Delusions of Granduer

[Armen]

(Scene opens in a small park late at night. The area is lit up but a nearby lamp post and the stars in the clear sky up above. The air is crisp and refreshing, the perfect temperature for late at night. In the center of the picture is a small park bench. Armen sits on the bench, looking in to the sky.)

Armen: "They say you can find any shape if you look hard enough. The stars that is, Kate. Do you think if you looked hard enough you could find forgiveness?"

(Armen turns his attention to the camera)

Armen: "I apologize, Kate. I should never have left without you. You have to know that I needed out of there. Angelus has planted so many ideas in my head, so many goals and targets.. so many of his ideals exist in my head I don't even know what's mine anymore. When I went out to fight a match it wasn't ExE fighting. It was Angelus, MA. When I won a match.. it was MA's victory.. but when I lost it was me letting MA down. So I apologize.."

(Armen's expression changes from forgiveness to controlled anger)

Armen: "But you Angelus, you can never be forgiven. You did this to me. Always taking me off to the side and planting my head with ideas of grandure. Telling me to take out this person, disable that one. Always telling me I'm not my self only a part of a greater group. Well let me tell you something Angelus this is America and you can take your commy ideas and shove em. You can't control me Angelus, you never could. Before Sarah's accident you had no power over me. When I needed you as a friend the most there you were forcing these ideas in my head. I'll admit in my fragile state your ideas seemed logical and even seemed to be the right answer but before hand, you never had control over anything."

(Armen stands from the bench taking a moment to stretch)

Armen: "Do you remember the Mechanical Animals back when John Styles joined us? Do you remember those days Angelus? Cause I sure do. I remember one match... where Mercenary called you the 'leader of the Mechanical Animals' when you had clearly told Styles and I there was no leader. After you didn't deny the allegations, I spoke up. Sephiroth of course sided with you.. and Styles with myself. You knew there was no real leader of MA but you didn't want to give up everyone's delusions that you were a figure of power. Well we of course became the laughing stock of the company.. a single stable split in to two tag teams disputing wether there was a leader or not. The way it ended.. was you admitting there was no leader. Now over the years everyone of course has declared you the leader but let's face facts Angelus. Your nothing. You were just another MA chump. All this buisness of 'commanding' us is unproven complete fiction."

Armen: "Ahh, I seem to recall another instance Angelus.. one that shows just how 'powerful' you were. Do you remember when we expanded MA not too long ago? Brought aboard Reaver, the Mavericks, and Eric Gibson? Yeah, you remember. You kept telling me over and over again we should drop them because they were dead weight.. but I told you to have faith.. and you said okay.. we'll wait. It seems to me that a faciast dictator such as yourself would have the ultimate word and if you wanted them gone.. it would have been so. That wasn't the case. My point is Angelus that you are living in a dream world. All this control crap you talk about is something you've dreamt up."

(Armen stops and takes a deep breath, exhalling slowly)

Armen: "As for you Roberts I have nothing against you. When I decided to make my move against Angelus, I sat watching the monitors. There I saw you.. beating Jessica over the head with the belt over and over. Hitting a woman, over and over. That was very pathetic of you Roberts. Thats something Angelus would do. So yeah, I came out there and I took you down and I'll do it again."

Armen: "Angelus.. let me explain to you why I left the Mechanical Animals. When I left our Genocide match I met a small kid outside the arena. He couldn't have been older than 8 maybe 9 years. When I asked him if he liked my match he said no. When I asked why he told me it was because the Mechanical Animals sucked and you Angelus "sucked". I started thinking that kid was right. That's why Angelus. Because MA was nothing, and you are nothing."

The Patient

[updated:LAST EDITED ON Feb-02-02 AT 02:18 AM (EST)](Camera fades in on the Dumont Mansion. It pans the premises before cutting through the home and into the backyard. It's night out and dawn is mere minutes away. Paul sits in a chair stairing out waiting for the sun to rise. As he does he begins speaking as he continues to watch off in the distance.)

Paul: You know Armen, I sit and I listen to you sit and deny my control. You sit there and claim that I'm living in a dream world. You need to think though Armen. You see everything I ever said was towards my ultimate goal, to have MA follow me. The only other person to share my vision was Sephiroth...I thought you would share it but I can see I was mistaken. You see Armen, I was out for myself. However, when I prospered we all prospered. MA wasn't a stable, as you call it. It was a brotherhood. We were all bound together. We still are. You just don't realize it. Think about it, if I didn't control everyone in MA how did I convince you to join the fight for EWI? How did I convince you to attack every single person I told you to? Do not sit and use your dead woman as an excuse. You were doing what I said long before that, you just didn't realize it.

You see, the trick to gaining a loyal following is to make everyone believe it's equal. To make everyone believe their just as important as everyone else. That's what I did. When I asked your opinion on firing Reaver and his crew it was simply to gain an excuse. You see, if him and his friends messed up it became your fault.

(Paul laughs.)

All I had to say was that I warned you it would happen. I merely covered my a**. I figured you would have realized that. Obviously not. You ask if I'm a commy, was Jesus Christ a commy? He had a following of people who would do anything he said. Just like I had within MA. Believe it or not, like Christ, I tried to save you. I tried to save you all. I tried to give your lives purpose and meaning. In a place where you were all hated I accpeted you. Then you all turn on me. I was crucified for trying to make this fed a better place. Had you stuck with me we would have completely taken this place over by now. But alas, you and Reaver, and all the rest abandoned me. That is why I compared you to Judas earlier, you are my Judas.

(Paul then stands and begins pacing the yard, he now looks into the camera.)

What noone seems to understand is that my way was the right way. Imagine it, EWI could've been ours. There would be no GXW. No pathetic merger with NthWA. Speaking of which, to clear things up, the reason I said we join the fight to stop SSN was simple. I couldn't allow them to take over. You see if they took over I couldn't take over. That's done now though. Our chance is gone. My vision is now nothing more than a fading memory.

You see, not only did you abandon me in MA you abandonded me again at X-Perience. You made your little heroic stand and clocked me with a pipe and now you say you tried to help Jessica. You may have tried but you were to late. Jessica represented the only good things left in this place...the only good things left in me.... and you allowed her to be put into the hospital by Roberts! A man who will pay a higher price than even you will pay...

(As Paul walks Kate approaches from the mansion and interrupts.)

Kate: May I say something to Armen?

Paul: Ofcourse.

Kate: Armen, whatever's wrong you need to come back. I realize your going through some things but we need to talk.

(Paul paces around Kate with a questioning look.)

Paul: I take it you didn't see the little message he just sent out?

Kate: No, what did he say?

Paul: Oh, I'm sorry. He said he didn't love you my dear.

Kate: What?

Paul: Yes, he said something about you being nothing more than a temporary substitute for his dead fiancee.

Kate: I don't believe that....

Paul: *laughing* I didn't ask if you believed it.

Kate: What are you talking about?

(Paul walks behind Kate and leans his head on her shoulder.)

Paul: You see Armen, I have something you don't. Leverage. We all know you would never hurt a woman. I on the other hand am not so kind. You see the only woman that means a damn to me as Jessica. The rest I feel nothing for.

Kate: Angelus what's going on!?

(Paul grabs Kate by the hair.)

Paul: Don't call me that!

(Paul moves up close to the camera dragging Kate by the hair with him.)

Paul: You see Armen, I will have control over you one way or another! You are bound to me! That means what belongs to you belongs to me!

(Paul pushes Kate to the ground hard.)

Paul: I suggest you be careful my friend! I wouldn't want to mess up your little girlfriend! Now, keep in mind before you try anything, whatever you do to me shall be revisted upon her head! MA may be dead but I shall resurrect it and you will help! You will do as I say when I say!

(Paul quickly shifts from angry to calm and grabs a weeping Kate by the arm jerking her back up.)

Paul: Now, Armen, it's time to choose...

(Paul looks at Kate.)

Paul: Now we'll see what's more important to Armen. Protecting you or getting even with me. This would be so much simpler if Armen could except the fact that MA's bigger than all of us. It wasn't and idea or a mere group. It was a living, breathing, and angry demon. I was it's master.....

Kate: What is wrong with you!? MA was nothing more some stupid group you made up to make yourself seem important. You basically said so yourself!

(Paul grabs Kate by the throat. He get's a tense and angry look on his face. Kate suddenly freezes. Paul stares at Kate for a moment as the sun begins to rise slowly, Paul faces the camera. He's now very calm.)

Paul: You have your options Armen serve me and spare Kate or deny me and try to take Kate back the hard way. I assure you, the latter wouldn't be very wise. That's all....for now.

(Camera abruptly cuts.)

RE: The Patient

Armen pulls up in his black Honda S2000 and before it even comes to a complete stop he opens the door and jumps out. He breaks in to a sprint throwing open the doors to the office building with the camera crew in tow. He charges in to the first room.)

Armen: "Paul! Where's Paul?"

Woman: "He might be in his office.."

(Armen runs over hitting the elevator button. After several seconds he gives up and starts running up the steps. The camera crew follows him up the steps. After a few floors Armen throws open another door coming out on the UWC Enterprises "executive floor". He walks along sometimes breaking in to a short jog passing his own office and walking in to Paul's reception area)

Secretary: "Uhh.. Armen, sir..he's not in there."

(Armen walks in anyway and after discovering Angelus gone he turns to the camera)

Armen: "Dumont, you've crossed the line my friend. You sit here and bitch at Roberts telling him that he's going to feel pain for hurting Jessica? Then turn around and threaten to hurt Kate? No. That isn't going to happen. I've always gone under the policy that nothing in wrestling should ever be 'truly' personal. but you.. you've made this beyond personal. Yes I left you, abandon you if you may but you've taken the only other person besides MA that's ever mattered to me and threatened her with physical harm?"

(Armen picks up a stack of papers and throws them in frustration. They scatter across the room making a large mess.)

Armen: "Paul you've always been about threatening people with pain but if you harm Kate, I will introduce you to a new word. Agony. I'm warning you Angelus don't do something you'll regret. Let Kate go.. this doesn't need to be a personal thing. If you make it personal I guarentee that you will regret it."

(Armen storms off as the scene fades out)

Mantra

[updated:LAST EDITED ON Feb-03-02 AT 01:20 AM (EST)](Camera fades in on a old house in an undisclosed location. It's night out and rain can be heard falling hard outside as thunder crashes. The camera pans through the old rundown house as water drips from the holes in the roof. As the camera approaches the middle of the house Paul can be seen standing beside Kate. Kate's currently got her arms tied over her head from a rope hanging from a rafter on the ceiling. There's also a large whole in the middle of the roof. Kate's crying as rain falls down on the two. Paul begins to calmly speak.)

Paul: So Armen, I see you've chosen to do things the hard way. I gave you a choice and you chose to hunt for me rather than join me. All I have to say is that I warned you. Whatever happens to Kate will be on your head. You see, one way or another I...no we will breathe life back into MA. If I have to harm Kate to convince you of that then I will. You asked me if I was going to attack Roberts for hurting Jessica then turn around and hurt Kate, the simple answer is yes. Despite your remarks about not letting it happen. You must realize that this has to be done.....I must resurrect MA!

(Paul becomes visibly angry.)

Paul: This isn't something I or you have a choice in! Look around, look at this hell hole we're working in! We sit and play our parts and do our jobs while all the a** kissers and the lap dogs of the bosses prosper! What do we get Armen!? What!? The answer is nothing! For all our hard work all we get in return is disrespect from everyone!

(Paul begins to calm down as he bows his head.)

Paul: You see, I ran all this past Jessica before X-Perience. I told her I felt MA should be reborn. She told me that it should be left alone, that we should try to assmiliate ourselves into the federation. We should try to get along with everyone instead of attempting to destroy and irradicate them. I listened to her like a fool. What did that accomplish? All it did was get her head busted open....all it did was get her put in a state of comatose by Roberts. So you sit and question why all this is necessary. The reason is simple, someone needs to purge GXW of the waste it holds. Someone has to set things right. Someone has to stand up. That someone is us, you and me. The spirit that is MA is forever inbedded in us both. You may deny it, you may wish it wasn't true, but you will eventually wake up and realize everything I'm doing is for the best.

(Paul walks over infront of Kate and stares at her.)

He had the choice Kate. All he had to do was accept my offer. All he had to do was join with me.....but no! He chose to abandon me yet again and in doing so he abandoned you! Keep in mind that, while you cry out in pain, he could have saved you! He could have protected you! Realize that he has forsaken us both!

(Paul calms himself and brings his face inches from Kate's.)

Do not fret though. Despite the fact that I must harm you, I will never abandon you. No matter how much you wish and pray that I would. I will always be there...

(The camera goes staticy before fading to black.)
