenge. Harmen is new to me and maybe he was around when I was last here, but I do not recall to be completely honest. That said, I really dug his work and found his pieces very entertaining. Troy is still Troy, maybe the only new wrinkle I noticed was the Scientology deal. So in the end, who do I pick? I have no idea. Gonna flip a coin and hope it lands on heads for Windham since I picked him in Challonge. Heads it is. But Harmen is really good and I would not be surprised with him winning the match either. Great job by both participants.

Roberts/Gordon Jr. – I really like Roberts. I vaguely remember him from several years ago and after reading this thread…I am a fan. I hope Brunk does something with him after Ultratitle is over. Gordon did some solid work here and I think he could win against some of the RPs in other threads. But he got a tough draw with this match. I am going to give the edge to Roberts in this one.

Ahahaha, and this proves why I don't offer better insights. Reading retention fail.

Think I'll actually read all the threads tonight.

Just got back from vacation a few hours ago. As soon as I see how Sarge did in bracket 2, I may have a little free time to NOT join EPW and do some reading for the tourney.
