Yeah, well, that's just your opinion, man.

Yes, it's just my opinion. I wouldn't presume to speak for anyone else.

To elaborate, two years ago Troy Windham showed up and claimed he was taking over. He brought a few people in with him and then OMG Dan Ryan stands with the Windham Clan.

Two months ago, JJ DeVille ousted Troy Windham and claimed he was taking over. He brought a few people in with him and then OMG Rook Black stands with the Hellfire Club.

I don't like passing judgement before I see where things are ultimately going to go but I'd be less than honest if I said my reaction was anything other than what it was. Added to that is the fact that despite not being booked for matches the entire card seemed to be built around the Hellfire Club being awesome, throwing both LDO's win and shot, as well as the first defense by the new champion to the back burner. LDO is fine, he's got another chance in the GPX Battle Royal and he's now got character motivation beyond "I want to face the Final Boss," but it's disheartening to see the card booked and written as "Look at the Hellfire Club just go and take everything over, oh, and the World Champion had some kind of match type thing" when - again, IN MY OPINION - the Hellfire Club fills me with overwhelming waves of indifference.

To recap, my yawn was only directed toward Rook in the sense that two years ago JJ DeVille was named Troy Windham and Rook Black was named Dan Ryan.

I get it. I'd like you to at least consider that it's pretty hard for me to defend myself on the quality of the narrative before it's begun.

I thought it was a really entertaining show. Really excited to see where the LDO/Rook feud goes from here, especially with the "Rook is holding on by any means necessary" ending to the ME.

The world title match was a great way to get Legion's plans over...sure, he didn't really go for the belt, but his dream of pure chaos went through to perfection. Also a fun Royal Rumble-esque way to set up for the GPX finals with the locker room emptying brawl.

Kudos to Rook, Jesse, Boogie and ODII, because holy shit that thread was a lot of work. A really really fun way to sink teeth into NFW, and give Ocho more motivations as mentioned above.

Can't really comment on any parallels to past NFW stories since I wasn't here for them...but I'm excited to see where the narrative goes from here. HFC needed a boost to be a legitimate threat again, IMO, especially with all the other factions sprouting up.

tl;dr - HOORAY THAT WAS FUN

Well, you've given me some big motivation to exceed expectations.

When it comes to Mr. Pants I do not fear at all it won't be epic. Rematch for LDO should happen IMO. I think Rook should move on from the Triple Crown scene.

Wow.

A few thoughts on this thread:

1) Yawn? F that. I've busted my ass here since the Windham Clan stuff started and did that right after the DC/Dorchester stuff. I'll put my NFW run over the past 3 years against anything has done anywhere. Period. Has it all worked? No -- the Bobby Jack stuff didn't really click. But everything else I've done has been stuff I'll hold up against the best of what anyone hast to offer anyways.

I think I deserve a little more than a dismissive "yawn."

2) As far as the card being all about the HFC -- well, the HFC has beefs with nearly every character in the league. There's a reason for that -- I've been busting my ass to get all sorts of angles going and I've been doing a good job with that.

Impulse is overshadowed? Well, do something interesting with him to get him hot. That thread you did in Helsinki didn't do anything of the sort. What is Impulse right now aside from "The Champion who will fight anyone?"

You want to talk about a yawn? The only time Impulse has been interesting is when JJ was tearing him to shreds. (And, yes, JJ tore him to shreds. JJ 1. And, yes, I think that has a little bit to do with your 'yawn' non-snark snark.)

Just to add since I know this is about to blow up --

1) I stand by what I say up above.

2) Pete, you know I like you a ton. And you're one of the best RPers ever. I've got mad respect for you. But I think you're out of line with this.

ADD: Beef squashed w/ us.

Pete and Gregg are gaylords.

Other feedback:

-Loved the Rumor Mill. Whoever wrote it (guessing it was Katz) got Millwood's tone exactly right.

-I've always liked Leyenda, he's been steadily getting over, and this card only furthered that. All the 2013 newcomers are really good, in fact, and should be able to step right in to compete for the Triple Crown and TV titles.

On the whole Legion/Impulse, Rook/HFC dust-up:

I've probably talked about this in the past with similar angles, but I'll echo what I've said before: I think the NFW title, sometimes, looks like an upper midcard belt. The NFW champion is often more over outside of NFW (for being its champ) than within the league itself, mostly because there is always something else going on that is more important. I think that's what Pete was getting at, and I'm not sure that the Impulse/Legion outcome helped. I've always believe that the World Title should be the most important thing happening at all times; I know not everybody in this hobby shares that view, but that's just my mindset. With that said, on this particular card, Impulse/Legion was not the most interesting thing going on.

I wouldn't put Rook joining HFC in the same class as Troy showing up or Dan Ryan joining the Windham Clan, because nobody saw those angles coming. HFC has been actively recruiting Rook, who was already a heel, so I think this was just inevitable. We'll see how it plays out, but what I like about this move is that it opens up some great potential matchups. Rook vs. Impulse, Rook vs. Austin, and Rook vs. Leyenda are all hotter because of what happened on this card. The Dan Ryan joining =W= angle actually had the opposite effect, I thought, which is why I never liked that move.

I am excited for some of the things that are coming up, particularly involving my characters and Gregg's, but I hope that Impulse's evolution as champion remains the top story, because the title change has been the source of the league's recent momentum, in my view. It was a fresh coat of paint that probably contributed to the excitement of the new guys; the idea that the league is wide open right now. To keep that going, I feel like Impulse needs to remain the focal point.

JUST MY OPINION DON'T KILL ME PEOPLE.

Billy is fearless, but for everyone else, Gregg and I have hashed things out and there is peace in our time. Keep feedbacking!

And yes, BFF - underneath all of it, you hit my point exactly. No offense at all meant toward Legion because I really want to do that for real someday but I still think that a midcard non-match is a poor excuse for a first title defense.

To clarify my point of view, and to answer Gregg's challenge to "get involved with some more interesting stuff" (paraphrased), I used to be a huge comic book fan. I don't collect much anymore but I still enjoy the medium and love reading things I can get my hands on. A while back I illegally downloaded Chris Claremont's entire run on Uncanny X-Men and marathoned them in about a week.

One thing that Marvel, at least, always seemed to do is, after running a huge story with tons of bullets and mutant type things flying about, is that they have an issue almost completely devoid of 'action' before the next thing starts. Just a breather to collect our thoughts and move on. That's what I'm hoping to do with Impulse, at least to the next Reloaded - looking at NFW history I think Castor vs. Impulse was the equivalent of the Dark Phoenix Saga (in impact, if not scope), and before the next thing starts, a breather is necessary. My 'breather' was intended to be a run of unrelated World title defenses to get the new Champion established - as I've said to a few people so far I think a small babyface champion really needs to have some clean victories in order to be seen as credible.

Hoping to still do that while letting other things simmer.

If it could be worked in some way down the line, I'd be more than happy giving you a win over Ramey to help with the clean victory stuff. :)
