Next up is Executive Decision, so lets rock this (feedback) before Thanksgiving. We can comeback swinging for the fences on the big blow off after relentlessly stuffing ourselves, get that show wrapped up and start (booking) looking ahead to the next arc before Christmas and New Years. Lots of big things going down in DEFtown, wha'cha'gunna do, brother!?

You know what to do, so lets do it.

Match of the Night:
This will sound like a cop-out, but I enjoyed several matches on this card and had some really good build towards Executive Decision. The Skybreakers vs. Katze/Corozzo/Samuel T. Turner was great, Team Holiday vs. Team Pyre was great, the main event was a fun bit of chaos.

Segment of the Night:
Curtis Penn and Eugene Dewey: Executive Decision Stipulation. FANTASTIC final build for what has been a really fun feud between two polar opposites. The stocks of both guys wil no doubt rise after this.

Surprise of the Night:
Genuinely shocked that Pyre ate the fall to Rich Mahogany of all people, but given how the match ended he wasn't exactly buried in any way. Love that this spawned off into Noble/Keyes, which has the legs for a potentially good feud.

Holy Shit Moment of the Night:
The opening brawl with the BDH and the LBC was a great way to open the show.

Babyface of the Night:
Eugene Dewey. Him taking the challenge against Penn, knowing that he could very well be fucked in submission rules. And continued to fight the odds along World Champ Dusty Griffith in the main.

Heel of the Night:
Curtis Penn. Bwahahahaha, what a glorious dickhead. I know he doesn't want friends, but I would love to have Team HOSS get in a segment with him or even have Junior Keeling try to sell him on shit.

Honorable mention for SAMUEL T. TURNER THE SECOND which is amazing.

MVP of the Night (IC):
Can't really decide on just one for this show. Sorry.

Best Line of the Night:
I got a kick out of the whole Ty Walker/Lance Warner bit post-match about the Sons of the Soil.

What Ruled?
Really solid show that did a fantastic job of building up the stories heading into Executive Decision.

What sucked?
Got nothing bad to say about the show overall.

I'll comment tomorrow about this one when I'm working from home, but the one bad thing I did notice is that one of the Dusty/FDJ segs was repeated, the first one.

I'm sick with a temp of 99.3 to 102.2. Cold chills, body aches, headache, blood sugar was up (320) but lowered today and my thumb/index/middle fingers on my right hand have been numb but are better today (the one with full motion). Last night my belly hurt and rumbled that I was praying to either puke or poop, srsly who does that?

i'll read the show and get back on feedback as soon as I can.

I'll keep someone on staff as updated as I can on FB.

Alright, alright, enough of these posts that have nothing to do with feedback...

AT FULL STRENGTH
Cutting to the chase, I dig it… lulz at the Lindsay’s Hole spot in the commentary… BRAWL-O-RAMA AT THE RASSLEPLAX!... Good stuff, looking forward to the Executive Decision match, should be awesome sauce.

TONY DAVIS vs CAPITAL PUNISHMENT
Turtle-Raper, hah… Ewww, dat ice cream sammich… Done pissed Cap off, time to put the hurting on Mr. Davis… BABYFACECOMEBACK!... Classic Heel Manager shenanigans… Out of nowhere finish as the clusterfuck rages on the outside, good stuff.

TIL THE TRUTH STARTS FALLIN OUT
Me and Justin wrote this.

WHITEWOOD’s WEB
Hah, Hogskin… Dante out to be all smarmy… Sooo awkward when the fans don’t pop for you… HAAAAAAH, Teddy Ruxpin!... Of course wrestling fans would start to get into something like this, life imitating art and so on and so forth in DEFIANCE.

SKYBREAKERS vs BLOOD DIAMONDS
Chris, Rob and myself wrote this.

WRONG PLACE, WRONG TIME
Once Junior and HOSS show up, this thing veers away from the Dawson’s Party of Five at the Creek vibe of the Noble / MLM stuff. I don’t have anything against it, but I do hope this leads to something that pushes Noble forward, otherwise, it’s something that I feel is better suited as a roleplay and not some throwaway material to setup a heel’s interruption, since this didn’t lead to a match involving Noble… And yes, there’s a reason things are cliches, because they work.

ERIC DANE vs FRANK DYLAN JAMES
This is how Eff Dee Jay gets to the bottom of things… With civil conversation… Using his fists… With normal human beings, it makes no sense whatsoever, but in FDJ’s world, it’s the most sensical thing ever.

PENN & DEWEY: PAPERVIEW STIP REVEAL!
Curtis Penn is never off point when he’s talking, good work Jon, you seem to be hitting the mark every time out… And Euge comes out swinging with the mic work, very good spot there where Euge clues Penn in about being able to pummel him into submission, and Penn’s reaction is spot on… Good stuff, guys, this whole arc has been real strong for Euge and Penn.

YOU DISAPPOINT ME
Dan Ryan gunna Dan Ryan all over your face, poor Troy… Gotta wonder though, where were Ty and Jake when this happened? Jake was probably signing autographs to get over his disappointment, Ty was probably rambleranting at White to make the match with the Sons.

ONE HELLUVA CONVERSATION
I wrote this.

TEAM HOLIDAY vs TEAM PYRE
Some real nifty teams there, should be good… The plot thickens here with the constant friction between Noble and Keyes… And Frank playing Ricky Morton in this match is weird, probably should have been Rich, with his wanting to tag in a little later and he gets his heat with Pyre, then it goes sideways on him… Actually, even having LT play Ricky Morton makes sense because of the earlier brawl, but it’s all good so far, just me being nitpicky is all… Though as I continue reading this, Frank playing BFIP (babyface in peril) makes sense because of his issues with Pyre and Noble, soooo, yeah… Angus with the inappropriate commentary regarding LT, so, absolute gold, natch… Other nitpicky comment, instead of TROY TROY TROY for the crowd chants, I’d suggest LIN-ZEE, rolls better… Oooh boy, this thing is breaking down now, and serving as a nifty setup for what I assume will be a Keyes / Noble fight at the paperview… RICHIE WINS! RICHIE WINS! DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES?! YES!!... Solid work folks, everyone got shine, pushed things forward, kept things moving, can’t really do much more for a go home show.

RANK UP YOUR GAME SON
So, now that he doesn’t have the Cool Shades, does this mean he’s no longer BIG KING COOL?... Also, solid message being conveyed, get it right or get out, simple, to the point, didn’t need 5 pages of meandering ramble, so it didn’t use it to say what it needed to say.

DUSTY & EUGE vs RYAN & BOOYA
First I want to say that I’m sorry for being a big bucket of fail, and not adding my own intro or really doing anything to help with this… Fourth Wall Smash!... Good heel taunting… Good sequence there where Dusty & Euge work over Booya, both of them getting some shots in… Ryan working the subs, showing Euge’s inexperience with the ground game, like it… MOAR! Fourth Wall Breakage in the commentary, hah… OUTSTANDING use of tags in this match, including the “false tag” for the babyfaces that Doyle didn’t see and thus cuts off the “hot tag”... Constant double team action by the Diamonds, good stuff… HOT TAG ACTION!... HEELS CUT THAT SHIT OUT IN A HURRY… DUSTY AND RYAN IN THE RING AT THE SAME TIME!!!... BOOO!! Cut off by the moron Booya, haha… WHOOO BABYFACE SAVE BY EFF DEE JAY!!... CURTIS PENN!!! PANDA BEAR LINOLEUM!!!... Euge’s Wedding Tackle?! hahaaaaaahahaha, that’s a good one… BOOM! Executive Decision… WE COMIN FOR YEEEEW, NIGGA!... Serious though, dunno why Dames was worried about this match, it was good stuff start to finish, you just gotta… BOOOOOOLIEEEEEEVE! *thumbs up*

Match of the Night:

I'll give this to Team Pyre vs. Team Holiday. It was an interesting dynamic and cluster of allies, and the ending was a great jumping point to set up Keyes/Noble. Plus, Rich Mahogany's antics are always entertaining to me.

Segment of the Night:

I'll give this to the opener with LBC/BDH. Action packed and just the right amount of dialogue to make it the most well-rounded of the night.

Surprise of the Night:

This is probably a cop-out but I laughed really hard when Tony Davis pulled an ice cream sandwich out of his trunks. Nobody expects that shit!

Holy Shit Moment of the Night:

Jonny Booya expressing tact in language for a brief moment.

Babyface of the Night:

Eugene Dewey, once again. He bucked in Curtis Penn's face on that stipulation announcement. Dude is the most over on the roster IMO right now from a kayfabe standpoint.

Heel of the Night:

"Samuel T. Turner II" and his shit-eating makeover. There is nothing better to compliment a turn than a new, annoying look.

MVP of the Night (IC):

Lindsey Troy. Although the BDH failed to get one fully over on the LBC, they got their shots in and a snippet of revenge that will culminate nicely. Plus, was a keynote in the win for Team Holiday.

Best Line of the Night:

David Noble:
Hey Mary-Lynn, nice to see you. You like nice. [pauses] Okay, that is stupid. Really stupid. [pauses again] How about, listen, I know it has been a long time, but I’ve been thinking about you-- [cuts himself off] Way to come off as super desperate. Geez.

My point of reference: every fucking adolescent boy has had this cringing conversation with themselves in front of a mirror when they are into a lady. This is my favorite quote of the night because I imagined myself doing it, which also makes it my least-favorite quote of the night.

What ruled?

The card seemed a little easier to read, which was nice...but...

What sucked?

I am a huge fan of segments (I will typically read segs first and then go back and read matches) and I have to honestly say I'm not huge on board with the reduction, but it is what it is. The fact that the card is a much more manageable read now outweighs this.

Match of the Night:
I dug the Davis vs. Cappy match and the resulting consequences throughout the rest of the night.

Segment of the Night:
The Penn/Dewey joint.

Surprise of the Night:
Nothing stood out to me.

Holy Shit Moment of the Night:
Not so much a "holy shit" moment but the very end of the main event was a great way to cap it off. Looking forward to Dane/Griffith for the PPV.

Babyface of the Night:
Toss-up between Ty Walker and Mary-Lynn Mayweather.

Heel of the Night:
Toss-up between a Cappy/Keeling tandem and Dan Ryan.

MVP of the Night (IC):
I can't pick one character that stood head and shoulders above the rest this week. Everyone was solid.

Best Line of the Night:
YOUR SoHer Champ wins with this throwback to classic SNL:

Frank Holiday:
Pyre, you ignorant slut. As long as you’re counting people who aren’t in the ring, why don’t you include Billy too? How about we count everybody in the arena? Yes, Team Holiday has 4,006 people in it. Jesus Christ, dude. Get back in your corner.

Honorable mentions:
In addition to the Interview Stage reference, Jake made me laugh with this bit of exposition:

[A slight pause, as the Internet-savvy Jed shouts the word DEFIANCE, as he believes that’s how it’s supposed to be said.]

And James wrote Ty Walker's reaction perfectly here:

Tyrone Walker:
Nah, dude, naaaaaaaaah, we ain’t doin’ all’a that “tough loss” bullshit, where you ask me about how that turncoat mothafucka, Sam Turner turnt my ass inside out wit’ a gotdamn lariat… WE AIN’T DOIN’ IT!

Other Comments
I'm OK with the length of the show because everything on there furthered something important heading into the PPV. I'm hoping to see some Noble/Keyes fallout, though, to set up what is supposed to be a PPV match. *hint*cough*BenandCraiggles*cough*hint*

I'm also digging Keyes as a character because he's such an oddball with a hairpin trigger for a temper. Also, selling the BELL CLAP~! in the Team Pyre/Team Holiday match as devastating when Keyes misses and devastating when he hits it was a hell of a lot of fun.

Kelly Evans hasn't been seen in a few shows and there's been no IC explanation that I can recall. Hoping this is eventually addressed.

I writed dis.

I’d been looking forward to this segment for a long time and it turned out exactly as I’d hoped it to. It might have run a bit long, but I wanted to give the start, middle, and end of it the right amount of love and didn’t want any of it to feel rushed or stunted.

Tony Davis vs. Capital Punishment
The rundown is obviously missing, but then that’s not a problem with the opening going on for as long as it did. You wouldn’t expect a rundown of what’s to come when the show started 20 minutes before, would you?

A decent match that definitely felt different with the addition of Team VIAGRA and HOSS at ringside chopping in with comments every now and then. Definitely set this match apart from just another singles match between feuding trios.

One thing though, I thought the Announce table was at the top of the ramp in the new Wrestleplex, ala WCW, not down at ringside ala WWE. Harmen should have had a hard time hearing Angus’ comments with that layout.

Til The Truth Starts Fallin’ Out
Length is fine, no problems with that.

I don’t know if people normally associate colors to feelings, but I’m imagining DEFIANCE as being pretty grey right now. Remember how WWF showing in 1995 used to be all blue? Then ‘96 hit and everything got black real quick? That’s how I imagine DEF right now. Usually it’s Red and light, but now it’s gritty, it’s hard, and it’s soul sucking for everyone that isn’t a blood Diamond.

That feeling is conveyed in this seg simply by having Dusty rifle through his bag with no real purpose and that’s damn good.

Whitewood’s Web
Jed’s a weird one.

Wrestling, as we all know, is about getting over. It’s about getting that crowd reaction, and it’s about having people react to you the way they’re supposed to. Thing is, Jed’s being written to have absolutely no reaction.

Now, in TNA or WWE this would be a death sentence… unless you’re in Vinny Mac’s favor that is. But still, it’s weird to see it in efedding, because we control how much the crowd react to our characters.

It’s novel, no doubt about it, but it can’t last forever.

Impromptu Match
The change in STJ, or STT’s name is perfect. It’s just what he’s needed. The slow burn turn needed the makeover to really complete it, and the finish was exactly what should have happened as well with him picking up the pin. It solidifies that the turn is working and that’s ultimately where things should be heading. There’s literally no point in having Sam’s team lose the match when he’s been lured over to the dark side with the promise of wins.

Wrong Place, Wrong Time
Who’d have thunk it? David Noble has pockets full of spaghetti.

Totally agreed with James in the hope that the drama between MLM and Noble turns into something on the show rather than just being drama because drama.

HOSS being HOSS = good.

Yeah, I purposely didn’t call it HOSSOME just to fuck wit’ye.

Eric Dane vs. Frank Dylan James
So the reason this is short is obvious, but it’s far from bad. I’m just glad it wasn’t dropped.

Curtis Penn and Eugene Dewey: Executive Decision Stipulation
Jon and I got this done.

I’m really happy with this segment. Penn is such a fun character to write dialogue with. Hell, he’s awesome to write a monologue for as well. He just lends himself to everything. You can buy him as super cereal and you can buy him as goofy. He just works in all situations.

You Disappoint Me
I like it when IRL things are tied in, and I like the line where Ryan tells Troy that taking the fall wasn’t what he had in mind.

I never doubted you, Brunk. Know that.

FDJ/Dusty Seg
Defiance must be on it’s head if Frank Dylan James is the voice of reason. Something’s fucky.

Team Holiday vs. Team Pyre
You know what i’m a fan of? This.

Getting people from many feuds together into one match to cut down on the needless fluff that fills our usual shows. There’s 2 or 3 feuds going on here and they all get on the show without filling it with needless matches or segments.

That and the match was damn good as well.

Rank Up Your Game Son

Eugene Dewey & Dusty Griffith vs. Jonny Booya & Dan Ryan
Mine.

I hope everyone is happy with it. I’m not overly, but that’s because I rushed it.

After show thoughts:
I like this. It’s taken me a while to sit down and read the show, but the length of it is fine in my book. Every week doesn’t need to be a masterpiece of epic proportions, but things moved on without there being any filler. This is what we should be aiming for.

Justin said it best at one point, 1 match and 1 segment should be all everyone needs to get over. Sometimes not even that much.

Going forward I think we could all benefit from condensing our matches into tag team bouts or into triple threats with a run in or something along those lines. Mix things up, get crossovers going, do more with less.

Leave us wanting another segment rather than throwing 3 a show at us.

I’m going to be getting stuck back into DEF after this weekend, and I want to get some planning done. Jeff, James, Lindz, Evan, Lee, Brunk, Seth, and anyone else involved at the top going forwards, let’s get shit done way ahead of time. Let’s carve a story that we can tell in the best way possible without any hassle or mess.

I'll comment at some point about things I liked (mostly everything), but just figured I'd clarify. Harmen was wearing an earpiece, designed to pipe in the audio from the commentator's booth into his ear. He didn't hear them from ringside, he heard them from their positions by the ramp. It's like how Jack Bauer hears Chloe in his ear when he's twenty miles away from her.

At Full Strength - Great opening. I have really enjoyed the LBC + BDH feud throughout this arc. After a few weeks of LBC really taking it to BDH, it looked like they would do it again, but BDH took it back to them while leaving a little bit for what I assume is a match at ED. The writing here has been so solid. For me, I know Troy/Rayne/Wade characters a lot, so in my eyes LBC has done a great job of taking it to them. Awesome way to start off the show.

Davis vs. Capital Punishment - A great opening match as well! Well written and hilarious throughout. This is another one of my favorite feuds heading into ED. The animosity between the two teams has been tight. I think if there is any team that can take out Team HOSS, it is VIAGRA, and they have made that nice and clear throughout the arc. I can’t count the number of times I laughed during this match. Great job!

Till The Truth Starts Fallin’ Out - Nice and sweet and to the point. Nice build towards the match and the overall main feud tonight.

Whitewood’s Web - Nice build for Whitehood/Mushi at ED. Everything so far this show has been building to the PPV, which is what should be happening. Pulling out Teddy Ruxpin was great.

Impromptu Match - Really fun match through and through. The turn by STJ I feel has been really understated. I think it is more of a game changer then has been recognized to date and it should be interesting to see where it goes from here. Shocked by Skybreakers/Sons of the Soil at ED as I really thought we would see something else with Blood Diamonds.

Wrong Place, Wrong Time - Always a blast writing with Seth and Ford! I’ve seen in the comments that it felt like MLM/Noble needs to add something to the show. It will, definitely. Just setting the groundwork :) If there wasn’t something wrestling related with this seg, it would have gone somewhere else.

Eric Dane vs. Frank Dylan James - Short match and to the point. With Dane marching towards a title match at ED (I really thought we were going to see Dan Ryan. Hm.), good match for him to pick up and a blow to Dusty.

Curtis Penn and Eugene Dewey: ED Stipulation - I think this segment was really powerful. The buildup between Penn/Dewey has been solid throughout the arc and I think it has been buried a bit with some of the other feuds happening. But this one really hit home and I think really built up the importance of this match. Well done to all.

You Disappoint Me - Wow. That was brutal all around (in a good way). Like I said earlier, it seemed that it was building up to Dusty/Ryan, but it looks like Ryan/Troy will be happening at some point. Wonder if we are going to see more sadistic Ryan.

One Helluva Conversation - I really liked this seg. That’s all I really have to say. I liked it.

Team Holiday vs. Team Pyre - Had a blast writing this with, well, everyone involved!

Rank up your game son - FDJ vs. Booya. Sweet.

Dewey/Griffith vs. Booya/Ryan - Nice ending to it all. Sets up the main for ED very well with a great match that packed a lot into it.

Overall, great, great show! Nice and quick read, which I think slimming things down had a point. Let’s do ED and let’s do it right!

Match of the Night:
Team Pyre v Team Holiday for all the awesome reasons that have been given.

Segment of the Night:
Even though I had a hand in writing this segment I’d have to say the Eugene and Penn segment. It was very fun to actually trash talk. Damien has been one of the best arc partners to work with. He’s always on time and puts out work like people wouldn’t believe.

Surprise of the Night:
I didn’t really see anything that stood out.

Holy Shit Moment of the Night:
STJ’s turn was expected due to the prior segments from past shows, but him actually turning was what makes this the HSMotN.

Babyface of the Night:
Eugene…but he’s the face of the night everynight.

Heel of the Night:
I’m giving this to Chris for the STJ turn, welcome to the Dark Side of the Force.

MVP of the Night (IC):
I’m going Euge for this, Damien has been solid with this character for so long I think he gets over looked every now and again.

Match of the Night:
Team Pyre vs Team Holiday, seriously what wasn’t good about that match?

Segment of the Night:
Dewey/Penn

Surprise of the Night:
Rich pinning Pyre to end the match.

Holy Shit Moment of the Night:
IDK if I ready anything majorly exsplosive.

Babyface of the Night:
Eugene Dewey, as always he’s a solid baby each and every show he’s on.

Heel of the Night:
Dan Ryan

MVP of the Night (IC):
Prolly Lindsey Troy, BDH/LBC then being a part of Team Frankie Holiday.

Best Line of the Night:
Tyrone Walker:
Nah, dude, naaaaaaaaah, we ain’t doin’ all’a that “tough loss” bullshit, where you ask me about how that turncoat mothafucka, Sam Turner turnt my ass inside out wit’ a gotdamn lariat… WE AIN’T DOIN’ IT!
