Re: Before the Press

The Sylo press conference: 6:10AM EST.

A man in a nice three piece suit stood in front of a podium. His salt and pepper hair was perfectly placed and his steel grey eyes scanned the press in front of him. He straightened his tie before looking down at documents in front of him.

“Members of various press, thank you for coming. We’d like to thank ESEN and its subsidiary companies for broadcasting this press conference. We understand there is a lot going on in the wrestling world so we understand your time is precious. We will allow Mr. Sylo to speak and then follow with a brief Q&A which should conclude the conference. Also, we would like to extend our thanks to everyone coming so early. Without further delay, please welcome Sylo.” The gentleman stepped down as there was applause.

Sylo’s giant 7’0” frame took over standing high over the podium. He had no notes in front of him as he casually leaned one arm on the podium.

“So I suppose with everything going on we should get the ball rolling. First off, it sickens me that Marcus Davis had to send lackeys to do his own press conference. Secondly, it sickens me that Marcus Davis is too afraid to step into an octagon with me. He’d rather do this in a wrestling ring? Yeah, that’s smart, let’s do this in a wrestling ring, under a banner you carry, with your people. I issue a challenge and in response all I get is side stepping and counter offers.”

Sylo stopped a moment, cleared his throat, and continued.

“Simply put, Marcus Davis is a coward. Now, you can call that slander but I call it the truth. This started with Davis said my name, he said he’d love to face and defeat me, that’s not respect. It’s not respect wanting to defeat someone, that’s called furthering your career, and to do so you need well established legends to do so. I could speak on my legacy but we’d be here the rest of the week, what it boils down to is Marcus Davis wanted to face me for him, not out of respect, and if Marcus Davis was as smart as he claims he’d have known about what I do and how I go about things. Not only that, I’ve single-handedly brought more exposure to the UltraTitle, Marcus Davis, and various other projects. As far as Marcus’ counter offer? I suggest he sweeten the pot, otherwise, I view him as the over-hyped ***** he’s always been.” Sylo snarled a little on the last line.

“If Mr. Davis wants to face me and end this he’ll make it worth my time. It isn’t about money, it isn’t about press, it’s about two men who don’t like each other. Now, make me want to kick your teeth out in a public forum, my idea involved two men fighting out their problems like new age gladiators, all proceeds going to charity. Your counter offer is me taking a title I don’t care about in a federation I don’t care about and earning money that, I yet again, don’t care about. Questions?”

There was a clatter among the press. Sylo pointed to one of the gentleman in the third row.

“Yes, Robert Nix, WrestlingRing.com, if you two are to agree on terms, are you both contractually free to do so?”

“Personally, I can’t speak for Mr. Davis., as for myself I do have contracts in order that as of right now I cannot speak of. I can tell you that none of them keep me from seeking outside activities as long as it doesn’t interfere with anything I’m contractually obligated to fulfill.” Sylo looked to the next person.

“Yes, Sandy Kern, WrestlingInquire.com, would you be allowed to use the Sylo persona and Superbeast logo?” She asked, putting her pen closer to the paper.

“There is no such thing as the “Sylo persona”, what you see is what you get. As far as the Superbeast name and logo that belongs to me. I own the name and all intellectual property. So, no, I’ll be there as me.”

Another gentleman stood up.

“Yes, do you think we’ll see any legal ramifications from all of this? Also, does this take your focus away from the UltraTitle at all?”

Sylo took a drink of water before replacing the cap.

“As far as my camp goes? No. There will be no legal ramifications from my end. As far as focus, my focus is always on. I train every other day, 8 hours a day, the rest of the week is spent training in other aspects. When the bell rings my focus is where it belongs. I think I’ve proven that. In closing, if Marcus Davis wishes, I’m more than happy to sign an agreement for a sit down to negotiate. Otherwise, we can continue this merry-go-round. I got Davis’ attention, I got him worked up whether he’ll admit it or not, and now it’s time to move forward. Thank you for your time.”

Sylo stepped off the podium as everyone clamored for more questions. Sylo stepped off the stage and to the back, officially ending the press conference.

Stage of Immortals

We cut live to the ESEN program Stage of Immortals with hosts’ independent wrestlers “Pure Silk” Hannah Tyler and “Booty Queen” Amber Royal who sit in studio with smiles on their faces.

Amber: Well the last segment was quite interesting…Now we’re joined by…

Marcus Davis appears in split screen sitting inside of a hotel.

Amber: “The Dream” Marcus Davis who is about to have a very important UltraTitle Tournament match against Joey Melton, which I know that you have trained very hard for. But, early this morning..Sylo held a press conference. Where you able to see it?

Marcus: Not live, but I did watch it about an hour ago, nice to speak to the two of you again as well.

Hannah: Nice to talk to you again sweet heart, wish it was under better circumstances. We should get right down to it, what are your thoughts on the Press Conference?

Marcus smirks.

Marcus: I’ll give him credit, his persistent and has the ability to speak out of both sides of his mouth. To be honest, there’s not much to say, he clearly lives in his one world where the universe revolves around him.

Amber: How do you respond to his comments about the BHC?

Marcus: He just shows how clueless he is, I do not have a contract with the BHC; it’s a championship committee. I am contracted to one of over thirty promotions around the world with an affiliation with the BHC. Although, the NJWF is one of a select few favored promotions, but I have no a contract with the BHC…

Marcus reaches down and holds up the beautiful Silver Gold 22 pound championship with the elaborate horn design, name plate and BHC Lettering. The American, Canadian, Japanese, and Mexican flags are on the belt as well.

Marcus: The BHC was established in 1961…this belt that I hold today was established in 1965 and was held by people of much greater class and talent than Sylo…And currently is as well. So for him to say he has no interest in such a title is quite ignorant. I honestly expect nothing else from him at this point.

Marcus puts the title across his lap.

Amber: Yes, he has made some very interesting statements, especially with his challenge to fight you in an Octagon. What other response do you have to what he said?

Marcus: The fact he calls me a coward is a joke. I’ve been studying martial arts since I was three years old, he decides to make a hobby…yes I called it a hobby out MMA after watching a few United Federation of Mixed Martial Arts and decides he wants to fight in a cage. If I were to ever fight in MMA, it would be inside of a ring..but as I stated many times in the past I have no desire to do so. I definitely won’t be changing my mind because Sylo demands I do so.

It was also news to me that he planned to donate proceeds to charity, as there wasn’t a promotion to sponsor the fight in the contract, and he didn’t say as much in the contract either. He just throws comments like these out to make himself look better. When it really doesn’t…

Hannah: And your thoughts on giving you more media coverage than ever before and you originally wanting to use him as a stepping stone?

Marcus: Yeah he did say that…he also thinks he has gotten under my skin. To be honest…

I don’t care about Sylo, I just don’t.

Hannah: I know how you get when you’re fired up and you’re so focused on the UltraTitle, but you don’t care about Sylo at all?

Marcus: Not at all…to get back to your original question. Who does Sylo really think he is? He’s the one that brags about hurting people and wanting to end careers. I know why I brought up his name, I saw that he has talent in the ring and would present a challenge, I like to be challenged, that’s why I said I’d love the opportunity to defeat him, out of respect.

He can spin that however he wants, I truly do not care. As far as media coverage, I seriously didn’t need Sylo for that. I’ll allow him to feed his own ego, but nothing further needs to be said from me on the issue.

Amber: All of this legal talk is going on are you going to pursue anything?

Marcus: No..there’s no need. He’s not worth the time.

Marcus shrugs his shoulders.

Amber: What about the match for the BHC Heavyweight Championship? I want to see that happen, you’ve got to make him agree to that match my friend!

Marcus laughs slightly.

Marcus: I know the BHC President will be making a statement in Japan later today on the issue, so perhaps he’ll be able to appease Sylo. I just find it funny that he is so quick to want to jump inside of the MMA atmosphere, when it’s well documented all of his fortune can be credited to wrestling. If he’s tired of wrestling he should just retire and spend all of his time and energy on MMA. Wrestling is for those who have the passion and love the business, not for those to milk it for the money.

Amber and Hannah both nod.

Hannah: Could not possibly agree with you more!

Amber: Agreed.

Marcus: Sylo is just stalling for time; he knows I’ll embarrass him in the ring. Just like what’s about to happen to Joey Melton in the UltraTitle, something actually worth speaking about. As of right now, Sylo…Superbeast…The Destroyer…whatever he calls himself…is a waste of my time and energy. He will continue to be so until he decides to step into the ring, until then he can continue to talk about his hobby and how tough he is. I simply…

Don’t Care…

Hannah: Any final comments before we let you go?

Marcus: Just a couple..just like Joey Melton…Sylo you should simply…

Dream…

On…

Loser…

As you will never be as talented as I am and I know that kills you inside. So have fun running your mouth with whatever you have to say, as I will not care unless it’s you accepting my challenge.

Amber: Thank you for joining us Marcus…

Marcus: Take care ladies, have a great day.

Fade.

We open to live NJWF TV coverage, Hatori Kinjo the former 2x BHC Heavyweight Champion, 3x BHC International Champion, former BHC Tag Team Champion, and a number of other titles throughout his career stands outside an office surrounded by half a dozen journalists. We’re cutting live into another program, the once great Puroresu warrior turned BHC President stands firmly.

Hatori: Regarding the talk around the proposed BHC Heavyweight Championship match in Paris, France on July 1[SUP]st[/SUP], the rumors are accurate. We have agreed with the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy arena in Paris in order to host the show, a number of matches for the show will be released in the upcoming weeks…

The committee and myself are well aware of the disrespect Sylo has shown the Burning Honor Committee, the BHC Heavyweight Championship, and our integrity…Instead of pulling the offer we further implore Sylo to take the match. We are willing to offer him seventy thousand dollars, five percent of the Pay-Per-View revenue, and a ten thousand dollar bonus if he is to win the title. He will have the ability to do whatever he wants with the money, whether it is donate the money to charity or use it for his personal use.

In return all that the committee asks is he, along with Marcus submit to the drug testing that every wrestler takes part in when competing on our sanctioned shows, which as most of you know, we put on once every four to five months. If Sylo does accept this match, it will be fought under BHC rules, which he will be briefed on.

Hatori pauses for a moment.

Sylo made it known that he would like to sit down one on one with Marcus Davis; he could have his opportunity if agreeing to this match. On Monday, June 25, 2012 at the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy the BHC will be holding our customary Press Conference prior to our Pay-Per-View shows. We have already made arrangements to give the media thirty minutes to question both Marcus Davis and Sylo together at the end of the proceedings. I personally hope this gives Sylo enough incentive to step into the ring, he has until June 1[SUP]st[/SUP] to give us a proper answer or we will move in other directions. If Marcus Davis is not successful in his upcoming V2 defense, we would still provide this match in Paris.

If Sylo fails to accept, it is likely Marcus Davis will make his V3 defense of the BHC Heavyweight Championship in his home promotion, the NJWF…I have enough time for one question before I must attend a meeting.

The reports scream out until one male’s voice becomes dominant.

Male Reporter #1: …Why is this offer still on the table after the comments Sylo has made about the BHC and the legacy of the Championship Committee?

Hatori: The BHC currently controls 14 titles and has been active since 1961…Our legacy is not dependent upon anything Sylo or anyone else has to say. On a personal note, I wish I could still step into the ring…As Sylo is someone that I feel needs to…

He stops himself.

Hatori: I will say no more…I must be going…

Hatori walks past the reporters as they shout at him, NJWF TV then returns to live coverage and analysis of the BHC Presidents comments.
