And so we begin...
[Fade in:
A high rise apartment in New York City. This is the home of "Your Hero" Sebastian Dodd. We find ourselves today in the living room. It's modestly furnished, featuring the notable items one would find in a living room, sofa, chairs, loveseat, coffee table, television, you know the drill. Dodd himself is kicking back, on the sofa, with his feet on the coffee table. For some reason, perhaps a Stevie Wonder fascination, Dodd has sunglasses on indoors, to compliment his black jeans, and black Sebastian Dodd "Your Hero...Your Idol...you know the rest" T-shirt.
He remains in this position, facing towards the camera, eyes hidden by the glasses...and then...]
"Yep...this is the place, the house that Dodd built. It'd be real easy for me to say that I'm going to show up here in Empire Pro and blow the doors off in my big Pay-Per-View debut. It'd be real easy for me to come out here and say that I'm going to show the world why Sebastian Dodd's nickname is in fact the truth."
"So yeah, that's exactly what I'm going to do."
"I'm not going to say that I'm going to tap out Kincaid in four minutes and show the world that "Your Hero" is for real...but I am going to say that I am going to come out there and flat out outwrestle my opponent and take home a victory. I'm confident in my ability to walk into any company in the world, at any time and go toe to toe with the best it has to offer. And there's a reason for that. It's a simple word that I have more of than any other human being on the planet."
"It's not will."
"It's not strength."
"It's not speed."
"It's talent. The S to the D can bring it better than anyone in the world, I'm not going to fly higher than the high fliers, and I might not necessarily technically overshadow a shooter. But the whole package, the whole ball of wax, Sebastian Dodd brings more to the table than anyone else on the planet."
[Dodd knocks his feet off of the table, leans forward and rips off the sunglasses.]
"I could tell you that I've done a ton of homework about Braden. I could tell you that I've had the privledge of watching his matches, of studying his every move. But I'm not a liar. I could tell you that I know his tendencies, I know what he's going to do, I know what he's thinking before he does..."
"But if I've learned one thing over my years in this business, it's that you never, EVER, overplay your hand. I don't EVER want to think that I know what my opponent is going to do, because when you do...that's when you get caught. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction...and that's what I do, I react. And that's what I'm going to do in my debut, that's what I'm going to do every match, week in, week out."
"This week it's against another newcomer, another most likely extraordinary wrestler in their debut. I could make a thousand and one Michael Jackson references over his nickname, but I'm not going to do that, it's pointless. What I'm going to do is come out here on YOUR television screen and explain to you why Sebastian Dodd is the guy who's going to win this thing."
"I guess it'd be simple to just flat out say that I'm the better wrestler, and in reality, I think I am, I know in my heart, and in my head that I am. But at this point, clean slate vs. clean slate, it's all idle chatter. I'd love to say that I've got some score to settle with good ol' Braden Kincaid. But I don't. The main thing that I can say is that I'm going to win this match for one reason, and one reason only...because it's the only option. I need to come in here and get off to a hot start, I need to put my name, my face, my finisher, my everything on the Empire Pro map. And as cliched as it might be...you only get one chance to make a first impression. So Kincaid, it isn't personal, you just happened to debut in the wrong match. You're in my way, plain and simple. There's no way that I'm going to let The Thriller knock off Your Hero...not on day one, not on day two, and if we happen to meet sometime down the road, not then either...because the fact of the matter is that I call myself "Your Hero" for a reason...it's not a name, it's a way of life."
"Welcome to the show baby, and the fact is, I've got news for you Braden...you're going to be in the best match on this whole card. We're going to open up Unleashed and tear the house down. And Thriller, I've got even better news for you, you don't even have to be at your best...because Seb Dodd's gonna carry you kicking and screaming to five stars if he has to, they could have lined me up for the big show with a mop, and I'd have made it look like a star, because "Your Hero" gives the people what they want, they want to see a show, and Thriller, we're gonna give it to them. They don't have a whole lot to live for, they don't have a whole lot to get excited about, they don't have a real reason to wake up beyond the show at the Georgie Dome...hell, half of them are probably going to have the best day of their lives at Unleashed, it'll be the high point of their life...and we're going to be the best part of that show."
"You can thank me later for that. But I'll give you the you're welcome now."
"The Georgia Dome is gonna rock, and you can bask in the glow of it Kincaid, because even though the match is going to end with your shoulders on the mat, or your hand hitting it three times to tap out...it's going to be the high point of YOUR career too. And kid...you'll NEVER be this high again. But hell...at least you'll have something to tell the grandkids..."I wrestled Sebastian Dodd in his debut. I was the guy who started the win streak, I was the guy who he steamrolled past first on his way to the top of Empire Pro...". They might call you a liar, but you'll always have the tape to prove that you were the guy who dropped first..."
"And for that Braden...*I* want to thank YOU."
[Fade.]
