Great stuff, from the opening to the ending. I've noticed, this place enjoys a good brawl doesn't it? lol So much that you named the shows after them, but I did enjoy the show. Good opening, good short form matches, and the ending of the main event... Does it put a bookend on the Atken/Alexander/Superfly feud? Or is there going to be more? And can anyone beat Superfly Express?!

I feel like I may be THE GUY for doing this and it may be out of a place of genuine disappoint or some such (and in no way is it a reflection of my splendiferous tag partner Voss) but I dunno, with all the build and effort that went into the A&A/Superfly match that has stemmed over a good few months now, the match just seemed to not well reflect the stuff that all four of us have been working to, especially considering the finish of the match pretty much bookends the story entirely. I know it's a Brawl show and written in the style of Brawl matches but I dunno, I guess I felt the match deserved a little bit more, especially with the ending used not to give Superfly a deserving moment to celebrate the victory of a prolonged feud but rather to just have a big end of show kerfuffle that doesn't seem to achieve much.

This is certainly not a complaint against Ford and Chris winning because those guys are awesome and have established excellent chemistry as a team but really, I dunno, this just left me feeling kinda "eh" as a handler here, partially I think because I don't really see where our team goes from here and partially because I think this was the peak of what I can achieve in NFW and even that I didn't manage to follow through. I think it's the first time win or lose that I've read an NFW card and with the effort of everyone involved just felt like it didn't deliver. Especially when it's cast aside to push a different angle at the end of the show, kinda of like "fuck your stuff, we have new toys to play with".

With that out of the way and on matches that I was far less emotionally invested in and could just out and out enjoy...

- I am already loving the Peter Windham and Lane Cash tag team... actually I just love Peter Windham but there's something oddly dynamic about the duo that should lead to a mixture of fun RPs and fun segments, as we already saw later in the card with Peter truly exerting his commissioner based authority to cause some trouble and irritate the hell out of Eddie at the same time.

- The beatdown insanity that would be a consistent them of the show begins, I'll be honest, I've still to catch up with some of night one so this sudden burst of brutality caught me by surprise, I'm curious what Legion's deal is at the moment after his title shot with Impulse.

- Loved the opportunity for the Grand Prix guys to show a little bit of face during the opener and to start putting that match over as a huge deal and a massive opportunity to the guys involved. It's the kind of thing that'll keep the guys interested and focused on their match (and hopefully stick around due to seeing that they play a key role in the shows in terms of solid build to Reloaded)

- I'm really interested to see where this Impulse/Eddie deal goes when we head down the line. The segment was sort of building and hinting towards an almost Eddie/JTP like situation before everything went out of whack with the appearance of Dear Leader himself, P Dubs.

- The tag match done a great service in ensuring that Impulse, as the new champion, remains a presence within every show, while at the same time establishing The Grave Robbers as a very real and dangerous tag force within NFW. The fact that they managed to hang with the current NFW champ and the boss man up until the very last second of the match does a great service in putting them over straight away. Really good job with this one.

- Main event was solidly written but I've already went through all of my EMOTIONS at the start of this post, so we'll just leave it there and never speak of it again.

Once again another solid Brawl card - good to see The Grave Robbers being able to fight a good fight against Impulse and Eddie - having them lose due to one quick mistake worked as well I thought.

Nice to see Legion causing more chaos - many questions arise as to what Eddie will do to try and stop the seemingly random attacks, of course it'll be interesting to see how his reaction would if the GPX deal at Reloaded doesn't go exactly to plan...

I have to say it's been quite fun getting the evolution of Legion together with credit to JN and others over the past few shows - a man that despite losing everything has managed to evolve past the obstacle, it'd would be interesting to see if Stalker and Luci return how SHE would perceive this new side.

The Black Market stuff has really escalated and I'm not entirely sure how behind the whole idea I am of dedicating a WHOLE show to the new stable. I'm not saying they're not fun I'm just thinking there was a touch of over-exposure here for them as a whole and their presence on the card kinda made everything else that could have/should have happened dwarfed and insignificant to the whole accord.

I don't think anybody else, outside of Mayfield and Impulse, got over outside of the Black Market as the Pro-Revolution seemed the only team to ride the storm out. Mind you, this pairing made sense, whether it's one off or what-have-you this duo came across dynamic and I'll be interested to see what comes out of this.

I do think Impulse needs an actual program because right now he just carries the belt and I'm not so sure that I really care what happens to the World Championship while there's no meaningful program for the Champ.

I would have liked to have seen some Dorchester / Bryant stuff on this card to hype Reloaded. To me, this is the program that fans probably care most about and that's namely due to the epic work put in by GG and Biron. It was a shame they didn't use this opportunity to propel that storyline further but then again, with all the Black Market goings on it probably would have been eclipsed anyways so it was probably for the better. I also wanted to see some HFC fall out.

Onto the main event... the match started out awesome. I really loved the to'ing and fro'ing of the momentum and it was building up to climax the story that had culminated over the months.

But then it kinda felt like four guys who were running a marathon only to find out at the end they'd cancelled the race somewhere between getting to the finish line and the starter pistol. I'll be honest, I didn't take anything from this and Colin's response earlier was pretty close to the nail on the head for me, too. I almost felt like we were going to FLASH CUT-TO Vince Russo standing on the stage rubbing his grubby paws together with that shit-eating grin on his face when the Black Market stole the show again.

I'm not saying I deserved to win. That's not it by a long shot because Ford and Chris are amazing handlers. I just felt like this feud needed an ending. Even if it were an ending to one stage of it if you wanted it to continue. And I felt like this feud was climaxing to it's ending on this show. But we didn't get that ending. And it felt very final to me because while I feel like I could probably come up with ways to carry it on from here I don't really feel like I could spin my wheels again with the kind of energy I've put into it already.

There's obviously some big picture stuff involved here but for me I wanted to see the smaller picture. I wanted to see an ending to a feud that had been moving toward crescendo and instead I just got some final credits.

Not taking away from the writing, because it's always top notch so kudos on that.

I'll disagree w/ the Main Event sentiments. That doesn't read/feel like a finale at all and not sure how the feud would be wrapped up because of it. I'd say it stretches it out, but that's just me. I'll have more thorough feedback later.

I'll have more on this later in depth but I think what everyone has been saying (and I am of the same mindset) is that the RP and the angles and matches leading into the main event made it feel like it was a blowoff - SFE got owned in the singles matches so they had something to prove, while Atken/Alexander showed they can beat Nova and Harmen and just needed to do it FOR the belts - and I think the RP they did supported that.

Since it's on a Brawl we can clearly see that there are better days to come but I think I would've liked to see the focus be on the two teams in the main event. Now, if the Black Market is getting added to the tag team thing that's another story altogether because I think a three way feud for the belts has potential.

And Voss I agree with you in part on the Champion's role - the problem is that the former Champ is not currently active, and the only other people that Impulse is ready to feud with are either doing their own thing in the HFC or preparing for the blowoff of the Best of Five so nothing can really get started again until I have a GPX winner. That, coupled with the fact that Pulse only had one (midcard, non) title defense on this tour hurt what I was hoping to do. Beyond that, it's the Champ and the Fed Owner: wrestling 101 says they go over everyone. :)

Oh, 100% agree with you there. And that by no means is a reflection on your but a reflection on availability of characters.

I think the real way to gauge the winner of the Best of 5 is to see who loses because whoever THAT is should be the person Impulse feuds with, IMO. I'm looking forward to seeing how that blows off at Reloaded because 'pulse needs that program to move forward as the Champion.

I don't think the GPX Winner is the answer to your question, though. Nothing against those guys, but I see Impulse's first real championship program coming out of the TV title series.

I'm inclined to agree with you, except for two things.

1: I know who wins GPX and I think a full on program could certainly develop... if not now then soon.
2: If Stratton wins, JB is probably automatic #1 contender. If Bryant wins... Stratton is part of the Hellfire Club and the more natural fits for Impulse would be JJ (not for a long, long time) and Rook (could happen tomorrow if Pants is down).

You could probably pluck anybody out of the HFC for a feud with Impulse and have a meaningful program.

I'd love to see JB there, though, personally.

Short but sweet. I really liked the Impulse/Eddie segment, mainly because I didn't expect it and am intrigued to see how it plays out. It makes sense that the one NFW wrestler who wears the league on his shoulder would clash with the league President himself at some point.

I'm glad people are into Dirty Money. If you want to see more, I'll make sure to get off my lazy ass and write more segments/RPs with Biron. So far I've been slacking on that due to focusing on other characters and whatnot.

The tag match was an entertaining read, and I while I don't agree that this needs to be seen as a blowoff, I do think the schmoz finishes on Brawl cards are sort of becoming a dry well. We just go to that type of finish way too much, and it may not be a bad thing to do more traditional winner/loser outcomes, with the understanding that a loser can always bounce back. Just my two cents.

Great read though. I thoroughly enjoyed.

Just an outsider's view here.

But I don't buy Impulse not having a partner to run a program. If Billy is letting Castor sail off to the Virgin Islands to get his groove back, there's one man who should step in and run a program with Impulse right away.

JJ Deville.

Both men hate each other.

And their characters do too!

(rim shot.)

But seriously wouldn't this eat at JJ? Impulse as champ?

I think it'd be a fun feud for the league to run whilst Castor searches for the meaning of life.

But that's just me.

If Impulse is the company's top face and now is the champion and we would all assume this means he's the top seller and the one the suites are banking on to make the company mint, then he needs to address JJ and the HFC.

Horsemen vs. Dusty.

nWo vs. WCW.

Where's Impulse's face brigade? If he has one, my apologies. But these worlds need to collide. I know they have in the past. But he's champ now. Impulse has more weight. I would think he'd want to revisit the chance to crack JJ over the head. And Deville should want to put Knox through the ringer.

I agree that it's a logical endgame but your examples are implying that WCW didn't bungle the finish to everything they touched. I don't think they're good role models.

Your counter to 'that's logical' is 'WCW sucked' which is really a cop out. they never really did properly pay off the WCW vs nWo storyline, that's for sure, but that doesn't explain why the #1 heel faction in NFW isn't fighting the #1 face in NFW, who happens to be NFW's World Champion. Double so with the history between the sides. JJ holds a win over Impulse, he nearly killed Impulse's girlfriend, and did kill Impulse's unborn child. I mean this seems easy as could be that JJ would want a crack at a World Champion he's got a victory over, and that Impulse would want to right that wrong and get revenge for the attack once and for all.

Different mindsets.

JJ kept Impulse down, attacked him, attacked his girl, questionably pinned him, and was quoted as saying "Impulse is the worst wrestler in NFW."

Impulse went out and won the World Title while JJ moved from one stable to another, the act of doing so effectively killed off all of the stroke he held in the front office. In Impulse's mind (Which is backed up by historical trends), he won the long game by rising above while JJ has stagnated. The next move has to be JJ's.

So the face champion is going to make the heel challenger jump through hoops to get a title shot at him. That seems completely backwards from a booking 101 standpoint.

I like it in the sense that it's what JJ would do to him and, personally, I think that Impulse is the right kind of face (a bit snarky) to pull it off.

You are correct, Biron. It may be "backwards booking" except that it's not, but in a kayfabe sense, why would Impulse offer JJ a shot at his title belt? He'd be begging for the Hellfire Club to interfere and with a four on three advantage they might be able to steal it.

At the same time, "jumping through hoops" may be the dumbest leap of illogic I've heard all year - JJ simply has to take the next step if he wants this match, which, so far in the annals of the HFC, doesn't seem like he does.
