The camera kicks on, but there is nothing to be seen. We sit in complete pitch black for several moments. There feels to be a presence in the room, but still we cannot tell. Finally, a desk lamp kicks on and it illuminates a small amount of the room. But from within that ray of light, we see an even more illuminating object- “Sensational” Steven Shane’s smile.

Shane: And just like that, the light has been shown on TEAM wrestling.

Albeit a bit different than the initial rules entailed, a contractual agreement is a contractual agreement, and Steven Shane is a man of integrity.

I told the man in charge of TEAM that I would make his promotion one of the best ever, and now I’ve done that by gracing each and every guido out there with my presence. The interest level in TEAM just skyrocketed through the roof.

Shane points to the sky and gives a smile to illustrate the ratings boost.

Shane: I find it not only fitting, but very internally satisfying that I can get this tournament off with a kick by coming out and letting everyone know just what kind of competition there is if they wish to win this tournament.

You see, as the track record shows, if you wish to go anywhere during this tournament, you must first go through “Sensational” Steven Shane.

I’ve been in the ring with some of the greatest that this industry has to offer. And more often than not, I find myself as the one with his hand raised when the bell rings.

Whether it be tearing through the A1E singles ranks, holding onto the Cyber Title longer than all but one person in the title’s history…

Or whether it be the way that I’ve taken Empire Pro over by storm since coming over, my winning ways have not stopped.

Nor will they in this TEAM Invitational Tournament.

Shane leans into the light and it is evident that his smile is slowly flattening out and his eyes become a bit more focused on what’s in front of him.

Shane: You see, I’ve got to admit, I’m not quite that familiar with my opponent for this match-up.

I’ve heard words that he believes himself to be some sort of technical genius because he has some sort of amateur background.

Shane leans back in his chair and claps his hands.

Shane: Well, congratulations Mr. Johnstone.

That’s right, you’ve managed to make a profession out of this business simply because you’re able to waistlock someone and take them to the mat.

Lemme tell ya, that’s one hell of a talent.

You are now prototype number 1,834,981 that tells me that and prays that it strikes fear into my heart.

Now, I’m not sure how far that’s actually gotten you in this profession, simply because you’ve shadowed yourself better than P. Diddy behind Biggie Smalls, but I can bet you one thing…

The men that you have faced in the world of professional wrestling were nothing like Steven Shane.

As the name says, and it doesn’t lie, I’m the most sensational specimen that this industry has seen in the three short years I’ve been here.

This isn’t a game about waistlock and down to the mat. This is about beating the hell out of your opponent until they can no longer answer the count of three.

And that’s something that I’ve specialized in since Ken Cloverleaf and I took over the tag ranks shortly after I got started in this business.

Shane leans forward again. His words even more stern than before.

Shane: Losing is not something I’m accustomed to, Jackson.

And it’s not something I’m going to learn how to do either.

My plans here in TEAM are simple…

Make it a formidable organization that people will recognize, make Steven Shane an even more common household name, and to do that, I’m going to win this tournament.

Losing to some two-bit amateur who’s afraid to even tell me who he is? Well, we won’t even go into that, simply because it’s not something that’s going to happen.

Come bell time, you’re going to realize just how much of a mistake it was for you to enter into a tournament that Steven Shane was also in.

And once that bell rings again, you’ll be trying to roll over to your stomach to pick yourself up, thinking about how disappointing Kurt Angle’s autobiography would’ve been if he ended up following his amateur career like you just did.

I look forward to the competition, Jansen. But if I actually manage to get a challenge out of you, it’ll be great for my second round warm-up.

Thanks in advance for the win. I promise you I’ll make it look as SENSATIONAL as possible.

I just wish your light could’ve stayed on a little longer than TEAM’s will after this stellar performance.

We see one more Steven Shane smile before he reaches over and pulls the switch on the lamp as the camera goes back to black.
