The past five days brought about some unexpected changes, and with those changes came some expected concerns from the roster at-large about the stability of DEFIANCE and if there would be more fallout. It’s a testament to the people here that DEF’s solid foundation remains sturdy. We’re looking ahead to the biggest arc of the fed’s calendar year and it’s because of all of you that we’re able to do that.

In the DEFCON IN/OUT thread, we wrote that Brunk and I would be taking point on running the show for this arc. This is only partially correct today. We, along with Justin, agreed that expanding this number is the best way to move forward in the day-to-day running of the fed. It’s our hope that this will open up greater opportunities for staff accountability and collaboration while reducing the risk of burnout, fatigue, or boredom.

To that end, Evan and Murrr will be taking greater roles in helping out in a staff capacity. Additionally, Pete has generously offered to be DEFIANCE’s show proofreader, which is a critical part of the show production process that does not always get the attention it needs.

Now it’s time to keep this train rolling and not let anyone’s momentum suffer any longer. It’s Monday (in the U.S. anyway!), the “free weekend” is over, and its back to business as usual.

CLASH OF THE DEFIANTS has been posted: be sure to check it out and leave feedback. Feedback isn’t just appreciated by everyone in the fed; it’s noticed by staff when it comes to judging your overall contribution. Remember that.

UNCUT 6 is in production with a deadline of Sunday, 22nd May @ 11:59pm PST. Expect it to be posted on Monday morning. This is the perfect place to cover the fallout from CLASH and preview the forthcoming arc.

Starting this evening, staff will be looking at rebooking certain parts of the DEFCON arc to compensate for any roster losses. If you’re stuck without a feud partner because of all this, we’ve got your back. If both you and your feud partner are still here (and that’s most of you), you’re good to go.

We aim to wrap any rebooking up within the next couple of days, because...

DEFtv 65 deadline: Sunday, May 29th @ 11:59pm PST.

That’s a little under two weeks to get everything completed for the first “big” TV show of the arc.

The relevant forum posts will soon be updated with remaining deadlines accordingly. For now, we thank you for your patience over this tricky weekend and look forward to reading your awesome work throughout the DEFCON arc.

Making small talk whilst standing back, watching mom pull the runsheet for DEFtv together like a fuckin’ boss. I recounted the fact Jon (Curtis Penn) was the very first person I ever feuded with… like ever. Way back in the original NeWA in like ‘99, ‘00 in a member fed called HCWF. Mike Sloan was the HCWF TV champ and was kind enough to feud with God help me, but… Violent E. Anyway. It got me thinking about this “game” just in general. Felt inspired to just get words onto paper and shake some of the wiggles I accumulated with the last couple days "events."

I was awful and stayed awful for probably 85% of my time handling in the enormous “NeWA / WfWA-verse” that spawned most of DEF’s roster over the years in terms of both handlers AND characters. As WfWA finally started truly started it’s slow spiral down the drain of ewrasslin’ history I was pretty much done. I enjoyed but ultimately sucked at this hobby, now it was ending. Justin, as he was want to do every now and again back in his younger days, had a huge hardon to start a new EFAD. He, Steve and James were always really cool to me regardless of my off and on, hot and cold, somewhat jobbery status both in and out of character. So I was one of the people he approached when he was seeing who might interested in joining this EFAD he had bubbling in the back of his mind. I’m paraphrasing here...

“Don’t join with that gay fucking character you’ve always used. Come up with something new.”

DEF’s RP years, the time I got to spent really digging in and being creative and cobbling together Box, that was my first and only “great” run as a roleplayer in this game. The real competition I got to experience writing against Jeff, Renee, Steve, William, Lee, Kevin, George, Damien, Chris, Jon, the list goes on and on… I know 90% of those names are sadly curse words now, but that’s the roster from this period, and just because flame outs happened... that shit was just goddamn fun, and it’s all’s I got as far as a “RP pedigree” so... whatever, anyway. It hurts my soul this was all lost to the mysterious internet dune desert along with the rest of the old old website. Goddamn shame. I’d love to go back and re-read the whole Bronson Box / Boston Bancroft angle… I GOT TO KIDNAP A KID! :D

The slow clumsy transition into a full angled fed sadly encompass most of DEF’s existence. We all realized pretty quick full RP just isn’t sustainable… and it’s just not fun. We wanted to tell cool stories with a beginning middle and end, not “play fight.” It took a lot of arguments, a few "versions" of DEF, a few lost roster members... more arguing. In between the arguing we wrote some really incredible fuckin' wrestle fightin’... so many stables, so much creativity, awesome angles. Honestly. The width and breadth of characters and stories our roster’s seen and told since our transition from the old site is startling. Sort of like… look at all the stuff we did. The better part of a decade filled with creative… stuff. Regardless of hurt feelings of where all these people are or how we feel about them now. I still count every bit of this as time well spent. Even tonight doing what I can to help get shit organized for the run up to DEFCON.

I know a lot of history happened before the Grindhouse shows and the birth of Wrestle-Plex but that period… THIS period has been the most goddamn fun I’ve ever had ewrestling, bar none. Especially now with the influx of killer, off the charts creative types we were blessed with from UTA’s… well, let's say hiatus I guess. After all the real life business this fed’s dealt with the last week I just wanted to like… I don’t know, write some of this shit down. Writing stuff down is healthy, this is something I’ve believed for years and confirmed with a mental health professional recently. Whether it’s... heh, just recounting your real life exploits with a REALLY strange niche hobby for no real reason other than to "hear" yourself talk… or “battle writing” on the internet for the better part of 20 years. It’s why I’ve never really left I guess? This game has meant a lot to me when I really needed a place to put a lot of emotional STUFF the last number of years.

So... tl;dnr

I goddamn love this damn game. Slash I really really truly dig a vast majority of you people.

Slash, this DEFCON arc is going to fuckin' rule, y'all. I feel it in my bones.

Move along now. Nothing to see here. It's late, I'm intoxicated, I get emotional, hence the therapist... Move along now, lets go...

Just FYI everyone: it's important to put your segs and matches in the proper template form when you're doing your arc planning doc. It makes life a heck of a lot easier when all staff has to do is copy and paste from your booking docs instead of having to physically type in the information ourselves based on notes/brainstorming ideas. Thanks!

I 2nd this. I recently discussed this with Murrrrphisto but after what was the disaster of a closing in UTAH. and then that sip of coffee in Broadwalk. I didnt know if I was going to find my groove again. Since coming to DEF and for the first time in my life being in an angle fed, I have had so much fucking fun. By far DEFIANCE has been the single greatest writing experience Ive ever had entertainment wise. Im still yet to top my Mikey/Haynes feud from OLD.T.A. but just having a place to tell a story, and having great writers surrounding me has been amazing. You guys havent even realized how big a douche I am yet! Its trully a great place to be :)

I was sad to see people go too, and I was sad to see friends leave. But im loving DEF in every single way. The writing, the people, the competition, errrrrthing. Its incredible. (now quit asking me if Im leaving)
